Vlad
What happened to win8 and 9? Lol were they out? As I'm still on win7. All I know that win10 is free upgrade if you running win7. That's it
370Ad
Windows 8.1 came out but 9 was missed. It looks pretty good TBH unlike 8 which I hated!

-Bradders-
ive got it. had it about 2 months now. its ok looks better on the eye. worth upgrading to!
Stutopia
I've had the "technical preview" on a VM for a while. Much better than Windows 8. I'm guessing the live version will be a further improvement. It's nearly caught up with Macintosh System 7. You haven't missed 9, it's been Windows "Nein!" since 1985
Cookie
I noticed this on my laptop today. Very tempted to get the free upgrade but always best to wait for SP1 to come out first IMO.

Stutopia
my main concerns are drivers & software motherboard, printers and specialist software etc If you're tempted to pull the trigger, make sure you clone the hard drive first, so you can always go back. OptimalKiller
Yet again Microsoft tempting customers to move away and to go to the latest version, OS its a big marketing ploy. However please ensure you do have a full backup ideally clone your HDD. Stuff to watch out for:- if you have Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, or Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center and you install Windows 10, Windows Media Centre will be removed. Watching DVDs requires separate playback software (Microsoft has said before that a future update will add this functionality back “later this yearâ€). Windows 7 desktop gadgets will be removed as part of installing Windows 10. Windows 10 Home users will have updates from Windows Update automatically available. Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise users will have the ability to defer updates. Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Hearts Games that come pre-installed on Windows 7 will be removed as part of installing the Windows 10 upgrade. That said, new versions Microsoft Solitaire Collection and Microsoft Minesweeper will be installed. If you have a USB floppy drive, you will need to download the latest driver from Windows Update or from the manufacturer’s website. If you have Windows Live Essentials installed on your system, the OneDrive application is removed and replaced with the inbox version of OneDrive. To be honest I don't like the look of the new o/s but give it a few years and it will be the New Windows 7. My suggestion is to wait before making the jump, Unless you a absolutely confident in computers and troubleshooting etc. Glyn Edited June 1, 2015 by OptimalKiller

ioneabee
have considered it Darren, they're just too overpriced for similar machines saying that I've just jumped from Android to an iPhone 6 (and secretely enjoying it )
JetSet
Yeah, got this icon on my 2 laptops today and also on my Netbook which runs a basic version of Windows 7. I've signed up for just one of them at the moment as its a 3gb download that'll take hours on my 2mb line. Pete
OptimalKiller
If you have money to burn get a Mac, they look nice and you pay a premium for it, great for graphics and sound work, but if you just use your pc for internet gaming and the Microsoft office suite or similar, PC is the way to go. Mudman
UK prices for Apple gear is not good - I got all mine from Singapore - a lot cheaper and no VAT - worth considering if heading South and fancy a (Shop)stopover

grahamc
Tried Windows 10 on an old laptop some time ago and it looked good, but I am a little concerned about automatic updates, with no option to switch it off.
Ekona
How many people actually turn down the updates? I mean, I knocked back the Skype one today, but in all honesty if it was installed it really wouldn't bother me that much.
