^^ I bet that sounds fantastic. B)

Lot of money. Still could be worth it though for the sound alone.;)

Was offered a CLK V12 recently for £7k, would prefer to have a SL tin top convertible..

Sound is brilliant. Need the straight through F1 Pace Car exhaust though..

Don't worry "Black Betty" is NOT been replaced.

Always wanted another Merc SL but with a bigger engine and a few more horses.

Came across this on fleabay, what do you think ?. Looks cheap enough.

very nice, I'd swap the zed for it, the v8 is an addictive noise.

Would not swap Black Betty,

I still have a Merc S500 LWB which has had 1 owners from new I'm the second

with 62 K on the clock full Merc history and cost £96,000 pounds new.

Its immaculate and worth about £5k if that.

All second hand Merc's drop like a stone. :surrender:

That's why I like big expensive Merc's second hand, buy them right, run them for a year or

two and you will almost certainly get your money back..Free Motoring..

(Only if you do less than 4k miles a year.).

Oh Yesssss, providing it is at the right price.

Keep in mind that it is an 11 year old car and the guy appears to have spent a fortune putting/keeping it right.

Still plenty more to go wrong with it though, but still worth a punt.

I was looking at the SL55AMG when changing the 350. I couldn't do it because I'd feel I wasn't driving a real AMG when the SL65AMG is the top of the range.

Regarding the advert - 560bhp my arse! and that number plate isn't worth the plastic it's made off

Had a standard SLK for a few years and loved it but I did get pi**ed of with the basic service charge, never had a bill for less than £700 quid.It was always surprising that rear bulbs were found to have passed their date and needed to be replaced?? The end came when my beautiful detailed car came back to me with their professional valet that transformed the immaculate body into a bag of sh#te that looked as though the gang from tesco had done it, so it was goodbye to our merc dealer in Lincoln.

If I'm honest, SL55 AMG has been a bit of a favourite of mine for a while. It's certainly one of the cars I'm considering next. It's a terrific amount of car for the money.

They are known to have a few issues, but I think that's true of that era of SL generally. Certainly up until 2007-ish, when the updated version appeared.

That being said, if you're / one is in the position to consider an SL55 as a daily running car, those factors / cost will have been considered.

If I was going to get one, it would in preference, be black, with the red leather interior.
