Washed, Polished and Waxed. An Orange Zed in the Sunlight
HEADPHONES replied to Svothe's topic in Photos
Sunset orange is such a fussy colour when it comes to showing it's best. In dull daylight and with the slightest of dust coverings mine looks like a cross between mustard and pollen. Under strong sunlight or at night though and it comes to life almost glowing like embers in the ashes. You've captured "the fire" in the paint well in those pics -
11 days of Z - Too Fast Too Furious.

Welcome back dude. You didn't waste any time getting a new zed did you -
I get all my service parts from Clark Motorsport normally, but with 2nd hand electrical parts I'd rather let the garage source and fit in case it doesn't cure the problem.

What a coincidence......I passed a gleaming black GT Four in Manchester this weekend. It's nice to see this red gem is in good hands Coldel. It is a lovely examlpe from the good ol days when Toyota had a stunning line up. MR2 turbo Celica GT Four Supra TT

Well, as the Zed turns 10 this year I treated her to a birthday treat. P2 All fluids changed. Gear and diff oil change. Denso Iridium sparks. MOT. Came in just under £400 but airbag light came on again just before MOT. Furthermore they found some splits on the inside of both front tyres nearly down to the ply. Despite plenty of tread on my rear Falkens, these are now discontinued so 4 of their successors have been ordered. So looks like around a £1000 for me this year. Still, compared to routine servicing at premium German main dealers, very reasonable me thinks

Zed had its 10 year service on Friday and got them to check the airbag error. Apparently I need a new airbag clock spring behind the steering wheel. The garage are trying to source me a 2nd hand one so hopefully it'll be good for its MOT retest next week.

I visited my local Longlife exhaust centre a few weeks back to have a custom cat back system for a Mini Cooper and whilst there enquired on a system for the zed.. It was Topger in Stockport and they said it would be about £1000 depending on the style. They said they'd done a few and copied the design of a few popular set ups. Was only £375 for the Mini but I suppose it's a much smaller job. Fit was spot on and as it's used for the school run by the missus I asked for as OEM sounding as possible. No drone and just a little deeper than OEM. The main thing stopping me getting one on the Zed is the unknown finished sound. Would be gutted spending a grand and having a drone on the motorway and a soundtrack that was either too quiet/loud.

Abs traction control and slip lights on plz help
HEADPHONES replied to PenfoldZ's topic in 350Z Technical
There's a micro switch behind the brake pedal. If it's come loose or broken your brake lights will either not work or be very dim. This will then set off all the lights you mention. When mine came on this was the cause. The lights would go off when I restarted the car.....but as soon as I touched the brake pedal they'd all light up again. If the switch is broken a new one can be obtained from Clark Motorsport. -
Looking nice. I would love to see some night time shots of your zed. I bet the metallic flakes really pop out under the lights!

I'm based in S.Manchester and work just off the curry mile. Whereabouts are you based?

Good news bad news. Did the airbag reset again and my odd flashing light sequence has gone After a few minutes idling, the original on/off sequence is back Pedal dance just pulls 0000 and a reset did nothing. Hope the garage find a cheap fix tommorow.
-
Airbag light was flashing again after removing carpets for cleaning. In the past I give the connectors a squeeze and reset and its all good. Did the same today but now the flashing has changed from normal on/off to 2 fast flashes followed by a slower one........just as MOT booked tomorrow! That'll teach me to try and get the car clean and presentable before going for service and mot. Anyway, any idea what this change in sequence means so I can give the garage a heads up tomorrow?

^ It was indeed almost £3000 extra when I ordered my zed in 05. This was before I used the internet or knew about the forum or else I would have probably ordered a replica SHINE kit. I originally also ordered the 19' Lmgt4 rims. They wanted £2500 extra and I wouldn't even get the standard 18's with that.......the price was just to upgrade! Luckily they had a supply problem at the time and the standard 18s grew on me. Then I joined the forum a couple years later and got the lmgt4s imported via a trader for £1200 and got to keep my 18s as spares too. Gotta love the owners club

I'll be very honest, if I was a cyclist I wouldn't use these shared paths as the pedestrians would slow me down. Then when the path ends I'd have to slow down to join the normal road as if there was an extra junction. So in this case I'm not really having a dig at cyclists but more the numpties that think spending thousands on such a project is a worthwhile.
-
A while back, a road on my daily commute underwent major roadworks. They made the pavement 4x wider to create a shared pedestrian cycle lane sign posted with a blue circle with a cycle and people on it. The roads were obviously narrowed to accommodate this and the speed limit reduced from 40 to 30 to reflect this. Problem is, 99% of cyclists don't use this and drive on the narrow road which is no longer wide enough for cars to overtake if there is traffic on the other side. Either very bad planning or someone has taken a backhander in the planning/contracting. Anyone else seen similar shared paths which cyclists actually use?

I'm 43 and struggled with HSBC to get a mortgage of 1.2x income despite a 60% deposit. Self employed status maybe complicated things but been with HSBC 25 Yrs. Used a broker LONDON AND COUNTRY in the end and got 2.3x income. Very fast service. Daily updates. Their fees paid for by lenders not by purchasers.

Sorry to hear you didn't get a zed today. All places will have an off moment at times and as you said there are plenty of others to look at. If it's any consolation I had an even worse experience buying new 10 years ago. Already had a test drive with West Way Nissan Manchester. Decided on the colour and specced up to the max with Nismo 19s and bodykit. Booked an appointment to sign and leave a deposit. On arrival I'm told the salesman is a bit behind, have a seat an a coffee. 45 minutes later and nobody has spoken to me at all. I go to the reception to complain and am told he'd popped out to take a customer out on a test drive just before I came and should be back soon! Now for someone waiting to give you over £30k THAT WAS APPALLING! Booked appointment with Stockport and left immediately.

Check the boot stays open. Sometimes the gas struts fail and the boot will fall on your head whilst loading stuff in the boot. Also a common problem is needing to press boot release button twice to open it as the popping springs weaken. This is an easier fix though using a couple of nylon washers added inside the popper. Good luck

The nursery had an egg incubator and hatched some chicks. Cute....fluffy....yellow....chicks. Guess what they feed them? SCRAMBLED EGGS! Is it just me or does this sound awful.

Well it's almost 10yrs since I took delivery of my Zed. Thought I'd ask fellow members if I've overlooked any servicing specifics at 10 yrs. She's booked in for a P2 service and m.o.t next week. Ordered spark plugs, gearbox and diff oil from Clarke Motorsport. Asking my indie garage to do coolant and brake fluid. Had new pads 10k ago. I don't do mega miles and have only 43k on the clock but now got a squeak from rear when it's bumpy. Hopefully it gets diagnosed correctly on the day.

Seeing threads like this shows how much damage can be done in RTAs. Glad to hear you are all ok. Was only a couple years back we lost a member to a road accident
