  1. Thanks Chris, good to know they work. What software do you use with yours? Dave
  2. Thanks for that Lexx - I had a feeling the Pug wouldn't be a straightforward one. Unfortunately I can't find any documentation to prove what protocol the 207 uses, but as its a 2007 petrol, it should be EOBD compliant I believe! The ELM 327 seems to be the most common interface available, does anybody have any experience of these? Thanks, Dave
  3. Hi, Sorry if this has been covered before, but I did try searching! I am looking to buy a USB-OBD interface, and some software for the usual code reading and resets, but would also like to be able to log/view realtime data, e.g. AFR, Ignition Advance etc. The choice is bewildering! This is not for use on the zed, as that's still got warranty on it, but more for the wifes Pug 207, and others in the family. Can anyone reccommend a decent interface and software? I would be looking to use it with either a Win XP or Win 7 laptop. Dave
  4. I flashed you out from the chippy in Wimborne on Thursday evening - the numberplate kinda gave your identity away! I wasn't in the zed at the time, so you probably didn't notice (you did say thanks, though, which is more than most do!)
  5. Hi, Is that not the bluetooth module, connected to the cradle in the centre armrest? Dave
  6. Here is the Stillen review from Evo when they launched that kit (including the bonnet mod) http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarreviews/43732/nissan_350z.html
  7. Hi, I've used John from Dentrix http://www.denttools.co.uk/ on my previous cars, and he did a fantastic job. I think he is more into training people to do it, rather than ding the work himself nowadays, and does not travel so far anymore. If you wanted him to do the job, you may have to drive towards him, say to Ringwood or somewhere like that. Dave
  8. Hi, Did Nissan not just make the door skins out of 1/2-inch plate, to protect against all the careless door opening in carparks?
  9. Well done on getting that! Looks lovely, good luck with getting it back to full health.
  10. Glad they were honest enough to leave a number - rare thing that! Hope you get it back straight soon.
  11. The HR engine (313PS) won't fit under that pre-facelift bonnet..................... The advert is probably wrong, at that age it should be a 280bhp, and the 296bhp came out in 2005 as the GT4, and then all models from 2006. The 313ps (309bhp) came out in 2007, and can be identified from the bonnet bulge (although people put these bonnets on earlier cars) and more importantly the twin intakes on the engine.
  12. I agree that a well repaired cat D can make a good buy for the right price, but it may be harder to sell on and you need to be really sure about the standard of repair. Also, I guess you wouldn't get any service history with it? I was more concerned by the OP's comment that the seller does not have a V5 for the car......................... ...................wouldn't touch a car without a V5 with a bargepole!
  13. I'd love to do a good old Peugeot 205 GTi.........................
  14. I was at the wedding, too, but didn't find-out who you were............
  15. I have spent a big, fat ZERO on mods................... ................never been into mods on other cars I've owned, but I can see the temptation on the zed, though!
  16. I may be mistaken, but I think the dealers usually dismantle and rotate the spline on the driveshaft 180-degrees relative to the hub, regrease and reinstall?
  17. 350flash - is your car a 313, too?
  18. Welcome to the forum! Mine's a Night Blue, too - I love it when the sun really gets it, and there aren't many about! However, I've got a colleage who thought it was black until the other day...............and I've had it 10 months! Enjoy!
  19. Your saga got me thinking................. ...........I've got a 313, too, and mine has done the low speed jolt/bunny-hopping ever since I have had it - it occurs as you open the throttle, for example as you turn into a side road off the throttle and open it again. I have been fed all of the "they all do that, sir" lines from the dealers, too! So tonight, I decided to do the 'throttle pedal released position reset' and 'throttle valve closed position reset'. It seems to have completely cured the jerky throttle response - its like driving a different car! Could it be that the dealer has done the reset procedures above to your car, and that is why the bunny-hopping is better? If your vibration is road speed related, not engine speed related, it seems very unlikely to me that it could be caused by the flywheel, or the clutch for that matter! I think you are probably on the right lines with wheel/tyre balance, prop-shaft, rear axle etc. i.e. something after the gearbox, but maybe they should also check the gearbox itself. Good luck and keep us posted!
  20. So, did you get your car back yet? have they sorted it?
  21. Thanks for the update - please keep us posted! I know how you feel with the micra. Was it the new 3-cylinder one, its almost like half a zed engine according to some dealers - they must have made a very coarse 2.0 litre zed at some stage without any of us knowing........................ Cheers, Dave
  22. Hi Seech, Did you get anywhere with this at the stealers today? Let us know what they said. Cheers, Dave
  23. If I get any emulsion on light switches etc. (or on the oil-based paint on woodwork for that matter) at home, Meths brings it straight off. Be careful with the paint on your car mind; I would test on a small hidden area that it doesn't damage the lacquer. It will also strip off any wax you've got on there...................... ..................if meths doesn't shift it, its probably not emulsion!
  24. Hi, Just been quoted £468 for a P3 by Westover Nissan in Bournemouth, and they don't even seem to be able to tell me if that includes new plugs. This seems very excessive to me, comparred to prices other people seem to get from the likes of Martins of Winchester etc; i.e. double the price. Can anybody reccommend somewhere in Dorset/Hampshire/Wiltshire for servicing? Thanks, Dave
  25. This post made me laugh - I've lost count of the number of times I've had to cut something in the local B&Q carpark while doing my old house up...............because they couldn't do it indoors for health and safety reasons The mind boggles....................
