  1. How do you think reducing heat reduces the lag? A turbo works by compressing air and forcing it into the combustion chamber. The more air between turbo and chamber, the longer it takes to compress that air. Wrapping of the exhaust will not make any difference to the lag, only help to reduce intake temps in the engine bay, a feat which is better accomplished by intercooling or chargecooling. No harm in wrapping at all, but it won't benefit the car in the way you think. You won't be increasing the lag a bit, you'll be increasing it massively by a factor of however much longer rear mount pipe work is to front mount. I'm guessing at at least twice as much, more likely three or four times.

    Best tyres

Best road tyres available for ANY car right now are the MPSS. The extra cost will be made more palatable by the extra wear: As an example, I get approx 10K miles out of a pair of 050A rears on my 911, my mate in his even heavier at the rear 911 T4S has just broken 20K miles on his MPSS rears, with a fraction over 3mm remaining. Driving styles are similar, although he's heavier on the brakes than me. Make of that what you will.
  3. @StevoD: No harm in increasing the stagger, all you do is make the car more prone to understeer which is the safer option. Most manufacturers set their cars up this way with regards to other suspension settings from the factory, stops numpties binning their cars as they drive out of the dealership Nowt wrong with increasing the likelihood of oversteer either, so long as you know what you're doing and what to expect. It's just not a great idea to do it via tyre widths as it promotes snap oversteer: Much better to do it subtly with toe, camber, ARB and pressure alterations, IMHO.
  4. You really shouldn't run tyres outside of the manufacturer's spec, as it's just asking for trouble. But no, I was referring to the width of the tyres, not the profile. If you run 235 on the front, then run 255 on the back, you keep the 20mm stagger and stay inside the manufacturer recommendations.

You sure? My mate's is def Estoril, and it's just an early SMG cab AFAIK.
  6. Wheel widths can be the same, tyre widths must be different. Even if the traction control is happy with you running same width tyres, you won't be as the car will be massively prone to oversteer. What size are the wheels? You won't be able to run stock sizes on 9.5" wheels on the front, 235 is the lowest you should go really.
  7. Yup, but Mclaren will be using the Merc turbo lump.
  8. How much lag would you like with your turbo, sir? More pipework between turbo and intake = more lag. More lag = less driveability. With a rear-mounted setup, you're exchanging throttle response for ease of maintenance. Only you will know if that's something you're prepared to compromise on.
  9. Yup, get under and have a good look. Pics if you want, then we'll have a look for you.
  10. I got the blimp. It was worth it at the start of the game to open the map up and see where I was going, but apart from that it's a bit useless.
  11. Okay, so maybe 7 mins looking at the time stamp. 5 of those were spent getting your link to work though!
  12. Mine's taking an age to boot up now, as well as load up the DLC in RockBand3. I think the HD is on it's way out, however I'm loathe to buy a new console just yet. If I can wait until the Xbone is out, then that will have all my attention and I can then wait for the 360 to drop in price, then I'll have a spanky new one to keep for aaaaaaaaages,
  13. True, however it could possibly be that it's still your console, could it not? If your mate's copy works fine in his, then I would suggest that it has to be your end. How old is the console?
  14. My brother reversed my truck into a tree last week. And a big tree, not a little sapling.
  15. So your new copy doesn't work on your console Your mate's new copy doesn't work on your console I'm seeing a pattern here, and it's not the game...
  16. No, you cannot forward date the tax. You'll have to queue up with the plebs on the 1st with the new keeper supplement I'm afraid. At least, AFAIK.
  17. Meh, they don't really have a choice. They either repair or refund at this point, although they may well surprise you and sort everything out amicably, albeit slowly
  18. No need to remove the engine cover, just a photo of the bonnet up would be good to see. If you've got the paperwork, you're laughing.
  19. Post-natal abortion. It's the way forward for idiots who believe stuff like this. Bloody mongtards. And then they compound their mistake by actually admitting to it on the interweb! Sorry, what was that you were saying again Graham?
  20. The tax band is set when the car is registered: As yours was done after March 2006, you'll pay whatever the rate is for the emissons, so the £460 or whatever it is will not change regardless of what you do. Even if it was a 309 car, you'd still be paying that. You have no comeback there, so don't waste your time. Against the dealer, it's a different story. Unless you have that it's a 309 car in writing (On the invoice? On an email enquiry?), I suspect that the law will not find in your favour if it went to court as on the balance of probabilities, it's likely the dealer did not tell you that it was a 309 car. I'm not calling you a liar, in fact I completely believe you, however I suspect a judge will not. As such, you're very much reliant on the dealership themselves to reimburse you maybe £1500 tops for your woes, but I'm guessing you'll be pissing up the wind here. What I would do is pop down and see them, and hopefully the same sales guy is there. Ask him if he remembers you, get him to confirm that you asked for a 309 car in casual conversation, then get him to inspect yours along with one of the techs and then the ball should drop. At that point, you've kinda got him over a barrel. Do it all friendly like, as if you've just popped in for a chat, and give him enough rope to hang himself with. If you go in all b=guns blazing you'll get nowhere, as they'll just close ranks.
  21. Oh I dunno, if a main dealer tells you something then it's probably reasonable to believe it. Terrible if they did, though. Unless you've got it in writing...
