Usual story, Insurers are quick enough to take your money but will use every trick in the book to get out of paying. You could be forgiven for thinking the people they employ at the coalface to deal with claims were on commission for every one they rejected. Yes there are lot of bad/false claims but having experienced a slammed door recently you do wonder Internal flight in OZ delayed, so that connecting International flight to Singapore would be missed. Advised by the airline to use another carrier so we not miss the connection. Worked fine having paid for the other carriers tickets. Claimed on the travel insurance - wouldn't re-imburse - said it was our choice to buy other tickets - could not get it through their thick skulls that had we not taken the pre-emptive action we would have been making an even bigger claim for overnight accommodation and far more expensive tickets for the international flights that under the terms of the policy they would have had no option but to pay out. On querying the rejected claim - was totally blanked. Got hold of the details of the MD of the insuring company and within 5 days had the attached. No compensation offered but then that is not in my culture anyway, just wanted fairness.

Glad you got there in the end and a good result I expect ZMANALEX will be relieved to hear there are not two handbrake systems after you indciated there might be

But as retail parks/supermarkets etc by their very nature want the 'public' on their land then there is a risk the CPS would pursue a prosecution - in your friends case I would guess becaue there was a perceived risk to public safety.

If they are privately owned car parks that are directly accessible off a public highway, they do not count as "public". That said, insurance considerations can still apply and if the owners permission not obtained, there could be repercussions if caught - cctv has a lot to answer for I laugh, because when I use to compete in National autotests I would often 'test' changes/set-ups on the car and visit a local industrial estate when everyone had gone home, tut tut But no cameras around then But I cannot condone that now of course

Sadly, and despite my post above Sarnie is right, but.. He's all grown up now with family, but dabbled in a flash car on the way and still come out smiling the other end. Good luck to him Being at the other end of the age scale I went his route but couldn't afford the flash car midway, but now everything is paid off I can at least afford a ZED and nice holidays etc. My earnings were average from my twenties to fifties but there was no way a flash car was possible. So much will depend on your future earning prospects, but all I can say is if enjoying life is a priority for you remember you only live once and if renting for the foreseeable future means you can enjoy your passion I would say go for it - as you just don't know what the future holds and you may find yourself regreting you missed out. So many younger people are having to rent now, if not by choice, so use the money that Stew has rightly pointed out will come with keeping your own place, on what you enjoy. Or go sensible.
