  1. I had a go in a Fiesta ST the other day and it was definitely quick enough, dont see the need for a 300hp RS version TBH
  2. Yes, standard 6 speed TT MKIV's will go to the moon IMO, not only are they a genuine legend the USA can import then now - the R34 prices were affected too. S2K's, FD RX7's and Evos will too IMO. If you consider a gearbox is £4K+ on its own now .......... weird thing is I didnt ever think that much of them when I had 200SX's as they were pretty heavy old barges.
  3. But they werent racing. We had a lad on SXOC who actually got banged up for street racing when in actual fact he had just stopped to assist a guy that had crashed after driving like a dick, a taxi driver testified he had seen them going for it when its believed it was another car entirely. Id rather not have my car crushed because some tosser tells the police Ive been racing when I havent.
  4. Track: CL6 or RC05+, Carbotech, Endless, Pagid RSL29 Fast road: Anything but EBC
  5. Get a bigger intercooler and the torque doesnt drop off towards redline anymore
  6. Theres an element of strawman to that TBF ........... everything in life is a competiton, and everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Every sport segregates males and females into seperate competitions, and the results invariably support this approach - people born with XY chromosomes are faster and stronger although I have to say Ive no idea why they are more successful in darts or snooker, anyone? Being born with the XY chromosome and then competing in the classes for XX chromosomes is the same as taking drugs for me, you have an unfair advantage over everyone else in the race that cant be achieved by any amount of training. Extend this through to its obvious conclusion and you finish up with all male sport, why would a female weightlifter even bother when men are allowed to compete on the same terms? At the moment the records for weightlifting are 151 187 333 vs 216 273 473, thats 50% in each case! When something is this obviously quantifiable and gives this much of an advantage to certain competitors then for the sake of sport you have to recognise it, otherwise youre lumping everyone together. While Id love to see 8 years old playing rugby against the All Black senior team or watch a blind football team play Arsenal (could actually be quite close thinking about it ) these are no more reasonable than having men and women compete together in the 100 metres or Boxing.
  7. Just from Nissan the Sunny GTI-R and 200SX would be great to see back in the line up, in fact a lightish RWD 300hp coupe from anyone would be great. Toyota need to bring back the MR2 (someone needs to make a lightweight MR anyway) and someone needs to make something groundbreaking as an MPV rather than everyone having to buy ****ing Ford Galaxys. Some lightweight driver focused hatchbacks like the Peugeot Rallyes or Clio Williams are needed too, why dont we get rally homologations like the scoob and evo these days? Add a genuine affordable supercar for around £50K (the Supra could be very close) and we are back in 1990 again, happy days.
  8. Thats interesting mate, almost sounds like your other half is trying to steer him in that direction rather than he is naturally going that way. My view has always been to bring boys up as boys and girls as girls but not to discourage them from anything thats generally considered to "belong" to the other gender; although we are a lot more accepting and progressive these days its a lot easier to conform, at least until you can defend yourself for the choices you make. Given the choice if theres nothing else in it wouldnt we all rather take the path of least resistance?
  9. Good points well made on here - all Ill say is that while I dont remember any lessons at school about accepting people who are different, my generation are far more accepting of non-whites, homosexuals, the disabled and people with learning difficulties than my Dads or his Dads ever were. Whether this is taught in schools or not (and I think its essential that it is) one would hope that the trend Ive experienced is going to continue regardless.
  10. I dunno, at least they have celebs that are actually interested in cars and I bloody love the challenges they make them do I believe they have to have at least one sleb interview on or it falls into a different category or something anyway. I loved it, cant wait for the next one - Freddy has proven he can do it on A League of Their Own and while I have no idea why Ive been finding Paddy funny since Phoenix Nights, youll be right Easily the best of the car shows ever for me .......... other than Jay Leno, but he only has to nip downstairs and hes got every car in the actual world

    BMW M135i

Great cars, I have a 135i. If you want practical, fast and RWD I dont think anything touches them
  12. So inciting racial hatred, publishing inaccurate propaganda and being able to scream personal abuse at people is OK then? Disagreeing is one thing, deliberately causing offence or encouraging violence is another entirely.
  13. Congrats man, we took delivery of Isabella on 27/04 and its all good so far. Dont believe the people who tell you its amazing and wonderful from day 1, they dont do much to start with but its getting much better now shes smiling and making cute noises. Probably advise you not to describe your daughter as a "potato in a blanket" to her mother either, that dodnt go down do well
  14. Loved it, pleased it dried up a bit before the shootout too although it would have been pretty entertaining in the pissing rain
  15. I think its more a case of do you particularly want a 370Z - if so, great but there are a lot of better dailies, garage queens, appreciating assets, track specials and everything else available for 20K. FWIW I just did a howmanyleft and there are about 2000 370's and just under 4000 240's, neither are exactly common.
  16. Yeah, sorry to say it but apart from the noises and maybe the brakes the Bimmer wins in every way, although TBF youre comparing a 2008 car with a 2014 car The 370 will probably hold its money better but Im not sure Id bet on that. The B58 is indeed a legendary engine already (they generally dyno at least 360hp) and a 240 is nearly as quick as an M2 in a straight line but theres little comparison between the chassis of the two, the M2 is miles better.
  17. But by the sound of it if they rescind the mortgage offer and everything falls through he will be bankrupt. How are the mortgage company going to prove when she was given her marching orders? If she has a notice period of a month does she have to make them aware immediately? On the basis of my first sentence Id be keeping Mum, Id never get over losing everything because I was honest about a situation that wouldnt have affected my ability to pay the mortgage.
  18. This is my thinking really, if you wanted something that was bound to appreciate buy an Integrale/EsCos and never drive it. 981s are awesome cars, if you can have one for a few years and only lose ~5K then its got to be worth a stab
  19. I can see the argument - the GT4's never depreciated at all, they are still selling for about list price. An S while waiting to see what the GT4s do might be the answer, cheers Dan
  20. Im torn between £30K on an earlyish 981S, £50K on a late 981 GTS or £70K on a 981 GT4, which do you reckon would be the best investment?
  21. Just superb, cant remember enjoying any previous TGT or TG series as much as this but then Ive always been a fan of all three of the lads. There is clearly unscripted banter between them, and they are only two episodes in - go watch one of the early Clarkson/Hammond/May shows, they are really cringeworthy. Cant imagine how good this might get, its a hell of a start though
  22. Have you driven one? The 981 Cayman S is possibly the best road car Ive driven and not everyone gets on with the rear engine thing (me included) I also think the 6 cylinders will be near appreciation proof ......... and its halfway between an Evora and a 911.
  23. I was watching an episode of The Bill a while back, think it was Series 1 or Series 2. A kid got taken from school so CID go to investigate, Mike Dashwood is speaking to the Headteacher in her office with the kids best friend in there too ........ and they are both smoking ciggies! In a school with a 6 year old present! Some of the casual racism and sexism is amazing too, we have actually come a long way believe it or not.
  24. GTI does 40mpg, costs bugger all to service and has a world of pattern parts available, not to mention specialists support. And, dare I say it, in real life its faster than a 370 as well. I have a 245 GTI and its pretty awesome TBH, Ive heard the i30n is pretty cool too - see also 308 GTi. They dont give the feedback or occasion that a 370 does but as a daily I can see the argument, the Golfs dont seem to depreciate either. M135is and M240s are worth a look as they have more driving pleasure than the FWD cars and much more road presence. BTW 370Z is 1850mm, Civic Type R 1877, Q60 1852 and Focus RS 1823.
