  1. There's a billion more things to it, like how fresh the fuel is, and whether or not the fuel actually was 97/98/99 in the first place (could be higher!).
  2. No, 050As are excellent tyres, I didn't see you had an HR so that's my fault. It's the 040s which are sh*t, I ran the 050As on my 911 and they really were supremely impressive.
  3. In that case, I would stick strictly to either Canon or Nikon. Nowt wrong with other brands, but there's not a good enough reason to switch for the purposes you're after. Is it a surprise present? If not, then I'd take your Dad into a shop and get him to try out the cameras at the budget end of their ranges. IIRC that's the Nikon D3300 and the Canon EOS 1200D at the moment, although you'll probably find some bargain D3200s around as well right now. Doesn't matter which shop, you're not going to buy from there so even Currys will do. I think I'd be looking at the 3300/3200 more than the 1200D, as I believe the screen is slightly bigger on the rear. I also happen to be a Nikon person myself though, so may be slightly biased When I tried both brands back to back, there were less irritating features about the Nikon than the equivalent Canon, but then that's a very personal thing. Either of those bodies mentioned will give great results with a decent lens, and tbh that's where the real money you have to lay down is. Depending on what the project is, a bundled kit lens may not be suitable so you might have to look at buying just the body and then finding the best deal on the correct lens. I've seen some great shots done by people on proper low-rent cameras, and some crap shots done by people on £5K worth of gear. Unless he's already familiar with the principles of DSLR photography, then there's no point buying anything too fancy, as it'll just give confusing options when really it's not needed IMHO. http://www.wexphotographic.com/digital-slr-cameras/b3065?sortby=1 Always good for prices when you do come to buy, and great customer service too. That's where I get most of my bits from these days. If there's something specific you want though, I can check duty free prices at the airport and am happy to pick something up for you if it saves you a few quid
  4. OEMS on the rear? As in 040s? They're not really much better, you'll be losing a lot of grip and feel by running those too! But yeah, crap tyres and crap alignments can ruin a car faster than anything else in terms of enjoyment.
  5. Does he want a point and click, or something more complex like a DSLR?

Or where you were in the jungle alone and had to **** off a rhino with your bare hands
  7. I was just going to say that!
  8. Same reason people spend a fortune on body kits whilst not doing any power mods: To make the car look faster than it actually is?
  9. Who did the what now? Swearnet trailer park wotsits?
  10. If you sent them in the same envelope at the same time I reckon there's more than a reasonable chance
  11. The car stopped being his the second the deal was completed. He may well still be down as the RK though, until the paperwork goes through at least.
  12. You might get lucky, they can be helpful if you include a covering letter to explain although it's a bit too late for that now. Fingers crossed it works out for you Jeff.

    TV

Given that a TV inspector (sorry, 'enquiry officer') has zero right to enter a house, and can no longer just call the police to assist, I'd be telling them to politely FRO should a knock at the door happen. They can get a search warrant, but I bet they won't because they'll find it bloody hard to impress upon a magistrate that it's worth it. I love this bit though, from the TV Licencing website: Oooh, terrifying!
  14. Doesn't this kind of thread usually go like this? "I own a 350, and that's the best!" "I own a 370, and that's the best!" "I don't own either, however I'll make a rational and well-thought out argument as to which one I think is better." Other two: "SHUT UP YOU'RE NOT EVEN ALLOWED AN OPINION WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING HERE ARGH RANT RANT RANT!!!11" Or something like that.
  15. If you've traded your car in with the plate still on it, you no longer have any legal right to that plate I'm afraid. The trader now has to do it, and make you the nominee.
  16. Indeed. She's the best leader Labour have never had.
  17. Thankfully not.
  18. Dave didn't come out well when debating, but handled the heckler very well. Also, his speeches were the best of the night. Ed creeped me out by staring at the camera all the time, and put your bloody hand down! Nick was excellent throughout, and that's why he got votes last time. Nicola was okay, but with a consistent ME ME ME SCOTLAAAAAAND all the way you know she's going to screw the rest of the UK. Leanne is a bit of a MILF. I wish I was Welsh to vote for her She was pretty good, actually. Natalie came across as a complete nutter with no ideas, which is what she is. And she looks like Gollum. Nigel sadly didn't shine as I'd hoped. Picked a bad topic on HIV, even if he is correct, and came back to immigration too often.
  19. Why people think they have the right to f*ck with another persons car is beyond me. It's never right, certainly not for the 'crime' of simply parking a bit close. If you park defensively, you'll never have an issue. Sometimes it's the fault of the car parking space being so small, and if you then have to climb over the pax seat to get in, is it that much of a hardship? Blimey, some folks really do get a bit precious.
  20. He made my custom gear knobs for the MX5 & MR2. Very reasonably priced too, give him a shout if you want something specific.

They're only £80 brand new, don't be so tight
  22. Or like, it's fine.
  23. IT'S GOING TO EXPLODE, FLY YOU FOOL
  24. Welcome to the real world. You cannot get employers just to 'create real jobs' if by doing so it then puts their company at risk. Trust me, businesses actively seek out those who want to work, who are good at their jobs and who want to commit long-term, as it massively helps with strategic planning. If they cannot do so and have to look towards zero contracts just to be able to keep going then either they're a crap business that no-one wants to work for, or the available workforce just isn't up to scratch. Life isn't fair. Life is pretty crap most of the time. If you outlaw zero contracts, you WILL remove an employment option. You and I then take up the slack by higher benefit costs. Now, if you think that is fair and it's the right trade off to make, then that's fine: Politics is about differing opinions. If you want to get shot of them just because you don't think it's fair and haven't fully understood the dynamics and resulting effect, then I would say that's being naive. Not saying you're the latter, it's just poor phrasing on my part of the point I'm trying to make. You're one of the few people who can make eloquent political debate without resorting to "Because Maggie!" or "Because Blair!"
