I had 2 Zeds covering over 5 years of ownership, and briefly owned a RX8 as a track toy (only did 1 day in it before moving it on). I much preferred the power delivery of the 350z. as Ekona said, there is far more torque which makes it much easier to live with. I didnt enjoy having to drive the arse of the rex to get anything out of it. The 350z is much more of a GT cruiser.

Could possibly be the battery on its way out, as you said it was stood for a week. I know you said voltage looks normal but maybe pop a battery charger on and see how much charge you've got. When my battery was in its final throws, the headlights were coming on with the lights switched off, and i couldnt get them to switch off at all until i disconnected the battery! I dont know what causes that, i'm guessing some sort of odd voltage issue makes it spaz out.

370z Nismo Residuals Now That No Replacement Coming
marzman replied to hmale4yu's topic in 370z General
I dont believe the status of the 370 replacement will have an impact on used Nismo residuals. I think you can safely forecast your cars value based on the price of 2016 or 17 cars now - i.e. its still going to be worth circa £20k via private sale by the time you come to change your car early next year when your term ends (iirc!) -
Looking good, welcome.

There were boat loads of imported 350z's though so there definitely has been precedent for it... but i dont know if its still the done thing. Looking at the exchange rates, back in 2002 it was 180Y to £1, now its about 140Y to £1, so 22% worse now which would be a factor i guess.

I meant year not month... but you're relying on you writing a car off to break even - statistically it's unlikely, so you're backing the wrong horse. Google says 'one in every 83 drivers will have written off their car every year'. I wouldn't place a £250 bet at 83/1...
-
Ive only skim read this thread, but I wouldn't dream of paying an extra £250 on the off chance you might write the car off. There's no 'break even point' as you might never write another car off at which point you've thrown away £250 a month for the next 40 years of your life (£120k!) If you wrote the car off and were a few K out of pocket, just slum it in a cheap car for a few months until you've saved up enough to cover the difference... thats better than overpaying for insurance upfront for something that odds say will never actually happen. (statistically if you've written one off, does it make you more or less likely to write off another... i'm not sure )

How come you sold your Zed? I thought you were in for the long haul on that project?

These pictures are great.

1000% agree. Ive been driving an 05' E90 320d with 170k on the clock for the last 3 months (my wife's car). Its quick and fun to drive - more fun than my 5.0 Mustang tbh. Hydraulic steering is lovely. I enjoy driving it so much i've booked a track day at Donnington next week and i'm taking that and not my 'stang!

Wow, might as well be free at that price! I'd be there every week i think!
-
free as in, you dont pay for it?

Awesome videos, that looks like a great little circuit!!

Is this going to be released in the UK do we know yet? I've just read a brief article on Adrian Flux suggesting it will be, and will be priced around £23k which I cant believe. I'd have thought closer to £40k would be more realistic... But if they're that cheap then i'm having one! Will look good next to my Mustang on the drive way. https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/blog/2020/01/10-new-cars-to-get-excited-about-in-2020.html#:~:text=2020 Ford Bronco&text=The 2020 Bronco%2C however%2C is,bulkier version from the 1970s.

Sounds like it could be my old one... UK52? -
I could read this all day... I've had my angle grinder out this week and chopped down a store-bought work bench to be narrower so it fits in a small space i had so i can close the door. Took me about 4 hours.

Thats cool, these look great. I was in Japan in 2018 and bought a few paper craft kits - they're everywhere in Japan! They're extremely intricate/detailed and the materials used are high quality (its card rather than paper).

No reliability issues at all on mine, touch wood, after 14k miles. There are a few reports of build quality issues on the forums, but mine has been perfect. There is one major fault that im aware of that can occur to do with oil cooler failure, at which point the engine is ruined and Ford replace under warranty, but this appears to be on the earlier 15-17 models i think.

Mine's a 5.0 grabber blue auto, which'll be on the market the month your deal runs out...

Your rocket looks lovely, I really like them. I'm just missing the noise of mine now... i keep looking at it longingly out of the window.

Films you should have seen by now - bit of fun
marzman replied to coldel's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I know... i even hate myself for saying it, but i just dont get them. I think it's im just into the more modern movies... Goodfellas/Casino, and then Sopranos (which i've watched through at least 5 times!). Every scene of The Godfather has been parodied and re-done 10 times better in other media that the whole films have become cliche. -
I've got a 2018 Mustang which i was planning to sell when my deal ends in March 21, if not before. I'll only owe £18k on it but hoping the bottom doesnt fall out of the market too much before then, as i should have been expecting in the region of £28k with < 20k miles and some good mods, but who knows, now.

Den of Thieves is probably my favourite film of the last 3-4 years.
