  1. for the lsd, its actually a viscous slip diff. Most people have experience problems unless using the genuine nissan stuff. Zmanalex will be able to do you a very good price for a the lot I reckon. Drop him a pm. If i remember right, gearbox fluid, diff fluid and molyslip gearbox additive was around 90 quidish Sorry Neilp but most JDM's dont have the same diff as uk cars. Its normally a mechanical one, best bet is ask ZMANALEX he told me I didnt need the expensive diff oil, halfords stuff would do. As for the gearbox oil Alex sends out genuine nissan oil and recommends a tube of molyslip to put in too! The coolant is the green kind lol thats my input for that. You might find Zman's advice in this thread about diffs/oils helpful viewtopic.php?f=9&t=33893&hilit=JDM+diffs&start=0
  2. Lack of shims being mentioned certainly sounds like the issue
  3. So how did the GT Edition compare to GUNs I can't wait to have my manual back More seriously, although I got to test an auto back in 2009 with Nissan at Silverstone, where downshifts were always expected before the corners and upshifts on exiting corners when the s/wheel would be near on straight ahead, on a winding road it is a whole different ball game with press-on driving and the need to react to the unexpected. Locking it into the paddle change mode rather than letting the full auto function take over meant that in a straight line it felt decidedly quicker than GUNs But when it came to the twisties the fact the paddles do not rotate with the wheel meant quite a bit of fumbling if you use the s/wheel 'racing style', such that entry in and out of corners was a lot slower for me and with extra dabs on the brakes for confidence. Guess its fine if you are s/wheel shuffler but somehow my need to take the left hand off the wheel for the downshifts or the right hand off for the upshifts in flowing corners felt so awkward. And of course the gear ratios of the 7-speed auto are quite different and I found 2nd was so low that corners normally taken in GUNs in that gear left the auto screaming for a change to 3rd...... OK, so auto owners might say with a manual you need to take your left hand off to change gear anyway, but I found the the need to remove my right hand as well from the s/wheel just felt wrong. Moving on though to the real reason for the test, with Nissan proclaiming: "The principal modification has been to retune the dampers to provide the ideal balance between ride comfort and high speed handing". Testing the car on main, secondary and minor roads up to legal speed limits around Surrey/Sussex/Kent, I was struggling to find any appreciable difference in the handling/ride comfort compared to my own 370. And that is taking account of the fact the GT Edition, with less than 2k miles showing, was still taught in terms of suspension wear. Although there is no mention of changes to the suspension settings having been made, this Bridgestone shod GT Edition did appear less prone to tram-lining and did not squeal on lock when cold. The former issue has recently been significantly reduced on GUNs with the Sessantas fitted. That said I have yet to test the Sessanta's capabilities in the wet - so watch this space on my overall findings, as they say. A distinct improvement with the GT Edition was less noise transmitted into the cabin travelling over uneven surfaces was reduced with the stated revisions to the underbody insulation. I certainly found the noise in GUNs was more intrusive compared to the two previous 350z's I owned. So that change is a worthwhile improvement. But the motorway road noise from the unchanged Bridgestones was still prevalent, again something that the Sessantas seem to have addressed to a large extent. Apart from the other changes I have noted in a previous post ^^^^^, little things like the warning lights for the auto and air con being on top of the dials, rather than tucked underneath is so much better an even the fact the mats with 'curtain rings' that simply slide over the lugs which are fixed to the seat brackets, makes for easier removal than the fixings GUNs has that are a two handed and swearing job to unclip. A downside though is that there is even less cabin storage areas than mine! Now the net behind the pasenger seat has gone - (wonder if that is to do with items being squashed and setting off the air-bag warning lights?) I guess its a change across the whole 370 range and my one and only real criticsim of the 370 cabin from day 1. Owners are now left with just the central armrest box and tiny glovebox. Not even coathooks, as you find in the 350, are provided. Didn't get an opportunity to fully explore the connect premium system but certainly the touch screen facility is a real bonus when you are on the move. The sat-nav with speed cameras is also useful - but again I did not have time to see if the settings could be changed to give better advance warning of cameras. For some reason during the Sunday drive the pairing with my phone stopped working - something I have never experienced with GUNs, and of course it happened at the least opportune time The gel/pump kit has changed so that, if you use it, you now insert the bottle into the pump to fill the tyre, rather than on GUNS where you get a bigger bottle and plastic tubes and need to squeeze in manually. - pics: But I would recommend a spacesaver every time, especially as we are told that if the Gel is used the tyre canot be reused and irrespective if it works to seal the puncture. Some might say, 'oh but the extra weight' but in all honesty I think the 370 is a tad more friendly having a bit more weight in the back when you steering on the throttle 370 owners might like to compare by putting some weight in the boot..................... GUNs spacesaver (for those who may not have seen this pic before): So, some good and not so good points about the latest 370 offering but for me no auto and no stripes, if I were to place an order.

    370Z prices

+1 Makes no financial sense in the real world but gives an awful lot of these when behind the wheel. So get on and buy one and give up trying to tick every box
  5. Have a great day youngun, with love from June and me Oh to be ** again
  6. http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/h ... Holder.asp what I had in my 350 Edit:
  7. What ya having done Colin? The sills - I'm sure you will see their shape before the rear wheel arch means they are prone to stone chips. So some remedial spray work and then put in condoms, whilst hoping that the colour match is better than what the factory turned out. I gather the colour match problem arises from the the bumpers and sills being sprayed in a separate area to the rest of the car. I can live with the colour changes on my bumpers though - and as it was pointed out to me at Motorline, many Nissan models have this issue and whether we like it not is unlikley to result in a succeesfull warranty claim. Waits to be proved wrong

    GT Edition

She'll say anything to get a new handbag You lot know her too well My other half hates the whole idea of replacing the exhaust! Is the Stillen meant to be tamer than the Akroppvic - I thought it was louder than the Akro...? The answer is to hear it in the flesh. More than happy to meet up so you and your misses can see what it is like - next weekend? If interested send me a pm
  9. Mine is in for some work - lets see how it turns out

    GT Edition

Your reasoning is precisely why I opted for the Stillen -it dosen't upset the neighbours or the ear drums when you don't want it to. Having just had the use of a 370 with the standard system, even my wife said how poor it sounded after mine

    New tyres

Typical. Ever since I had the Vreds and having now put on a few hundred miles on them it hasn't rained to see what they are like in the wet. And the car is in this week for some cosmetic work so updates on both to follow
  13. Hi Stan - good to hear all is well with the family and fleet Stanski sensible when it comes to cars - pull the other one
  14. Tell them you can He will have them and if gets the order early enough a good chance the garage will have them the next day
  15. I hope not, knowing where the car is supposed to be Quite amusing really - first time I have seen another white 370 coupe on the road and there I am in another 370
  16. Not a nice experience to be stopped but at least they were reasonable and sent you on your way But a bit anoying if the system doesnn't get updated: As the next time it might be case of "OK so clear on that - lets see what else we can find", if they are on number crunching targets
  17. Welcome to the forum and a nice ZED you have there
  18. Parked here - co-incidence: Pic taken May 2011 of convoy to Wales. Passed you in a black 370 and hooted

    Amuse Skirts

They look good and should certainly help to address the stone chip issue the 370 has with OEM skirts.
  20. Yes - some cosmetic treatment - to be revealed. Not as such. I had been asked by Motorline to try their GT Edition demonstrator and let them know how I feel it compares to GUNs, so having dropped mine off today for its little treat at a bodyshop near to Motorline TW, and with the Kent/Sussex drive that starts relatively near my neck of the woods and finishes at Motorline, it all fell into place very nicely First impressions: Get to know how the auto works best. Adjust to the quietness, although I have to say on the motorway the Bridgestones are certainly more noisy than the Sessantas I have had fitted to GUNs The GT Edition (1500 miles) certainly feels taughter compared to GUNs, as expected. Especially with 13k miles on the clock and a fair amount of that being done in Wales and Scotland. Learn how the connect premium works - love the rear camera - a little test, only using the screen: Rear view some 3 feet away from the kerb: As close as I dared to the kerb: The actual distance away:
  21. Now you see it was that red mist that caused the shunt I'm a bit particular about whose rear end I get up close and personal with
  22. Whats the paint code on the label in the door shut
  23. Nice to see how this compares to GUNs Oh and, must be getting old
