If you want to drive it then sure, buy it and enjoy, and then sell it for whatever you can when you're done. Don't expect miracles upon resale and you won't be disappointed.
Only takes one muppet to bin it into you and your profit has gone...
Pointless.
Makes the car uglier as it IS noticeable (I've worked with both cheap stuff and the good stuff like Armourfend etc, and you can definitely see it), plus it'll still stone chip and then it's impossible to repair. Given the cost of the stuff + fitting, it works out cheaper to just get a front end respray every couple of years if you're that bothered.
You'll need to hold onto it for a long time before that appreciates to any great level. I'm talking 20+ years here, minimum.
It would need to be immaculate and with very low mileage too, along with a complete & perfect FASH. Tbh unless you're getting it for a song I wouldn't bother.
'04 import with no service book? Cheap as chips, I suspect.
Service book means nothing really, if you've got the actual paperwork from the services for the last few years then that's good enough for me.
Exactly how I felt. I never got 911s at all, until I drove one. That was an absolute game-changer for me, in terms of my petrolhead life.
I WILL have another one, someday. Hopefully a gen2 non-S with a manual 'box and no PASM, in Guards Red.
Last I knew they were sitting at £35k, hang on...

There's a gen2 4S on there for £34,990 http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/911-carrera-997/porsche-911-carrera-4s/3853212
Everyone without harnesses should have one of these. I run them on all my vehicles, truck included.
£35 from DT if you use a car club discount in person
