Having tried the auto recently for a few days, it reminded me why I didn't consider it when I was looking for a 370 in 2009, having previously driven both manual and auto on track and on the road. The fact the paddles are fixed to the column rather than the wheel shows that Nissan decided they would have more wheel shuffler customers than otherwise. Auto might be fine if you do a lot of commuting but fortunately I don't so that a greater percentage of my time in the car involves 'spirited driving' and crossed arms. In that style, trying to hit the left or right paddles through tightening/easing bends is not so easy, whereas it is only your left hand that needs to leave the wheel for the manual changes. Now if the paddles moved round with the wheel............... Besides which I also found the engine braking less effective and 2nd gear in auto is just two low in the 7 ratios so that on the tighter corners of some of my faourite roads it was 3rd gear, without hitting too many revs so that the drive out of the corners meant the engine's ideal torque range was missing. I also found myself too often using the brakes for deceleration on corner approaches rather than feeling I was in the right gear for a particular corner and the drive out. Just my personal findings of course. OK practice might improve my impression of the auto, but it isn't for me

I just wish the setting could be changed so for default it was switched 'off' and manually overidden for 'on' Rather like the annoying sat nav welcome screen that requires you press "accept" every time to access the map - not as though you have to put a code in so quite why that is there

Get rid of those awful awful tyres immediately. Before the ditch finders do as their name suggests. Or worse. Either get some Bridgestone RE050s to match the front, or ideally replace the whole set. I'd suggest Falken FK 452. Good advice Have any of you experience of Maxxis Ma-Z1 tyres? There is a "Drift" variant of the MA-Z1 which is not as good as a road tyre as the "standard" MA-Z1, unfortunately it was the Drift variant which autoexpress tested (and it rated it above some premium contenders): So, they are not as good as the bridgstones, but they aren't ditch finders. I bought some replacement alloys for my Z that had "sunway" tyres on - these were truly dreadful and true ditchfinders causing the car the slide around in the wet - they didn't last long. So I would suggest the OP gets their alignment checked (inc castor / camber) by a reputable motorsport place. Alignment is critical on a performance car like a Z. I would check all the suspension bushings (bannana bar etc) as these so crack and cause alignment to shift. Check the date code of tyres - I would replace after 7 years on a road car as they do "go off". No, I have not tried the Maxxis Ma-Z1 and it would seem from your post you, wisely, chose to fit them all round. Its the mix of two completely different tyre types that from the all the hundreds of tyre posts I have seen on here indicate is invairably the factor that can lead to sudden loss of grip. The structure/compounds/tread patterns vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and indeed within the same company. For instance it is it is well known that mixing Bridgestones 040's with 050's can be quite lethal. And I have moved away from the 'preferred' tyre choice of Nissan by fitting Vredsteins Ultrac Sessantas - although listed as a premium tyre they seem largely untried as far as I am aware on the 370's although there has been good reports of them on 350's. So, I am being something of a guinea pig as I really felt the 050's could be improved upon when pushing on, especially when you want to steer the car with the throttle.

From the two stock read-outs it is apparent that the Stillen exhaust, on its own, produces an extra 14 or so lbs ft of torque and 15 or so extra bhp. And we know the ECU is not cancelling that gain. Add an uprev and it then releases an extra 10 or so lbs ft of torque and 12 or so extra bhp. So what would you predict the extra would be with the HFC's + uprev, as based upon the Miltek/HKS set-up it would seem a Stillen equipped 370 might produce significantly better figures? Perhaps further aided with panel filters other than the stock items?

A few BHP down on yours then Chris, so the Stillen exhaust + intakes, but without the HFC's on the auto, is seemingly better Just noting that for Sipar's information
