  1. I can highly recommend the Golf as a "do everything" car - worked as daily commute for the missus, just been on a 7 day holiday with baby and two dogs, up for trying get a trackday in before Christmas in it now and seeing > 40 mpg too (although not with the roofbox on)
  2. I like to call it "lying", and as Col has nicely detailed up there it seems to be the currency for the Tories at the moment, see also doctoring videos and being in contempt of parliament. On that basis alone I dont think I could vote for them, their lack of respect for the voter is horrififying and I think if we have 4 years of it there will be no respect left for politics or politicians in this country at all.

    Ferrari Roma....

Happened to be in a Ferrari showroom the other day and while they were impressive, 488 aside they arent exactly beautiful. GT4 is a bit heavy and clumsy in its styling, Portofino seems quite colour dependent, Superfast and F12 are a bit long in the bonnet. All brought into sharp focus by the 246 Dino in the showroom and the F355 parked outside, while dynamically they wouldnt get close they look like Ferraris should IMO.
  4. Beautiful work mate, congrats Best advice I can give is dont listen to anyone else, you know what youre doing
  5. I think hes an absolute tool and have no idea how he gets airtime. His knowledge of cars is limited at best (calling a Renault Alpine an Alpina repeatedly was a favourite, checking the oil filler cap for HG signs on an aircooled 911 was another), hes not a coherent or interesting presenter and the mockney thing does my head in, either do it properly or not at all. Wheeler Dealers was all a massive setup that could have been so much better and why an overweight sweaty man chooses to present from California will always be a mystery to me. I do like Edd China though and apparently Mikes brother is a good lad too. As it happens Im not alone in my dislike of Brewer, the SXOC back in the day used to have a bit of a field day with him https://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?317790-Pulling-Power-ITV&highlight=brewer https://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?169668-Mike-Brewer-Total-****&highlight=brewer Theres plenty more if you search for "Brewer" in titles, and yes, I have been wasting time on forums since well before 2005
  6. Youve hit the nail clean through the wood there Col, exactly my predicament. I think old man Steptoe is absolutely off his head with his spending promises but I think Brexit would be the worst thing to happen to this country since WW2. It was almost looking good when our MP Heidi Allen (defected from Tories, staunch remainer) joined the Libdems but shes not running at next election after getting harassed. If I have to vote for Labour to stay in the EU I will but Ill be having a long shower straight after polling.
  7. Its also a one hit decision, one we leave there aint no going back so we have to get it right. We do have choices though: The party of mentalists with the @*!# deal that are currently faking videos and claiming they havent said stuff they very definitely did. The party with Grandad Steptoe as leader, who have dreamland policies based on a magical money tree and a totally arse about face approach to Brexit The minority parties, who generally will do good things and keep us in the EU but have already ruled out coalition so its a wasted vote. Or Farage, who gets an inordinate amount of airtime for someone who is scared to stand for election himself and has no policies other than a Hard Brexit, which parliament have already legislated against. Wake me up when its over.
  8. We are pretty OK on both counts due to these twats:: They move a lot more quickly than any child, are taller, far more inquisitive and also brighter, we now have 5 different types of child locks in the house as they figure them out eventually. On the plus side we were already ready for the noise, for the having to get up every 90 seconds, for having stairgates all round the house, not leaving anything lying around and the responsibility of being a parent so have both been chilled throughout, problem is that she will grow out of it but these two wont
  9. Good luck dude, get her in early and you can be in the pub with the lads by 5 Bella has just turned 6 months and couldnt be further from the potato in a blanket she was, shes getting more interesting and more personality all of the time. Looking forward to starting to speak, being able to move under her own power maybe not so much
  10. I have a Mk7.5 Performance GTI and yeah Difficult to get your head round how it does everything so well, they hold their value very well too.
  11. I looked at going this way but found while the interior was nicer, the 370 didnt really drive much better than my modded 350, certainly not £13K better or whatever it was. I now know 5 people who gone from a 350 to an *35i BMW and about the same that have gone to Caymans or 911's. Hate to say it but they are all a marked step upward/forward IMO, if youve got a bit more cash an M3 or C63 is probably the obvious move. Not heard a Mustang owner with a bad word to say either
  12. Nice info, would add that tyre pressures make a huge difference to the way a drift or track car reacts, worth keeping in mind
  13. CBA to quote anyone but if a car has a fault or develops a fault within 30 days of you buying it from a dealer then you have the right to demand its fixed or return the car at no cost. Ive done it with an Evo thats engine went bang the day after it was purchased and with my Phaeton as well, this is the law and always has been: https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/the-second-hand-car-i-bought-has-a-problem-what-are-my-rights Ive always bought from a dealer if possible as theres no way to test if the clutch is going to need replacing in two weeks, for instance - if it does then the dealer neeeds to resolve it.
  14. 1st thing Id ask you is if you really need a welder, the LSD on my car locked up beautifully and was great for drifting. If yours is tired then pretty much anyone can weld it up, you just need to bury the gears in weld and be done. It does have to come off the car, sometimes its easier to find a S/H diff and get that welded then fit it.
  15. Never justify yourself for being afford a sweet car, just make sure you end up buying one The current top end Panameras are awesome cars, I cant imagine a Taycan being any worse. Go drive one and report back
  16. Have you really committed to spending £150K on a car you havent driven? Brave IMO, I hope its as good as they promise.
  17. Had GT1s on my 135i for 3? years now, it doesnt do huge miles but gets used very, very hard. Not had any issues as yet but havent touched the height/preload since it was set up, very comfy on softest setting and easy to find the sweet spot with a bit of fiddling
  18. Weirdly enough just posted on FB about it. Watched it last night, started out OK but anyone get the feeling not everyone is doing it in one take?Clearly actual driftcar, drift experience and hydro are going to give you a massive advantage but there are some glaring anomalies with people/cars doing much better than they should. Particularly, dare I say it, the female ones.
  19. I know, I mean I only managed 8.11 round the Ring on different tyres front and back when actually I probably should have died. What he is actually saying: cheap tyres will ruin your car.
  20. Oooh, interesting - what was it like? I go to the LM24 every year with a team of lads and theres always suggestions of doing the Ring or Spa 24h too. Ive always been put off by Spa as its in the middle of nowhere, even the town itself is pretty small, do you get a load of popup stuff when the race is on? Is there camping there, is it any good?
  21. Definitely worth a mail to BMW UK, if its enough for her to hit head on steering wheel the bags should be going off - they might want to look at the car a bit more closely to see if there was some issue.
  22. Ummmm .......... OK. I dont know many people who would call Aventadors and Diablos tame, what do you think is as extreme in its styling as a Countach then? Not really, if you look at most of the cars mentioned here theres isnt any modern equivalent - Pulsar GTiR, RX7, 200SX, Mini, Copen, AC Cobra, R5 GTT. When Lamborghini still make an overly large mid engined V12 with scissors doors, mad styling and interior, little to no focus on laptimes for more money than normal people can afford Id argue theres no need to bring back the original.
  23. Had this conversation with someone else this morning. Failing to delivering on promises is different from outright lying, and Obama didnt lie to get what he wanted. Neither did Ghandi, Benezir Bhutto, Gladstone, George Washington, John McCain, Abe Lincoln, Caroline Lucas, Keir Hardy, Tony Benn, John Smith, Douglas Hurd, John Major, Mhairi Black, Ken Clarke, Charles Kennedy or Paddy Ashdown. I personally admire my MP Heidi Allen for leaving the Conservatives when it became apparent they were hell bent on Brexit at all costs, I dont think Theresa May was power hungry either, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Boris is lying, making promises he blatantly cant keep and contradicting statements he made as little as few months ago and its all clearly just to get into power. What hes going to do when hes there is anyones guess but I really, really hope someone holds him to account at some point.
  24. I like to think we still have a reasonably good media in this country and Im looking forward to them pulling him over the coals over everything he says that he fails to deliver on. Sadly it wont move us any further on but it needs to be done, after Trumps comments this morning where he claimed a reported was dealing in fake news and then lied to them twice someone needs to hold politicians to account. A clown like Boris who says whatever comes into his head could be a good start.
  25. An Aventador is a modern Diablo at the end of the day, the Diablo was a modern day Countach.
