  1. I've had that kind of metallic rasp when exhaust heat shields have come loose. May be worth a check if you didn't notice it when checking out the exhaust.
  2. One on ebay for £29 delivered. Couple of cheaper one's if you go abroad. May be worth getting a price from Nissan for a blank sub key and coding it yourself.
  3. I got my second one today after the cutter bodged up the first one. Tried a different key cutting place and had the same excuses about ebay stuff, not their own blades etc, shouldn't really touch it. But after some discussion he gave it a go, and thankfully was successful. It just takes a bit of expertise to set it up on the machine properly, as the grooves in the blade are a different length to the original they have to start freehand as it were. Best thing was he didn't charge me in case it didn't fit, so it has only cost me the replacement. Other thing is, I don't know if it's a later '08 key thing or not, but the transponder is incorporated into the circuit board, so there was no need for blue tac or anything, just a straight swap. Works perfectly, Nissan badge on one side, just needs RTB to fashion a Nismo badge for the other side now. Long time coming.........result.
  4. That would explain it as mine is an HR. Otherwise, yes, I would be browsing Autotrader and Pistonheads.
  5. Cherished transfer means he's put a personalised number plate on it, replacing the original index it was sold with. This isn't an issue as such, and if the plate is sold on you often get that original index back again, although not always. Not sure why it would be in the notes on a V5, I've had several 'private' plates and the new V5 has never come back with anything like that on it. Vin number is usualy GBA rather than GAA, assumed it meant Great Britain etc for GB supplied cars rather than imports, so may need further investigation. To be honest, for that price, there are plenty more about. If you can get past the Nismo kit and wheels, it's a standard Rev-up GT. May be worth having another look closer to home. Good luck.
  6. To clarify: HR's from late '07 only. No bonnet bulge and redlines at 7K, HR redlines at 7.5K. (See the pic of the rev counter).
  7. A. Correct. B. It's a Rev-up DE. Flat bonnet so not an HR, revised interior so '06 on 'Rev-up'. C.Base model had cloth seats, that one is a GT, i.e. Heated/electric leather seats, Bose stereo, Cruise control (righthand switches on steering wheel). D. Apart from the Nismo bits and GT spec which includes the Bose upgrade, it has Satnav and rear parking sensors as options. E. Sorry, don't know. F. Ditto. And welcome!
  8. That's odd as it was a Timpson shop where I had mine cut. The girl simply said it was at my risk (no problem with that), a few minutes later, job was done and best of all she didnt charge me! Tried it and it works perfectly. David I think I'll try one of the other Timpson branches with the next one. They're probably franchises so depends on the owner/staff.
  9. Have you tried to turn it yet? Mine was cut off centre and doesn't work. Have had to order another one. Trouble is we have three Timpsons in town and their company policy says they can't cut third party blades, so the only other guy available arsed it up. Running out of options now, it was only supposed to cost £15 plus cutting, I'm now in for £30 plus cutting. At least I didn't get charged for the first carve up, he tried to imply that it wasn't their fault, cheap ebay crap and all that, but I think he just didn't set the machine up right. Notice that the screw is going to be under the badge if you stick one in the burger recess as well, not good when you come to change the battery and it won't stick again. Hopefully it won't need opening for a few years, and the badges come in two's, so there's always a spare. Otherwise just the job, and no bigger than our other Alfa flip key. The time we've waited for this I don't think you're going to get a smaller one any time soon.
  10. I noticed that they didn't show a picture of the back side in the listing, and I'm still waiting for mine, but that looks suspiciously like a Nissan burger shaped recess. Job lot of Nissan blanks ended up on ebay somehow? Not that I give a stuff either way, it would imply that the quality would be up to acceptable standards, but does it look like your badge has fallen off? I was intending to just go for the Nismo style badging if the Biscuit comes up with something cool, but if it looks like the badge has dropped off already I may need a little burger so that it doesn't look shabby already.
  11. That sounds ideal. I had a look for suitable badging, and not wanting a Nissan badge, there wasn't anything available in the 'Z' or 'Nismo' area. So definitely interested, I thought the oblong recess looked like a suitable location. Nice one RTB.
  12. Yep, seven sold now. Early bird and all that. Be a shame to miss out on this after all the years of waiting with the standard key poking your leg through your pocket...
  13. There is no requirement by Nissan to change the gear and diff oils at all on the Z33, only inspect. The service schedule covers other Nissan models which do require changing, hence the confusion. As with the P2/P3 nonsense, the Zed has a viscous type diff which makes the P3 service absolutely identical to the P2. Notwithstanding additional service items at additional cost, i.e. spark plugs and coolant, which are changed at the recommended mileage/time intervals irrespective of which service is being carried out. It is however a matter of good practise to change these fluids, especially as the gearchange on the earlier models has shown to improve with Molyslip and fresh, original Nissan, gear oil. If you don't have it, you can check out the service schedule here: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/61672-nissan-service-checklist/
  14. The weight is added to make it easier to close the lid, so that it catches first time, without having to put a lot of effort into it. Ironically, the Zed often struggles to lift the lid clear of the catch as the spring assistors fail and the gas struts age, the result being that removing the weight can help with opening. It no more affects the driving than putting any other item in the boot space, we're not talking about a massive amount of weight, just something to help overcome inertia.
  15. Brilliant. I guess it proves the point that you can claim for anything these days. Is 'bummed' a legal term?
  16. I can't remember exactly, I think I had the bumper off at the time so it was easy to see. But as I recall they are self contained clips, ease them one way or the other to release the cover, push home to clip back on. If you give them a good tug they will likely break something, best bet is to feed a mirror behind to check out what's going on. I'm pretty sure just feeling with your fingers you should be able to suss it out.
  17. The painted covers on the two slats unclip and can be removed. The lower part with the dip in it is part of the bumper. The framework behind would need cutting out, as mentioned, if you needed to. But from what others have said, it's not necessary to fit a Zunsport mesh.
  18. They only put the maximum pressure on the side wall as different applications will require different pressures.

  20. If you mean the red reflectors on the doors, they are reflectors, they look like they should light up but they don't.....because they are reflectors. There are no puddle lights and no other lights on the doors so I assume that this is what you think should light up?
  21. Officer: "were you in control of the vehicle at the time of the incident madam?" Lady: "No, but my 'phone was." Insurance Co.: "Sorry, your claim has been rejected." Repeat and adjust for differing scenarios....
  22. Which model/engine? Unlikely the internals have seized unless it's been run low on oil, some are prone to that. If it's giving up trying to turn over it sounds like a duff battery, I know it's new, but have you tested it? Otherwise maybe the starter has seized.
  23. LSD Standard on UK models. Again, GT adds: heated/electric/leather seats, upgraded Bose stereo, cruise control. That's it. Nothing to do with wheels, brakes, colours, engine performance.
  24. Use the high power red led bulb specified in post 1. Looks as effective as the original when switched on, and passes MOT no problem. The idea is to remove the un-symetrical red/white look in the rear clusters, it's not about having 'clear' lenses. Either way you have to take them out of the bumper to change the housing or 'clear out' the red lense, if you don't want an aftermarket look but want rid of the single fog light look, this just costs you the price of a bulb. The oven doesn't have to be that hot to loosen the glue, I started lower and just kept checking until it was loosening up. It really is very easy.
  25. Brembo's are NOT part of the GT pack. All UK supplied cars came with Brembo brakes.
