  1. On further reading it seems my symptoms do indeed seem identical to the brake light switch failing. Will try Clarke Motorsports for a part. The guide I found on my350z says it's a 45 second job. I'll report back probably having spent 2 hours on it
  2. Had mine for 9 years. I still get that new car feeling after giving her a good detail. She's my commuting car. My weekend car is a Kia kiddy carrier So I look forward to my drive to work come Monday
  3. Thanks for all the replies. I don't know why I didn't think to check the brake lights:d'oh: Well, the high level light isn't coming on at all and the brake light led's come on only faintly. Even dimmer than the rear lights that come on with the headlights. I will see about checking the fuses first.
  4. Welcome to the OC. When you have time post up pics of both the old EVO and your Nismo Zed
  5. This is true......... But getting the bits outta the perforations takes a lot more time, patience and LOADSA TOOTHPICKS!
  6. After 9 yrs of ownership I've got my first puzzling problem. The zed has recently started throwing tcs, esp and abs lights on after a few minutes of driving. All come on simultaneously. Lights go off on restarting car but only to return after driving a few minutes. Problem started with the onset of the warm weather. Had my 05 zed from new. 47k on the clock. Last service 500 miles ago. New pads 5000 miles ago. Fluid levels all at max. Pedal dance just shows code 0000 ie no faults. Tested car on start up before warning lights come on. Abs works. Full throttle with full steering lock triggers the tcs and cuts the power while the light flashes as it should. Not sure how I would test the ESP system So anyone experienced anything similar? Thought I'd ask here before contacting my indie garage as it doesn't seem to be a routine servicing issue and I don't want to be charged just for them to tell me the ecu isn't throwing any codes and they can't help
  7. Zed is parked on the drive opposite the dining room window. I have eaten many a meal whilst admiring the sun's rays dancing over the sunset orange paintwork through the window. And that's even after 9 yrs ownership
  8. Way back when I had a Honda Prelude I went to a local garage coz my rear brakes were squealing. Their forecourt was full so I parked across the road. Explained my problem to the garage owner. He looked ACROSS the road at my car and said "Ahhhh.....those Honda's have discs instead of drums.....discs are notorious for warping......I see this all the time......you need new discs and pads!" Playing along I replied "oh....do you recommend I buy a car with drums next time?" "Yep.....but only way to fix yours is new discs and pads." This mechanic must be the world record holder for fastest fault diagnosis by looking at the car FROM ACROSS THE ROAD!
  9. With the onset of the warmer weather these would all come on 10 mins into driving. Checked fluid levels. Both brake and clutch levels were about 5mm above max level. Removed fluid until at the max level and all is fine again. Amazing how a few mls can affect the zed. Will have to have a polite word with the garage as when they serviced our mini a few weeks ago they overfilled the oil by about 600ml Lucky I check the oil weekly and drained off the excess!
  10. I bought mine from Alex of Clarke Motorsports too. Nearly 6 years on and still as good as new. I'd personally get new ones for an extra £35.
  11. Welcome to the forum. I'm based in Manchester too. Had my 05 sunset zed for 9yrs so have seen a few of the common niggles. Any questions and most of us will be glad to try and help. Good hunting
  12. It's like the equivalent of a mob brutally attacking your clear coat. I DO LIKE THEIR CAR DRYER THOUGH
  13. Bunch of spoilt rich kids! Having spent a few years growing up in Malaysia I found most young lads could hardly afford to run a 2nd hand Civic let alone a Zed or GTR. Performance cars carry so much tax even a zed would be about £100k new and don't depreciate fast either. Added to the fact that the average wage is maybe 5 times less than UK its the equivalent to young lads in UK driving £500k supercars! Most traffic police would "seek" to settle driving offences with "on the spot" SO CALLED FINES which affect these spoilt brats like water off a ducks back. These guys should have their cars confiscated and CRUSHED.......Grrrrrr
  14. Great heads up Question 1 Is it as simple as just prizing this plastic cover back like in the pic Question 2 WHAT BENIFICIAL PURPOSE DOES SUCH A BOGUS MUD TRAP SERVE?
  15. My experience with Hydr02 was despite it being the easiest sealant to use EVER, I didn't find it as durable as C2v3 using "my routine" Reasons for me choosing these 2 were speed and ease of use. For the reason of lack of time and speed i didn't have time to do a full decon. Paint wasn't really bad so no clay or paint cleanse etc. Just wash and dry. Hydr02 only lasted a few weeks this way for me. Also works out alot dearer than C2v3 with 100ml only being enough to do body and rims maybe thrice. I also only used storng hose pressure to spray off Hydr02. Maybe with a full decon and a pressure washer to rinse it would fare better but I don't have the luxury of this. So for me it's C2v3 for my paint and rims. How about running a little of the old RainX alongside the screen protector as a baseline Mr Ilogical?
  16. Years ago pre zed similar happened to me at the gym car park. A friend caught someone trying to drive off after denting my wing. Boxed him in, called me, followed by me and a dozen black belt clad "ninjas" running towards the perp. We drove him to his flat to prove his ID. NO INSURANCE! I took his car off him until I got the quote for repair and the cash off him. This was in my "young and angry" days though
  17. Love this reply! SuperStu....you da man
  18. About 15 yrs ago I was coming off the M602 in Manchester. On the slip road was greeted with a car coming head on the wrong way! Single laned slip road on a bridge. Nowhere to turn. Just slammmed on brakes and gripped the wheel! Luckily we weren't speeding as when we collided head on it was just bumper wings and radiator damage!
  19. Looking very SHINEY Must make you want to pop the hood to check the oil on a daily basis just to ogle the new shiney bits!
  20. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=338187 The dent is on the front wheel arch near the edge. Didn't know how to just copy the image so have posted a link to the thread on DW.
  21. Car park etiquette should be the same as URINAL ETIQUETTE. If I'm taking a pi$$ and there are 5 free urinals either side you'd better park your a$$ at least one space away or I'm gonna be on edge ready to pummel you as soon as you get TOO CLOSE
  22. If it was me I'd only say yes if the price wasn't too steep. Look up the reviews of the ceramic coatings from the likes of Cquartz and Gtechniq on detailing world. You can buy and apply yourself but as they are more "permanent" than wax or regular sealants, if you mess up and over apply you can only get rid of the smearing with machine polishing. So, once you know what product you want, negotiate a price that you think reasonable for the labour and see what the detailer says. After all it would be a shame not to take advantage of the car being freshly polished in a secure detailing bay instead of out in the elements on your drive.
  23. Totally random YouTube vid. So simple yet so effective way to cut cherry tomatoes FAST!
  24. Congratulations on your new acquisition. I too am eager to see pics of your new chariot
  25. Looking good there. Your work, your pics and the sunshine really show the sunset orange to it's full potential. If any colour can pull off the BGW the sunset definitely can
