Chris141084 Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 After a change in finances and a near miss buying a crapspeed system, can anyone recommend a cat back system that gives no drone at motorway speeds, a great sound but not ridiculously loud like the k1? Quote
Sargara Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Theres no diffinitive answer as everyones tastes are different, not to mention not every 2 cars are alike. All you really have to go on are youtube clips or attending a meet and listening for yourself. Whats the budget? Quote
Chris141084 Posted July 4, 2016 Author Posted July 4, 2016 1k ish budget. I've had a k1 before, which was fun for a while but a real PITA on a long drive. Something aggressive sounding on full throttle but needs to be usable for a daily runner. I'll have a check on YouTube Quote
Chris141084 Posted July 4, 2016 Author Posted July 4, 2016 I'll stay away from the cobra then, cheers mate Quote
nissanman312 Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Invidia Gemini for build quality sound and price 3 Quote
GMballistic Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Invidia Gemini for build quality sound and price ^^ This imo. Had one on my old Zed and was great imo ~ no drone to my ears as far as I could tell on motorways anyway. Quote
GMballistic Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 The other exhaust system I've always loved the sound of is the Motordyne but it's "slightly" above your budget unfortunately. Just to give you an idea though of the sound of it.... 1 Quote
slipstream Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Am in the same boat as you Chris but am thinking of getting the ark grip within the next couple of weeks 4 Quote
da.murf Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I have decats and milltek y pile and catback. Zero drone and sounds lively. Needed the decats though to open it up a bit. Quote
SHEZZA Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Another + 1 for the invidia Gemini add some Berks hfc's too and you've got a winning combo with no drone, love mine. Quote
PPod Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Montordyne and art pipes for the win its a mental price £2k plus but for me was worth it. Great note 1 Quote
ASemper Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 ARK GRiP! Never suffered from any form of drone and it looks/sounds superb In fact I am going to stick some HFC on soon as I want more volume! 2 Quote
Commander Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I have Milltek & HFC - all I do is motorway driving - it's perfect... Like "OEM++" Quote
MarkSt Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Love my Invidia Gemini system, no rasp at all, i do get some 'drone' as I go through 1900-2000 rpm ish (not paid quite that much attention to it), but this means at motorway speeds in 6th there isn't any drone at all, actually at 70 I can't hear the exhaust. However at 60 in 6th the revs are that bit lower and around the 'drone' area, but drop it to 5th and it's no issue. I haven't done very many miles with it as yet, maybe 200-300 so it could still be bedding in and that 'drone' may go. I would suggest if you can get along to a meet in your area and listen to what people have installed on their motors Mark Quote

It was quite strange - I thought there would be a gradual change over time, but almost overnight on the 600 mile mark it got much less droney. Other people noticed too, without my prompting! Also found it popped and banged a lot more too. 1 Quote

Payco Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) I love my ARK. Its sounds spot on for burble and pops etc and looks amazing. Edited July 5, 2016 by Payco 2 Quote
