smithy88 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Hi all, Names Alex and based in Solihull. Life changes force life decisions, baby is about to be thrown out the womb soon enough and im looking at buying a zed as a present to myself. The wife knows already... before you ask I have to sell a few items first to fund my new venture but as soon as the reddys are im my hands im going to possibly jump on the phone the same day. Before i decided to sell my world I went to test drive a 57 zed with a HR engine.. hooked instantly, it had a resemblance of my mk1 clio 16 valve the way it revved through the gears.. a good few years ago though since that motor. So i have been spending alot of time looking through your fantastic forum learning what i can and drooling over a few zed sale adverts too. Any break times are filled with your forum glued to my face phone or computer. Im itching to spend my savings but i need to be sensible and wait. possibly be spending around the 7k mark. - if i could stretch to 10 i would be purchasing the supercharged beauty that's for sale currently. I will do my best not to annoy any of you until i have a zed in my possession. Advice would be welcomed. Thanks A Quote

rabbitstew Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Ah a man after my own heart. I went out and bought a Ducati 996 just days before baby number 1 arrived, then before baby number 2 arrived last year I sold my "sensible" 1 series and bought a Porsche 997 turbo as the new "practical family car". 1 Quote

nixy Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 This makes a refreshing change from 'having a baby got to sell the zed' I thought the woman was supposed to get a 'push present' anyway. Whatever happened to a bunch of flowers and a cigar! Welcome by the way! Quote
HEADPHONES Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 I think getting a Zed when a baby arrives is a very good idea if funds allow it. Everyone will say "congratulations......Baby will bring sooooo much joy..... You'll be soooo happy" but having an 8 and a 5 yr old it is very fresh in my mind how hard it is and was being a new dad. The sacrifices. The sleep deprivation. Losing the partner you once met as she becomes a mum. But i could always rely on my zed to be my little oasis of calm. I'd get into the zed to go to Tescos at 3am for "emergency baby supplies", turn the key, and For those few minutes in the zed, nothing else mattered...... just me, the zed and the road : thumbs:. I'd go as far as to say it helped me from losing my marbles at times. HOWEVER....I can't explain the joy and warmth you'll get when your little one arrives. Wouldn't change having my kids for the world. In fact i dread the day they grow up and don't give and receive hugs, kisses and cuddles. When you pick them up and they wrap their arms and legs around you... Nestling their cheek into your neck.... HEAVENLY! So congratulations on being a dad AND a zed owner. 1 Quote
smithy88 Posted April 8, 2017 Author Posted April 8, 2017 Thanks.. I have to say that's exactly where my thoughts were in making the decision to sell my 6 seater van for a 2 seater car. I'm glad you've replied to share you're experience. Im awaiting these final sales before I purchase. Thanks Quote
Flex Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 I take it you have another practical car that you're keeping? Quote
