glrnet Posted July 26, 2012 Share Posted July 26, 2012 The obvious major down sides are the road closures that will affect the whole area around Dorking this weekend, already there are no stopping zones in place and the A25 & A24 will both be closed from around 4am Saturday and Sunday morning until early evening!! A zed meet was rearranged too! Mrs glrnet went shopping today instead of Saturday and it was heaving So all in all a bloody great inconvenience all round, however my opinion has somewhat mellowed after my experience today. I was on my way back from a job in West London (which was more of a nightmare to get to than usual because of the additional traffic caused by the Olympic traffic lanes ) when I came upon a group of cyclists on the A24 approaching Dorking (we now have a road racing cycling monument on one of our roundabouts that allegedly cost £25k but I digress) upon closer inspection it became obvious that the lycra enclosed buttocks were of the female variety I am now a great fan of womens cycle road racing and can personally vouch for the Cuban and Dutch teams in particular Awaits flaming from Vik54 and others And no I don't have any photos Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm also not loving that the whole stretch of road now has a 50mph limit on it. My girlfriend lives in Ashtead and she's pretty unhappy as she won't really be able to get out of Ashstead until the evening as all of the routes out from her are blocked, even junction 9 on the M25 will be shut as the race goes across both junction roundabouts and on the A245 link road between them Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Maybe I've been unlucky but the female cyclists I see usually look more like men than the men. I am obviously turning into a grumpy old git but I kinda liked it when I was a kid and you just went for a ride on your bike. On the way back from a wedding and the M25 was grid locked as usual so I cut through the back roads just to get stuck the other side of Kingston from where I live. The stewards had absolutely no idea what was going on - 1 told me he lived 80 miles away, this was the first time he'd been to the area and they'd been given no information about alternative routes! Also most of the roads that were closed didn't have road closed signs until you got right to the end and had a queue of people doing u-turns. I keep thinking of baking cakes and making tea to sell them on their way past. I've already got lots of garden chairs and tables. Hmm, I feel a business plan forming. Bare Knuckle Boxing = Win When we were younger we used to box in my back garden (had to wear gloves though as too much damage got done the first time with none) with my mates, we used to fight until somebody got knocked out. Was a great laugh but the older we got we started to realise how much damage we were doing to each other. I still have a scar on my lip where the skin goes thick and needs pulled off so its not noticeable lol, 8 years ago my mate uppercutted me and put my teeth through my lip, now i'm living with a scar I'm sure I still have the video's on my old mobile from years ago, if I can find them i'll post them up Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
