GMballistic Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Why is Graham moaning at Graham Just upset to find out GTR's might well be going up in value instead of down. I just want one so bad! Can't afford £30K plus motors though. 1 Quote
gstraw Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Excellent! Would love a GtR! Do the early models not suffer from gearbox issues and need them changed? I would love an 09 GtR but that's always put me off Quote

I would love an 09 GtR but that's always put me off From what I've read they do but a lot of them have been fixed under warranty by Nissan or by using upgrade aftermarket parts usually from Litchfield Motors. Graham probably knows more about it though than me tbh. Quote
grahamc Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 Prices, yes, the older ones are staying very strong, people that bought 1-2 years ago have lost £0. Gearboxes, yes, some of the earlier models had issues and Nissan replaced them. However if you own one of these cars and the gearbox has a problem, fixing it is a hell-of-a-lot cheaper than replacing the whole thing. I think Nissan replaced them so that they could get the whole units back for testing. The GTR is the most expensive car I have ever bought, by far, previous was a £9k Impreza....... over 3 years of ownership now and 2 Quote
martybhoy Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 That is some jump in car value but it'll be worth it no doubt! Quote
grahamc Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 That is some jump in car value but it'll be worth it no doubt! Most definitely, I dont pay much attention, because I dont plan on selling the car anytime soon.... but nice to know Quote

grahamc Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) Collected my car on the weekend missed it sooooo much! Have had a couple of minor things done, like the auto folding mirrors... but the 2 big things that were changed:- #1 the interior trim from wrapped to dipped - looks much better IMO. Will get some photos this weekend #2 brake cooling thanks Sly (Kaizer Motors) this is the first kit of many (I hope). Next (will done in April):- -retrim steering wheel -larger shift paddles (R35 Andy) once they have been dipped to match -forge trans cooler Edited February 26, 2015 by grahamc 2 Quote

Theres a car she has wanted for ages and her birthday is at the end of the year, so might be able to get it right. Quote

GMballistic Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 ^^ Gorgeous. Mind you, ...you could probably show me a picture of the boot on this car and I'd love that just as much. Currently my car crush. Quote

Already got the next set of changes lined up -spare engine cover and some much larger paddle shifters to be dipped and changed -steering wheel is booked in for a retrim -forge transmission cooler Theres are the paddles I have, but mine are in black and will be dipped like the other parts, this shows the size difference Quote
GMballistic Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 ^^ More cool additions then. What a car already and it's just getting better. Quote
grahamc Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Car has performed rather well at Castle Combe and Thruxton.... the brake cooling especially! Could only partially fade the orange paint. Car is off to Sly soon, so will see what he says about it all, but have been hitting speeds above 150mph with no issues from the additional ducts While the car is at Slys place (yes, again, from this weekend):- -forge transmission cooler -steering wheel sent off for retrimming -manifold ported and painted -parts to be dipped (new gear paddles, steering wheel piece) -parts to be powder coated (manifold, brake cooling ducts) - crackle black similar to the forge coolant tank -remove the bonnet popup system (Im starting to do more and more track days and cones are becoming a BIG worry) Then once I am back from holiday, I will start looking for some nice 18" wheels to run as track wheels Quote

I was thinking of doing this on the 370Z as I'm going FI ? Want sure if it helped or was a gimic Edited March 23, 2015 by nissanman312 Quote
grahamc Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 It helps with the cooling of the brakes, GTR brakes are big and the car is heavy, so cooling foe the brakes is rather important. 1 Quote
grahamc Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 Collected the car at the weekend and really happy with what has been. Forge gearbox cooler was fitted, so will see how that holds up Forgot to take the engine bay photo, minor differences - engine cover removed and manifold has been powder coated black Steering wheel retrim Larger shift paddles Dipping to match the dash 3 Quote
TomS Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 A thicker alcantara grip makes the wheel SO much nicer. Looks nicer, feels nicer, easier to grip on track. My favourite mod in my car is probably the Mines wheel. I was looking into a transmission cooler as it annoys me just as I start to get going on track the temps hit 115-120c. If I tracked it more I'd get one but I've been speaking to ACspeedtech and Andy's going to fit something which utilises the engine cooling to keep transmission fluid temps down, will see how it goes! 1 Quote

The retrim and larger paddles are a great combo aimed at track use, so will see how they fair in the next few weeks. Sounds interesting.... all the custom options I saw never did much and most added up to 1800, so the Forge Cooler was an easy option. Interested to see how the AC one goes, sounds very different. Done for exactly those reason, just as you get into things, temps jump up and it takes ages to come back down Quote
