Smeary windscreen

My windscreen is being left with 2 streaks - 1 on the drivers side and 1 on the passenger side - on the return stroke.

 

I've replaced the wipers - still there

I've scrubbed the window with shampoo and AG Glass Polish - still there

I've used rainx - this helps because the wipers run less

 

suggestions on what else to try and clean the window please

Andrex paper towels ? - have used AG lint towels and cleaned off with microfibre

Clay and clean with vinegar or Coke.

Coke that's an expensive window clean!

 

 

Last tip - replace the windscreen

Methylated spirit; clean the screen and wiper blades. It is very affective, you will be surprised how muuch dirt/grease comes off new wiper blades.

Andrex with virgin olive oil always works well for me........

Try claying it, if that doesn't work then try vinegar, if that still doesn't work try an IPA wipe. Clean the blades with vinegar at the same time too.

 

If none of that works, try Wasso's suggestions. If that doesn't work, replace the car. :wink:

On a serious note feel if it is a ridge or a channel.

If its the latter then the screen is scratched and you may need to replace.

Ok - have now wiped my smears with some Andrex (and some white spirits)

 

wait and see if that works

White spirit may have been too "oily"
