  1. That's the point. The OP refers to them as someone elses items, but both links are stuff to his. Basically, he's pimping his own stuff on eBay.
  2. Missed yours MPSS have a special inside section dedicated to wet weather driving, although tbh pretty much any decent tyre will be fine for driving in wet and cold. Obviously winter tyres are significantly better in sub 7c temps, but you have to live with increased noise and reduced feel and performance in the proper dry to compensate. Honestly though, millions of drivers for decades have managed to survive British winters without needing winter tyres, and you sound like a pretty sensible person by not using yours in the snow so I reckon you'll be fine.
  3. Flog the fronts to offset the cost, will be more than worth your while. That's what I do when I change brands.
  4. With turbo torque and an easy to drive FWD chassis, you'd be surprised. All the RS Renaults are immense B-road blasters.
  5. PZeroes are crap, though. What Bridgestones? 040s were also gash.
  6. TTRS would be a very, very good buy. Not for the OP's £25K budget sadly, but as a long-term proposition I reckon that's a great shout.
  7. Pfft, you can't drive a house Give it some thought though mate. It's another £200, which is peanuts compared to the cost of a house. Chuck it on the mortgage!
  8. Bin the stud bolt. It's just extra weight in the worst possible place. Yes, I know it only weighs a gnat's c*ck, but I'm still right
  9. But it is, if you're running a 350Z. If you can afford the fuel + VED + insurance +servicing, then making sure it's on decent boots is the least of your problems! But anyway, without going down that route I would say that the Avons are the best choice there by some margin. I wouldn't even consider the other two. I would chuck in the Falken FK453 to the mix though. Also, Ekonda is an awesome name, I may change mine to that!
  10. Oh I know, but not from stock which is kinda the point
  11. Sorry, but I have to take umbrage with that. How can an individual's opinion on what is or is not fast enough or, more importantly, fun enough, ever be considered fact? Yes, I have the best of both worlds, but if the 911 was to go (and it was up for sale for a good few months) then I'd only have the MX-5 and that would've more than satisfied me in terms of driving experience. If a car needs masses of power to be fun then it's not a very good car, simple as. An Elise S1 will struggle to be any quicker than a diesel Mondeo, but I'd suggest that the Lotus is about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on when it comes to cars. If you want to be like that, then 370 offers very little: It's heavy, makes a terrible noise, and on the roads will be left for dead by an RS Megane. Why spend £30K on a car that doesn't offer the full experience?
  12. My shortlist of cars included everything from a 118bhp Elise S1, a Clio 182, and a 220bhp DC5 Type R. I just fancied a shot in my dream car, that's all. I also own a 130bhp (very optimistic!) mk1 MX-5. 0-60 in about a week, top speed that barely touches the national limit, yet it's more fun than the 911 when I'm in the mood. For me, the package as a whole is to be considered when buying a fun car, not just how quick in a straight line or how many ponies it has.
  13. Pirellis are crap. No feedback, wet grip is poor. I would recommend a set of FK453s (based on other's experience with them), and a good geo setup. For the latter, let us know whereabouts you're based and I'm sure someone can recommend somewhere local. With regards to wearing on the inside edge, that's pretty normal for a sports car as camber is your friend when it comes to fast road driving. You can have a more neutral setup, but you'll have less grip because of it. If it's extreme wear though, then that's obviously not great and a balance can easily be found.

    Mixed tyres newbie

The Zed runs staggered sizes front to back to maintain a neutral balance between over and understeer. Profile is the % of the width, so not unusual to have different sizes. I have no idea what size tyres you need to run on 20" wheels, but those tyres you have on there are bloody awful! Have a read of this and make your own mind up though as to whether mixed tyres are a good idea or not. I'm sure someone else will be along to advise of the correct sizes on 20" wheels, the miata.net calculator appears to be down for me.
  15. http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=28333 No power increase.
  16. It does have faults (crappy gear change, awful engine note piped to the cabin, dreadful plastics), but as a long term ownership prospect for people that like modding, I reckon it's worth a punt
  17. It was fine, perhaps a bit softer than I might've liked but then it's designed to cover bad roads quickly which would certainly help with that kind of setup. Mid-corner adjustment was good, although you need to be quite harsh with your foot inputs due to the lack of torque which can take some getting used to. The steering allows for a good amount of minor adjustment though, so that kind of offset the dull throttle.
  18. That's probably the quickest that car has ever gone.
  19. Pretty much because it didn't try and oversteer at every single corner. Whilst the fact that the 'Yota does like to have it's arse hanging out all the time is probably half of the appeal, I much preferred the way the stiffer front springs on the Scoob allowed the front end to tuck in quicker. This meant you could get back on the power earlier and ring the neck out of the engine, and since that's exactly what you need to do to make progress it seemed like the way to go. The interior is slightly less awful in the BRZ too. We did come very close to buying the BRZ but the numbers just didn't stack up in the end. Anyone who thinks that 200bhp isn't plenty enough for the roads probably needs to learn how to drive
  20. MX-5 2.0L isn't quicker than a BRZ86, trust me. I've driven all three and the BRZ is by far my favourite.
  21. You'd have thought so, unless they fancy giving someone else a punt, maybe someone from GP3?
  22. Yeah, let's see the crowds at Monza boo him then!
