  1. Popping an RJ45 at both ends is not a the correct way of testing any network cable, A continuity test will only establish path between two points and confirms if it can communicate. However to answer your question, this will work but will not tell you if you are picking up any interference, high frequencies, which in turn slows down the performance of your network cable etc etc. I dont want to scare you off, I'm just stating the correct way of testing and installing the cables. As DoogyRev suggested, test first with loads of RJ45 and spare cable, You want to wire the network cable as a straight through. This also applies to patch panel and wall sockets see diagram below. This diagram is using the T568B standard, which is pretty much the norm and universal standard. I hope this helps What tester did you purchase? P.S. When crimping or creating a network cable untwist the pairs, and arrange the wires in the order of the desired cable end, Trim the ends of the wires so they are even with one another, leaving only 1/2" in wire length. If it is longer than 1/2" it will be out-of spec and susceptible to crosstalk, which again can reduce performance of your network cable.
  2. Defo a true legend. Never broken my leg. He must have been in pain. What an performer.
  3. I saw a Blue 350z Reg: H*54V** heading towards Purley Way around 7:50am
  4. 17:45 gunmetal I think. E**9 cz* spotted Parked up on Croydon road. West Wickham. Nice car
  5. What you could do, is the following depending upon how gutted the house is. Channel the walls you could embed a PVC cable tray, with the embed cables trays and a pull cord, you could feed additional cables down the wall as and when you require the expansion in to each room. However you will then need to plaster over the tray so it looks all nice, however its a lot of work, but that's what I would do. If not an option go for 4 port in each room. Don't forget what Commander said, when buying a switch make sure you buy a decent one, not all gig switches are actually the same, and some may not be able to deliver 1gig feed uncontended.
  6. Sorry for going off topic slightly, but when you do future proof your house try putting cable trays in the house, especially if you are going to run quite a few cables. Cabling had to be done at work took 2 of us plus getting everyone else to run round. Never again as you can see from the before shots no proper cable management trays or ducting. Before After
  7. some basic advice when running cables. Never cut and rejoin, always rerun a new cable. Never run cables along side electric cables, regardless if the cat cable is shielded or not. Cat 6 has tighter twists in the cable, which gives you less flexibility compared to cat 5e but only slightly, so plan your routes. Get a network cable tester. or borrow one from work. Also talking of future proofing Wifi 802.11ac Wave 2 will be able to reach data rates of 6.9 Gbps its out for Businesses, so I reckon another year before it hits the consumer market. Also Cisco's new industry alliance, have developed a technology that will squeeze more bandwidth out of commonly deployed Cat5e and Cat6 twisted-pair copper cables to enable "intermediate" data rates of 2.5 GbE and 5 GbE. Again it will be a few years yet before it hits mainstream consumer market.
  8. Hi and welcome mike. I hope you take the plundge and get a 350. Im sure you have done this but check your insurance on the car aswell. I think it will be a big jump from the bmw.
  9. I would have definatley taken his details if he hit my 370z. The main thing he was ok. Defo hit that car at some speed.
  10. Lol you got me there. I could give loads of excusses why i hogged the middle lane but i wont. I am normaly the first one to complain about other drivers hogging the middle or fast lane. Consider myself reprimanded. Yes im lucky the police was late for there brekfast, orherwise definatley 3 points would have been in order. Lol
  11. oh OK I thought they had to have the blue & two I'm just glad I was not speeding, don't fancy getting 3 points. It will be another excuse for my insurance company to increase my insurance again.
  12. Its amazing one rule for them another rule for us. Anyway I'm not complaining. I would love to know there excuse for speeding. Now to find out if I will get cheaper insurance if I have a dash cam installed.

I forgot to post this. I was testing my new dashcam Lets just say I was shocked that I was overtaken, and they was certainly doing more than 70MPH. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_7Okxb_YkhXQ01hbGtSZXd1cGM/view?usp=sharing maybe I should have pulled them over for speeding,
  14. 8.1 in a work environment, interesting.......... there are going to be a few complaints so true, but at least he is going to use 8.1 and not 8. Also Server 2012 is also a pain in the arse as well, again stupid tiles.
  15. if only bernie would go, that would be great. Its just not going to happen.
  16. If you have money to burn get a Mac, they look nice and you pay a premium for it, great for graphics and sound work, but if you just use your pc for internet gaming and the Microsoft office suite or similar, PC is the way to go.
  17. Yet again Microsoft tempting customers to move away and to go to the latest version, OS its a big marketing ploy. However please ensure you do have a full backup ideally clone your HDD. Stuff to watch out for:- if you have Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, or Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center and you install Windows 10, Windows Media Centre will be removed. Watching DVDs requires separate playback software (Microsoft has said before that a future update will add this functionality back “later this yearâ€). Windows 7 desktop gadgets will be removed as part of installing Windows 10. Windows 10 Home users will have updates from Windows Update automatically available. Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise users will have the ability to defer updates. Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Hearts Games that come pre-installed on Windows 7 will be removed as part of installing the Windows 10 upgrade. That said, new versions Microsoft Solitaire Collection and Microsoft Minesweeper will be installed. If you have a USB floppy drive, you will need to download the latest driver from Windows Update or from the manufacturer’s website. If you have Windows Live Essentials installed on your system, the OneDrive application is removed and replaced with the inbox version of OneDrive. To be honest I don't like the look of the new o/s but give it a few years and it will be the New Windows 7. My suggestion is to wait before making the jump, Unless you a absolutely confident in computers and troubleshooting etc. Glyn
  18. guys once again thank you just spent over £200 on website on cleaning stuff, plus a couple of drying towels, waxes, polishes. also purchased AutoFinesse - Avalanche Snow Foam this as a prewash for my car. I do like the snow effect. I cant believe your guys have spent thousands of cleaning stuff. I hope I dont get to that stage. I always relied on other people cleaning my car, but after reading on here on what these people can do to the cars, I would rather make sure the job is done correctly. The only thing that's annoying me now is finding the stone chip marks. oh well I knew it would happen someday. Also purchased Meguiars Ultimate wash and wax anywhere for that bird poo situation. Thank you for helping a total newb
  19. thanks Dan, placing order now. Hmm so other goodies to buy as well.
  20. bugger,o.k. waterblade in the bin, can I be cheeky and ask what towel you recommend for drying Cheers Glyn
  21. Hi folks, Thanks for all the tips, I suppose you don't want to come down and show me how its done, may be on a weekly basis Seriously though some great advice and tips. I have a pressure washer Karcher K4, Also invested in Autoglym Hi-Tech Flexi Water Blade, and I also use Meguiar's Water Magnet Microfiber Drying Towel. For some reason I do like the Meguiars car stuff. I think the issue with the water streaking was the fact I cleaned the car in direct sunlight, so did not even get time to fully dry the car with the towel. this Saturday gone, i cleaned the car, around 8am and this time got no streaks, plus using the tools above seemed to do the job. I just need to not use so much wax, plus getting the right technic on applying the wax. I am so grateful for all the advice, seriously, I am a total newb when it comes to cleaning cars. Thanks
  22. using megs Ultimate liquid wax, using 1/4 of bottle on the car, which i know is too much also instead of doing small sections of a panel when waxing, I done a complete panel. I think when i do it again this weekend I will take my time and relax. I think i was also rushing coz I wanted it all done before the sun comes out, As the week prior to this one, I washed the car in direct sunlight, Not a good move had loads of water streaks. Doh.... Thanks guys for the tips.
