Memory Lane: Post up your old car pics here

My first car in 1984 at the age of 17. Paid £75 for my purple 1275GT Mini with the square bonnet. Sold my Scalextric and used my savings. Suffice to say I purchased a large scalextric track when I was 35 to replace it many years later.

Out of all my previous cars, this is the one that got away. Owned it before I even passed my driving test, and modified the life out of it. I practically rebuilt every nut and bolt. Started life as a little 1.4L, ended life with a B18 swap and full Type R interior.

6 years of work ended in probably 5 seconds of stupidity when I wrote it off racing a R33 skyline on a twisty B road

Blimey - £75.

And to think, I saw one for sale in a classic dealer in Handcross last Sunday for...... £22,500!

Yes I know. Rare as rocking horse poo now. Tried to buy one a few years back to scratch the memory itch but couldn’t justify  the money..

I loved my 205GTI, it was a white 1.9, one of the only cars I wish I still had.

I have had 3 205 1.9's, that was my first and those wheels came with car. Those wheels are Fondmental's which were 195's and were much lighter than the originals. My latter 205's i kept the originals. But then it was not uncommon to have mismatched originals over time as Peugeot had three different factories making wheels. The first batch had: 'Italy' written on them which were the best and lightest, then it was: 'France' and 'Belgium' to cut costs. They looked the same, but to a trained eye some could tell the difference.

Never heard of them, must be rare. I remember the big names from the days Team Dynamics, OZ, Compomotive, Speedline.

Cost cutting makes sense for any manufacturer I guess.

Bargain buy for someone with an early Peugeot or Citroen then, being such a lightweight cast wheel.
