Yup, it's a crock. Go and stay gone.

Make the trip. 3 hours is nothing, you're going to spend 1000x that in driving time so you have to know they'll fit perfectly and be comfortable. I highly recommend GSM, they were super helpful when I took the 2.5hr trip to see them. I tried every seat, moved them around in the showroom, pulled apart the seat bases to try different ones etc. Massively worth the trip.

Some do, some don't. My insurance went down after my accident a few years back, and again this year after the lorry driver ran over the BMW in April. So if you take your car for a service, and the garage snaps the exhaust hanger by accident, and they then replace it for you, do you have to notify then? What about if they drop a spanner and have to get the wing resprayed? Where do you draw the line? I think if you look at it that way, you can see that it would be unrealistic to have to notify your insurer if a company damages your property.

Track Day Experience (Track Choice)

I didn't even read Blyton, I only saw the airfield one old age, dodgy eyes etc. -
It's not a claim (not his policy), not an accident (obvs), and not loss (he's not out of pocket or lost anything). It was damage that occurred when the car was being worked on by someone else. It's their liability, nowt to do with the OP. If a tradesman damages a counter top when installing your washing machine, do you declare it to your home contents insurer? How about if someone damages your watch when servicing it, and they replace the glass? Contents again? Nope. I know you work in the industry bud so I'm not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but in no way would that affect his insurance at all. 100% wouldn't need to declare, that just wouldn't make sense. The car wasn't his responsibility when the damage happened.

I've been playing Watch Dogs 2 (superb commentary on modern life as well as a great sandbox), but even better was System Shock 2. £1.74 on Steam, 17 years old, and utterly brilliant. If you've never played it, you really must. The story holds up incredibly well, and even the graphics & controls are on the acceptable side of old school. This must've been terrifying to play when it first came out, and if ever a game was ripe for remake you'd hope it was this. Seriously, it's a couple of quid, what have you got to lose?

I'm only jealous because my savings amount to half of bugger all as I keep spunking it on cars and guitars
-
Interest on savings? That'd be nice... Not even worth it imho. Better off putting it into something worthwhile (like property or supercar) if you've got a six figure sum, or keeping it at close hand on instant retrieval should rates go negative. IANAFA etc.

It was fairly foggy here today, but the amount of idiots who decided that they needed their rear fogs on when travelling at 70mph and when there's a car directly behind them beggared belief. Blinding others just for the sake of being too lazy/ignorant to not flick a switch. Front fogs are no brighter than headlights, so you don't need them to let others see you, you just need headlights on. Rear fogs are to let others behind you know you're there, but if they're behind you and close enough you can clearly see their headlights, you can turn rear fogs off. It's just needlessly dazzling otherwise, like the berks who sit with their foot on the brake at night at red lights. Shoot them. Shoot them all.

Not a police matter, it's purely civil. The easy answer is to speak to the garage and tell them that they've put the wrong window back in, supply proof of pics if needed. If they refuse to help, look for their insurance policy that legally has to be displayed and contact their insurers and claim through them. Trust me, when they see you going to do that they'll put it right.

Yup, budget nonsense. Okay, so there are a couple of Kumhos that are okay for lighter cars, but not for the Zed. MPSS or ContiSC5/6 would get my vote for wet weather importance.

Was that not the second Death Star in ROTJ?
-
Front fogs last night and this morning are essential it's pea soup here and it's freezing and twin rears are far better than one and I only use them when it's fog not rain or dark like most prats in this country So what speed were you doing using the fronts? And on what road? You never need twin rear fogs, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard One is more than enough, they're bright as hell as it is!
-
Well, exactly. All they're for is to light the very edge of the road up, so you can see the kerb when crawling along at sub-20mph. I really hate Ford for making their switches light the front fogs up regardless, even if you only need the rears on. Makes every Ford driver look an idiot. Grrr.
-
You don't need front fogs. And a single rear one is fine, unless you enjoy blinding other drivers.

If you're happy to spend that kind of cash on tyres that you want for performance (and good on you for doing so), then you'd do just as well to grab a set of the 18" Rays and put MPSS on them. Yes, it won't be the cheapest option, but it's the one I'd recommend. In terms of comfort, you may well notice a slight reduction given the smaller sidewall. However, that will be massively offset by the fact the Rays are significantly lighter than the 17" wheels (5lbs a corner!) so your car will feel lighter and nimbler on it's feet. It'll also accelerate quicker, brake in shorter distances, use less fuel etc. Basically, the best of all worlds! I'd expect ride quality to improve, tbh.

I don't think I want to ever have kids now.

Impressive tech, and something I never want to see on the roads. Ever. It's just one step closer to autonomous cars, and I can think of nothing worse. Once it starts and takes hold, you'll never be allowed to enjoy your normal car again. No car person in their right mind would be behind something like this, not when you take it to it's ultimate conclusion.
