  1. I got a friend who bought an MG at 17 and has been tinkering lovingly with it ever since some 23 years later. Anyone out there owned a car longer than 10 years? Still got it?..............At what stage would you get rid? Sold it?...............Why?.............Regret?
  2. ...........any interesting stories behind the AFTERSHOCKS username?

    My Zed

Love how light bounces off sunset orange
  5. Always good to hear of another owner in Manchester. I'll wave if i see you in south Manchester.......either from a sunset coupe or a white mini
  6. They say money can't buy you happiness....... IT CAN WHEN YOU GET A ZED Welcome to zed ownership
  7. Congratulations. May this be the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship
  8. P3 and P2 are basically the same on the zed. Just had a P2 and MOT for £195. Supplied my own oil. Brake fluid was changed but not coolant as they said it tested fine with protection to -32deg. Done at Lockwood and Greenwood in Manchester
  9. Come service time I replace the locking nut with a standard one and put the locking nuts back when I get home with a torque wrench. I FIND IT HARD TO TRUST ANYONE
  10. If that pic is true representation the lips do indeed look dust free. Seen many sealants make cleaning easier but never one that is DUST FREE. If you have time I'd be keen to see close up pics of the lip with a finger swipe on to show the extent of dust freeness at different mileages.
  11. An alternative to traditional alloy wheel cleaner is IRON X. I use it on bodywork but it also works wonders on brake dust. You can see it at work on my other thread or have a search on http://www.detailingworld.com to see it at work on alloys I'm quite anal about maintaining my LMGT 4s so they are always well sealed and so for the past 5 weeks have only needed to use water to clean them. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=41303&hilit=Iron+x
  12. Zed is now 6 years old with nearly 30k on the clock. Despite service manual stating diff and gearbox fluids as lifelong I don't mind shelling out for replacements for increased longevity as I plan to keep the zed for years to come. I've read of owners cars running fine UNTIL they changed these fluids then encountering problems. So how many of you have had these changed at LOCKWOOD AND GREENWOOD and has everything been fine?
  13. Keep your chin up my fellow mancunion sunsetter When I got mine it was one problem after another. Rattling hatch. Tailgate struts failed TWICE! O2 sensors failed TWICE! Clicking axels. AND THAT WAS WITH A BRAND NEW ZED 3 yrs out of warranty and no more probs and never visited main dealer again. Back to L&G myself next week for an MOT on the zed.
  14. Congrats on the new cube Stan. Glad you and more importantly Ania likes it. Just got a Kia Sportage to replace a mini as our family ride due to the arrival of baby Aiden 2 months ago. On the test drive the salesman asked our toddler if she liked the Kia. "I don't like it.....I like mummy's old one" Like you said, a marmite kinda car. Saw one in white last 2years ago and loved it, wife hated it, Bella couldn't talk much at the time but I reckon she's with Ania. Kids have a habit of loving cute quirky things
  15. My pc skills are so basic I've only managed to login using my laptop TODAY! I was using my mobile for months Wasn't uploading pics or posting as much as a result. Tried deleting cookies etc with no joy Today a more pc wise friend showed me how to login using inprivate mode and all is well
  16. Hi Wayne The nano stuff from "the Wolf" seems to be selling like hot cakes especially the Body Wrap. What were you using before on the Volks and how does it compare to the Wolf's? How would you rate the cleaning capabilities of this new sealant? ie does the applicator show up a lot of grime that's been cleaned off the paint?....... your Volk's probably don't go long enough between paint cleansing to show any dirt
  17. Week 5 Still cleaning up easily with a gentle wipe of a MF under a slow trickle of water from a hose. Beading on the spokes is tight. Still beading on the polished rim.....but not as tight. Probably gets more of a bashing from the brake dust here. AND BEFORE ANY CLEVER CLOGS GET EXITED.......I KNOW......I MISSED A SPOT ON ONE OF THE SPOKES
  18. Check these out.........everyone will have these soon http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... p?t=223474
  19. I'd be very interested as i've read alot of good stuff about GTechnic on detailing world. About to order some C4 myself. I was a little apprehensive about their paint sealant due to it being so tough it has to be machined off if you mess it up. I might order the C5 next if you give it the thumbs up
  20. For years I have used wax or sealant more frequently on my alloys than the bodywork, sometimes as often as twice a month in winter. Thus I have never found the need to use anything but regular bodywork shampoo to wash the rims. Chemical Guys wheel guard has been my weapon of choice as it contains cleansers negating the need for claying or dedicated paint cleansers when used regularly. As I am nearing the end of the tub I thought I'd test it's durability a bit more. I last applied it to my 4yr old LMGT-4s 4 weeks ago on my daily driver zed. Each week I wash them using WATER ONLY, hosing gently using a mf cloth for gentle agitation simultaneously. Week 1. Still very slick finish. Hardly any agitation required. Week 2. Similar to week 1 Week 3. Slickness decreased but still cleaning up easily with good beading. Week 4. Needing to agitate a bit more around nooks and krannies around spokes. Still beading well with the face and rim spotless. Rougher surface of wheel backs/inners now picking up a tinge of brown stain that is not shifting with the water and mf. By using only water I hope to get the most out of the sealant durability wise. It also halves my cleaning time. Don't reckon you could get much gentler cleansing regime for the rims either. I will try to upload pics this weekend.
  21. Sorry, in my opinion I wouldn't put those rims on MY zed THEY'D STAY IN MY LOUNGE...so I could constantly gaze at them, carress them, feel the cool smooth lips with my fingertips Not jealous in the slightest
  22. Looks like you had a blast Chris. Zed was looking great ......bet the nismo zorst really came to life at the ring! Just finished watching your vid.......thanks for taking the time to post up.
  23. Washing machine packed up. Ordered new one from John Lewis including delivery and removal of old one. Workman pulled old one from under worktop but couldn't unplug it as it was plugged in behind the dryer. He said he didn't have time for all this messing, produced a stanly knife and said "you'll have to install the new one yourself.........I'll CUT THE CABLE so that I can take the old one away" The numpty even looked pi**ed when I said "YOU HAVING A LAUGH......YOU CAN'T DO THAT" until I pointed out cable was LIVE. Dread to think what would have happened if I was out and the miss us just left him to it
  24. A copy of your Homer avatar on the bonnet would finish off the look a treat.....AND I'M BEING SERIOUS
