x20drb Posted November 12, 2012 Share Posted November 12, 2012 Hi Guys, thought id introduce myself as ive just purchased my first zed! ive brought an 05 Sunset orange one with some GT goodies, very pleased so far! ill attach a pic i have a little problem however, my insurance dosent run out on my other car til next month, when i am planning to insure the zed with my extra years no claim, but i dont want it sitting on the drive with no insurance, so what can i do? can insure my mum on it for £260 or sorn it, but i want to transfer my number plate before i insure it Any ideas would be great! Id have thought that you could just swap the insurance over to the zed for the remaining month, which will cost hardly anything as it'll be just the difference for the remaining month, and then renew as normal in a months time with the extra NCB. I had same problem when i purchased my Z...as still had 2 months left on my other insurance - and when i phoned them - they said they cant insure me on Z (i was just under 25 then as well) and that was a company that specialises in high end cars companies like asda etc were quoting me with no problem, and they wouldnt! Best company i found - was admiral/elephant with one of your parents as a NAMED driver(so you still the main driver) they quoted me 1600 for myself, added my mum and its gone down to 860, i was happy with that but left the payment till the morning...but they phoned me up themselves in the morning saying "lets see if i can make you a better offer" (i didnt say that i was quite happy with 860 quote lol) and they lowered it to 820.
