    Cayman 718

Having recently bought a Cayman S 987.2 I would stick with the 6 pot. I also drove a mates Boxster 987.2 and the top end power wasn't there and it felt very flat but it drove nicely at low revs. Yeah the new one will be quicker but for me if I was spending that much I would sacrifice a little straight line speed for the sound and driving enjoyment.
  2. When I had my S2000 and my Zed I had my no claims on the S2000 as it was my daily I was keeping and I just insured the Zed with a 3k limit while it was advertised and it was about £300 for a year with zero no claims. I was 33 at the time, clean licence and no accidents not that it seems to make any real difference.
  3. There is one tomorrow night that I know of, a couple of mates are going to it
  4. I was close to signing up to the finance package on the CTR but I couldn't bring myself to sign up to it knowing I was paying that much and after 36 months I knew I had to pay the same again. Once you start on that route it's very hard because you get nothing back if you give it back. Also I got offered 6k for my 2007 350z with 50k full history and good spec as part ex. For now I have stuck with my old car and spend the extra money on track days or autosolos
  5. TGM gets my recommendation
  6. It's the same with any road that someone is going to drive spiritedly. Unless it's clear and you can see a very long distance on the road or you have driven it once already stick to the speed limit or just a couple of mph over not silly speeds. As I have got older I'm much happier to sit at 60 and take the corner properly rather than trying to just drive 'fast'
  7. That video makes me not want to be associated with owning an S2000, but I do own one and love it. Stick to the track if you must drive like a dick or don't film it and post it online.
  8. I always found my 350z boot useless and the S2000 has a more usable space due to the extra height, this could change things as I keep looking at 370z Nismo cars, guessing the same could be done on there?
  9. I suck at your rules no lights on
  10. I've nearly always use Shell as there are 4 with 2 miles of my house, so whichever direction I go I can fill up easily. Yeah it costs a bit more but it's convenient and the advert says the engine will be better treated due to the additives In my old E39 M5, it made 12 more hp on the same rollers with tesco momentum, not scientific as different days etc but that is a big variance for the same car with no changes apart from fuel between the runs, about a month apart on a standard car.
  11. For a little while I have wanted a little more noise from the exhaust. I already have the UK exhaust mod with 28mm pipe and I've heard other cars with a larger pipe and wasn't sure. There were a few exhausts that came up for sale recently and after me being very indecisive I picked up a second hand mugen ap1 exhaust. This one appealed because it doesn't have 4 inch tailpipes which I do not want on the back of my car, hopefully this should be subtle enough. Fitted it this afternoon and so far I'm liking the sound, it's a deeper sound than I was expecting but not too loud and doesn't drone so for me a great compromise I think I need to tweak the position slightly but it's dark and it's not causing issues just me wanting it to sit perfectly

  13. Fairly sure I saw your car as I walked through the car park
  14. Honda S2000 - 46,590 miles Car was serviced by Honda Bracknell today, yet again they have done a good job. I went for a 12+ service, gearbox and diff oil was also changed. There is a click from the rear which wasn't identified but now I'm thinking about it, it may be the hub nut so I will get a couple of new ones to put on. I like the fact that they collect it and drop it back to me lazy but means I have no hassle and it keeps the full Honda history. Plans are now to fit the winter alloys when the temps drop a bit and continue to use it daily and enjoy it
  15. And I thought my 2004 S2000 had a lot of Blue at least it wasn't cloth
  16. The weather wasn't great in Farnborough https://flic.kr/s/aHskn4ji9H
  17. I remember a few years ago i was complaining about when i bought a newer car costing £500 to tax it for a year, in reality it makes no difference as said above its such a small amount when spread out over a year you don't notice it. When i bought mine i specifically wanted the HR because it was the last of the 350z, most of the little things had been fixed, looks better, nicer lights, also they were known to be a little better on oil usage and a bit more power.
  18. My photos from today, I only took one of a 350z driving in though https://flic.kr/s/aHskm1TXpj
  19. It looks like a nice car but for me the mods don't add value and would put me off viewing, can the diffuser be removed and sold seperately without causing any damage? Guessing you don't have the standard exhaust either. I sold my completely standard car (2007 GT 52k with full history and nav) recently for a similar amount so to me the price is about right but the market is slow for the HR because people see the early cars for a few grand and don't know the differences so these look very expensive
  20. Car has just been sold locally, mixed feelings because i didn't really love the car but i will miss the noise it made
  21. I recently did a trip to Swansea from Farnborough and back. My route home involved the Black Mountain road for a couple of runs as well and i still managed an average of 36mpg. I did not have my cruise at that low speed either. On a run these cars are really good for what they are.
  22. That's the thing, a large part of it is not. See EVO this month (or my post a couple of pages back) where they discuss it. I missed that post as the thread went pretty quickly. I was meaning the stick on 'bits' on the rear by the lights, the vents didn't look like they were actually functional on the car I drove but I didn't go crawling round on the floor to have a proper look
  23. I've been meaning to clean the in-laws drive for a little while, so be rude not to clean and take some pics of the car today, I've done about 5k in it since buying it in October.
  24. As much as it looks gastly in places it is there for aero reasons, not just for the chavs at halfords to love
  25. I had my test drive last weekend in the new Type R. My local place has the blue Type R as the demo vehicle but when I mentioned I wanted the polished metal paintwork she took me to the warehouse where they had one ready for a customer, which is the colour I want. I'm not a turbo fan, I would happily sacrifice some power for the way a n/a drives but as all modern cars are going that way I needed to see what they were like. It hasn't really changed my mind to be honest. Exterior - It does look very aggressive and in proportion, however I do not like the fact that the rear end is not as wide as the front. The rear arches and back end have been talked about a lot and to me, it is a let-down still, Is it enough to put me off owning one, no. Interior - The seats are epic, even for a fat bastard like me comfortable and hold you in place. To me the downside is the pattern and material on the front seats and the fact the rears are different, I was told that I can have them trimmed in leather, so that is something I will be looking into. Suspension - speaking to the sales woman I pointed out I wanted a slightly longer test drive on some bumpy A and B roads as that is where I will be driving it along with motorway, she was great and changed the route to suit my needs. In normal setting the car is as close to being perfect as it can be for what I want from a car. +R you can feel the instant change and on the bumpy roads I would never press that button but 99% of the time there would be no need to. Noise - To me the interior sound is great at low revs, but when the last 1-1500rpm the engine noise takes over and it’s not 'nice', sadly at that point you cannot hear the exhaust anymore, so that would need to be sorted. Driving - I love n/a cars, the response you get it hard to beat, sadly it is noticeable it’s a turbo in the Type R but it’s not awful, it does pull from low down but you feel yourself waiting for the power to build, not my preference. One thing I didn't like is pulling onto a dual carriageway 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear the car is pulling all over the road on power. Is that the power, tyre size or suspension I don't know but when I got back into the S2000 and drove it hard and realised just how civilised it actually is considering how fun it is as well. Have I signed the order forms, no
