Maybe its just me, but my pet hate is people who drive in a straight line across roundabouts using every lane and completely unaware that there is somebody turning right at the same roundabout and quite correctly occupying the right-hand lane, or at least what little is left of it! For me, the clue is in the name...ROUNDabout. Maybe they are the same people who drive with their wing mirrors folded in, too? Rant over!

With respect to the specific years that had certain engines, I think only GT4s had the Revup in 2005, then all models from the facelift 2006 onwards, until the HR was introduced. You have to be a bit careful, as older cars are sometimes registered on later plates when dealers are using stock up. E.g. there are loads of 07 reg cars that are not HRs. You should be able to spot a Revup by the fact that it has the connection for the exhaust valve timing control on the front upper timing chain covers. The HR is more obvious from the twin intakes. Hope this helps a little.

if its a 350z, you don't have one, its a chain drive

Have you checked the wiring to the sensor, are all earths in good order? Is the battery fairly new? I think the dealers also have something they can fit in place of the sensor to clean the flywheel pickups with - may be worth asking. Good luck, Dave

Just had a look at mine, and it all appears fine, with the usual polished finish on the top of the belt, except that at the edge of the belt nearest to the front of the car, there is a small band about 1-2mm wide that looks a little more 'feathered' than the rest of the belt. It actually looks very like Pete's in the pics above. Mine has done about 20,500miles and never been changed as far as I know. Will be keeping a close eye on that over the next few thousand. Dave

Looks lovely, but in those close-ups of your tailpipes, it looks like they're about 1/2" off the ground!

If the door is not actually opening on the latch, is it just that the switch is wrongly adjusted/worn? Could you do like the 'bootlid penny trick' and stick a disk of something onto the door where it contacts the switch? Of course if the door latch is faulty/worn, it really should be replaced for safety's sake. Edit - sorry, I've now re-read the last bit of your original post and it does sound like the latch may be at fault if you can hear additional wind noise.

You wanted a dirty Zed? The aftermath of a weekend at the Goodwood FoS......

In truth, there's not much in it, but as an example, a full Peugeot dealer 40,000 mile service on the 207 was about £400, including plugs and a brake fluid change. In fairness, I think there are cheaper options for older cars out of warranty, but if you take them they tell you storys about using 'non-genuine parts, but supplied through Peugeot' whatever that means, and they don't use the right oil, which I believe is very important in that engine. The plugs are platinum and need doing every 40k. On the Zed, I paid about £200 for a P1 and less than £350 for a P3 at a Nissan dealer (actually the same company as the Pug dealer locally, but the Nissan side offer much better service). If I recall correctly the plugs on the Zed are about £150 extra, but the interval is longer on them. Peugeot state 2 year/20,000 mile intervals, but they also reccommend an interim oil service, which is over £100. Its a bit of a cheek really - most people can probably see that really means 1 year/10,000 miles if they were honest about it! Honestly, though, I still really like the 207, even though I wasn't expecting to!

My better half has a 207 SW 1.4VTi, and I have to be honest I really quite like it. Its chuckable, and being the SW has huge capacity for a small (if you can really call a 207 small) car. It is, however, seriously underpowered given the weight of the SW - I would buy the 1.6 if I had the choice. The 1.4 and 1.6 VTi engines are actually the BMW Prince engine out of the latest Mini. I would say, though, I don't think its really built to last. I went wrong last year, when the engine coolant temperature sensor failed, but was easy to DIY diagnose and fix even though the MIL light didn't come on, 'cos the temperature gauge said it was hot when it was cold and it wouldn't cold start. It has a tremendous thirst for oil, and at £12 per litre the cost really adds up, plus you have to keep an eye on the level regularly. The air con makes some trerrible racket from behind the dash, but when asked to investigate, the dealer's response is 'aircon tested and works fine' - not very helpful. The Peugeot dealers are pretty poor in my experience, and it costs more to service than the Zed! Hope this helps to confuse you!

Use the Search function - the answer is out there! The 06 rev-up engines added Exhaust Variable Valve Timing. They also had a higher rev limit.

Clutches are lighter on later 350Zs in my experience - mine is significantly lighter than my previous Clio 182. 350Z Autos will all be imports, and there aren't many late imports in the country yet. Azure Blue was available from launch until 2007. The very dark blue (Night Blue) was only an option from 2007. This probably explains why you aren't seeing many dark blue autos about!
