2012rpm Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Hi Everyone, Just joined this site yesterday, I have a 06 Irish Registered 350Z, 62,000 miles on the clock amd my mechanic tells me that my clutch has about 2 weeks to live if I drive it cautiously. Does this sound right and anyone have an idea on the cost of a replacement clutch? Bought the car in October 08 with 29000 miles and it now has 62,000 so driving it below the national average. Motor Tax in Ireland on this car is €1,813 absolutely horrible but still the car is worth it. i would appreciate any feedback. Thanks Karl Quote
Flex Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Yikes, that's a lot of road tax! Welcome along! Quote
SteveM Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) welcome along yes the clutch could well be gone at that milage... http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/137-zmanalex/ worth noting that you MAY need to change the flywheel as well as the clutch due to wear on both.. im Sure Alex will give you a price for both items Edited March 12, 2013 by SteveM Quote
14N Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Ouch! That's a lot of tax! Doesn't sound unheard of for a clutch to go at that mileage and could depend on a number of things (how you drive the car etc). Could your mechanic give you an idea of cost? Maybe put his quote/guesstimate for parts and labour up here and then ask if it sounds reasonable. There's a lot of experienced traders/members here that will help point you in the right direction. Oh and to the forum. Quote
spursmaddave Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I would say at 62k you would almost certainly have to change the flywheel too Quote
Kev T Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Hello and welcome. And we complain about £460 road tax !! Quote
KyleR Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 That tax is enough reason on its own to vote no for a united Ireland Quote
Harryjax Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Welcome. I don't feel so bad now. My tax due this month. Quote
samsniss350z Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Ouch and i thought we got stung with road tax. to the forum and for the cost of a clutch. I'm sure there are a few Irish members who could point you to a decent garage if you're not considering doing the work yourself. Quote
