  1. Ironically I see it as the opposite, that EVs would be ideal for inner city public transport. Thanks for finding that article btw, I knew I'd seen it somewhere! I made the comparison with the diesel as it's a different style of power delivery, and I can't see 700bhp from 0rpm as being something I want to live with for my fun car. Especially seeing as it weighs two tonnes...! That's going to hugely affect dynamics, for the worse.
  2. I can't hear anything on that video. It must be easier to hear under the bonnet than in the cabin, surely? Please don't just put oil in unless you're 100% sure of the level, I know it's hard on the Zed but you'll do just as much damage with too much oil as too little. If you want to be 100% sure, drop the oil into a container then refill with the same. Private sale, I take it?
  3. You can't just do that, you have to give them reasonable time to repair the vehicle to a satisfactory condition. You cannot legally just walk in, dump the keys and demand a refund. This is why you must get all communication in writing, and set sensible timescales.
  4. I like the Aygo remember, we used to have one! Brilliant little cars, proper go kart feeling when chucking it round and the engine is surprisingly charismatic.
  5. Good point, do you buy the batteries on the Leaf or are they leased? You'll also have to go main dealer for fitting the replacements and that's not going to be cheap either.
  6. You'll be fine, like Bennett I've tried both and I struggle to tell the difference between the two.
  7. At the moment we (as in the taxpayer) are paying for the purchase, install, running and maintenance of these points. When that subsidy stops, the cost will leap and companies will seek to make active profit with an easy number. Sure, your home costs don't change but then that's not the point I'm trying to make. I read an article the other day (which, typically, I now cannot find) that said the subsidy was limited to X number of cars, and the massive take up increase on these in the last couple of years meant that the cap would be breached the end of this year. If I've got that wrong, my mistake. Certainly other articles I've now been and found back up your view more than mine. Sure, it won't affect the people paying £50K+ for a car, but then they're being bought in tiny numbers comparatively to the small cars like the Leaf, the Zoe and more importantly the i3, which is what will drive demand. I've not driven an EV, you're right. However, give me the choice of a 600bhp diesel or a 200bhp petrol and I'm choosing the petrol every time. It's not about power, it's not about acceleration or speed, it's about how the whole package makes you feel when you drive it. I can see how 700bhp would be fun for a week, but I'd want something to hold my attention a bit longer than that. Plus, I like fiddling with cars, so to have something that I cannot modify at all drivetrain wise is a no-go for me personally. There's a place for the battery stuff, but it's WITH an ICE, not instead of. Let it give me more power or positively affect the drivetrain (like a P1 or LaF) or let it allow me to pootle around in the city on electric bit then open the taps when in the country (like the 918). Even the i8 is a good step forward, but that needed an I6 not an I3 to be appealing to me.
  8. Hold on guys, there's leaking a bit of something and then there's a car that doesn't have any brakes. If there's just a weep from somewhere and there's no more brake fluid escaping then tbh I'd be happy to drive it too. If it continues to leak out on every pedal application then you're right, that's simply not drivable. Hensh, remember it's not just the level you're looking at, it's the amount that changes when someone is sat in the car with the engine running (important) and keeps stabbing at the brakes, and whether any fluid can be seen leaking near that wheel.
  9. You only picked the car up on Saturday FFS! Useless. Tbh if the car isn't driveable then I'd be making it very clear that either they refund you the cost of a flatbed, or you WILL take them to court for the money. The car is not fit for purpose, and you should not be left out of pocket for that.
  10. Start the car and pump the brakes a few times. If fluid level drops in the res, then it's clearly not safe to drive. Poor show from he garage, they should be collecting or at least paying you the money back!
  11. I get input lag on here on the iPad too sometimes. Very random, no idea why, only happens occasionally.
  12. Potentially valve seals.
  13. weeee dooooo That's what I thought. So what happens when they stop being free and you get charged £10 to fill up, or £20? The £5k subsidy likely ends this year, which then makes these things not such the bargain at that point. £55k for a Tesla seems good in theory, but then that would buy you a year-old M3 and a shed load of petrol to run it. I know which would be more involving, too. I mean, I'll be honest and say part of my ranting is jealousy, as I wish I could have an EV for the 10min commute and save a packet, but my circumstances will never permit that. I'd never, ever want an EV as my fun car though, not whilst we still have petrol. I am genuinely glad you're enjoying it though mate, it's refreshing to see someone so enthusiastic and able to back up their reasoning with sound logic
  14. So who pays for the free charging points?
  15. Like bruschetta is actually brusketta. I never knew that
  16. I use the Autosmart ones, it's one of the few products they do that's both well-priced and very decent. But yeah, what used to take half an hour is now done in 10mins. No more marring than you'd get from a bar, either.
  17. They've got quite stiff sidewalls, so you can get away with running lower pressures than normal
  18. They should've given you a sheet with the alignment settings in: Stock settings can vary wildly on the two extremes. 36 psi is too high for MPSS, drop it to 33.
  19. Pressures? Geo settings? Post 'em up, that could make a huge difference.
  20. I nearly went for 3, but the nose looks a little odd in that pic
  21. If I get my way, I won't leave no.5 in that photo untouched
  22. I remember when the 911 broke down, and I pretty much had my choice of cars from Enterprise due to the arrangement they had with Porsche. I chose a petrol Vaux Insignia and a diesel Merc C220, had never driven either before and figured that I might as well give them a go for when I need to buy a boring car as I'd have them for a few days. The Merc was lovely, seats are stunningly comfy. I'd pick that over the equivalent 3-series if driving dynamics weren't an issue.
  23. They should be allowed, I just don't think they should take it. Don't see why not if there is better regulation, after all someone with a more expensive car would be paying more insurance in the first place... maybe some kind of incentive if you downscale possibly? Because every time someone takes an expensive courtesy car, every single person pays for it with their premiums. If folks only ever took the cheapest thing, like an Aygo, then premiums would come down.
  24. What the hell is hyper-foreignism??!!
  25. Looks like a Peugeot.
