New member considering a 350z

Recommended Posts

I'm Mike and I have always liked the look and sound of the 350z.

I currently have a 2004 Honda S2000 which I wanted for years. It's been a great car which I have done 20k in a year with no issues and that includes 2 track days and 2 autosolos which I came 1st and 3rd in class. The car is everything I thought it would be but with the miles I do I do tend to change cars every year. I like to keep my cars fairly standard so my choices are limited to cars that are good out of the box, I'm happy to change tyres and brakes but that's about all as it's my daily drive so I think the 350z fits the bill.

Previous cars include a few BMW's including an E39 M5, an ep3 Civic Type R, Golf VR6, clio 172. I also have a Rover Mini Cooper which I have supercharged but sadly that just sits at home not doing alot at the moment.

I have joined in the hope someone else has gone from an S2000 to a 350z, so I can hear from your experiencs of the 2 and for me to learn as much as possible before I start to look at any cars.

I am looking for a car that is around 2005-06 GT spec and navigation is a bonus but not essential, budget at the moment is upto 9k but I am fairly sure I will have some change to get it mechanically sorted as soon as I get it. I'm not keen on loud colours so will probably be black or blue as my first choice.

Also are there any specialists in the Farnborough area for these? I am very lucky that I have a honda specialist literally 2 roads away from my house and they are well known for Hondas and racing, so I have been spoiled a bit.

Welcome along, in terms of specialists in the Farnborough Area I don't know of any. Many people on here say great things about Abbey Motorsport and Horsham Developments both are roughly an hour away. I suspect you're talking about TGM in Fleet when you're talking of the Honda specialist. I have heard they can take care of 350s as well, I have had a couple of friends of mine that owned 350s recommended them to me but I am yet to use anyone as I have only had the car a couple of months! Good luck in your search!

Cheers for the welcome.

Yeah I do use TGM and have done for a couple of years, I figured they will still work on it but if there are nissan specialists they will know the little quirks with working on them. I have also heard of the 2 companies you mentioned so I will have a look into those as well

:welcome: I'm based in Farnborough too ... so interested in the responses you might get :) (also new Z owner) ..

Someone recommended a local chap to me recently, and I will no doubt be meeting with him / them in the very near future as my trusted Indi isn't that local (Chertsey)

www.jdmodified.com will make myself known to them shortly.

Also, TGM as above have been recommended to me too, they're in Fleet.

Search the forum for S2000 and you'll find the info you seek .. :)

have to add here ..... I bought the Zed based on looks, specification, price and modability! ... AND the fact - you don't see many about, and I like that ...

then, it appears, slowly but surely, that Farnborough is swamped with them!!! :) :) :) I must have been walking around with my eyes shut!!

Welcome aboard Mike. :welcome:

Maybe you could contribute some opinions to this thread as a good member on here is looking at an S2000 as a possible replacement for his 350Z. ;)

Funny enough i had already posted on it, it appears that he knows the car very well anyway

Actually just read your post on there. ;)

At least you gave him some more food for thought. :)

:welcome: along

With that budget you should find what you want

Keeping it standard - Hmmm heard that before on here ;)

I am fairly picky when it comes to cars and hopefully my budget gives a decent choice.

I spent 4 hours looking at my E39 M5 that i had driven to Fife (from Farnborough) to go and view it with the intension of driving it home. The list of things wrong with it was close to £3k but we agreed a reasonable price and i left with the car but i was prepared to drive home in my car still even after driving that far to see it.

I said i was going to keep my mini standard and that currently runs 141bhp (up from the 63 it had as standard) and has an eaton m45 supercharger plus all the other parts needed.

I managed to keep the M5, CTR and S2k standard, although my definition of standard is allowing for a decent sounding induction kit, better tyres and brakes, so not fully oem :)
