Lots of people have talked about laquering this stuff, but no one has actually done it. so i thought i would do a trial and at least there is a definitive answer. i could do a clear vinyl overlay might do a trial first and see what it looks like, i think the dinoc relies on how it reflects light off its surfaces for texture. when you fill it with laquer it kills the light. so would be interesting to see if a clear overlay would work.

had about 2 people. its cheap enough to get direct from ebay save waiting for a GB. if you want the stuff stew was on about that is apparently very good at avoiding stuck doors in winter.

glad you mention that, i had the same idea but i decided to do a tester first; i wrapped a random item on my desk, not the best work, but it wasn't the work i was interested in but what would happen if i laquered it here is the usb stand pre laquer and here are several shots afterwards. as you can see most of the detail is lost once you add the laquer, it also doesn't harden the vinyl either and has a habit of lifting edges, part of that is a poor fit on my behalf, but the laquer doesn't seem to help.

I have recently purchased some new wheels for my car, they are 2nd had and they do need a refurbish to remove the curb rash it has. but for now as its winter swiftly approaching i'm going to leave that till spring. for me though the tatty wheel centres were bothering me. the curb rash i can hide easy enough for now but the fact that water had got under the laquer on the whel centres made them look like this So i decided to give them a refresh for now. i had a few odds and sods lying around so set about this little project. firstly i sanded them back with 240 grit wet and dry paper to remove the rough laquer and to give a flat surface to work on. it made them look flat and dull and had removed a little of the text. some of the laquer was still on them, but this wasn't an issue as i wasn't painting them. i still had a roll of DI-NOC 3M carbon vinyl lying around in the garage so thought i would put it to good use. these were my tools the first job was to set it into squares about half as large again as the actual centres. i heat boht the centre cap and the vinyl up before i apply it first the next job is to use the heat to keep it soft and then work it around the item. i tend to do the top first, and then stretch and tug the rest down as i go around the edge. i then trim up the vinyl and remove the excess waste i then go back round with the heat and several tools and my finger nail, and work the vinyl in between the 2 halves i.e the ally section and the plastic. then just very carefully i run a blade round and trim off the waste. which leaves me something that looks like this after about 30 minutes i ended up with these next job was to run up some new logos for the front, this took alot longer as i had to draw it from scratch, but once done the vinyl cutter made short work of it and i had cut several colour options. i did red, silver, and white. in the end i decided silver was the best option quick application later and the finished articles i'm unsure how long they'll last and it is a temporary measure. if it doesn't work out it will peel off and i can always paint them instead and re logo them.

i've had a few, and reported them straight away

Here are pics of the ones fitted to mine, i really liked them but they are marmite. hope this help. they will either persuade or disuade you.

without actually looking the car over i wouldn't be suprised if thats a right off. especially if the chassis is bent.

they aren't very wide, and they aren't staggered, so you would have to stagger the tyres instead, which is never really ideal. personally if i was upgradin gthe zed wheels i would be looking for a 9" front wheel and a 10" rear wheel most likely in 19" rim size. if your looking for cost effective then rare rims are your answer, lots of decent wheels to fit at not rediculous prices. but your still going to be looking at around 1000 quid mark for wheel and tyres. you could go and get cheaper stuff, but you'll be looking at heavier wheels. making the car slower at the same time

with good winter tyres it will be fine, i didn't use winter tyres and din't find it that difficult. had one interesting drive home but tcs kept it all straight. i'll be running my s2k through the winter, and that has no TCS did fine in the MR2 roadster in snow and that ws the same. alot is just technique and practice. any kind of revs and your not going any where. learn to rock the car with the clutch and clutch control. high gears no revs and gently gently gently is the key. use the gears to slow down and dont touch the brakes. as for the comment about other drivers i cannot agree more. when driving in terrible snow with low tread bridgestones my rear was all over the place, yet i still had idiots tail gateing me.if i stopped they weren't going to have enough space. i also watched people braking to get onto a round about and then just sliding onto it instead. so many people have no idea how to drive in the zed and end up polishing the road instead making everyone elses job a nightmare. if push comes to shove, on work days if it is really bad, i'll get a lift with a colleague and dueing the weekend we do have my wifews beast of a car so its not the end of the world for me. if you do get the chance to go out in the snow, go find a nice big empty carpark and go have some fun

i got mine as low as 9 mpg on a track day including the drive there and back

i have an origianl HKS on my car and they do make good sounding exhausts, on the S2000 its one of the best sounding exhausts going.

The final nail in my nissan misery coffin...
rtbiscuit replied to chrisjones6699's topic in Warranty Issues
don't let them turn them, its a temporary fix probably enough to get you out of the warranty period and then its your problem, not theirs. tell them if they are doing the warranty work you expect replacement parts. there is a bulletin on it and nissan should know that it needs replacment parts to fix the problem permanently. i hate nissan too; to a point where i refuse to ever buy antother car of theirs; i refuse to line the pockets of a bunch of inbred retards; who couldn't find their own c0cks in a pi$$ing competition. their sales services is shocking to say the least and the majority of their machanics couldn't tell the difference between an alloy wheel and a steering wheel. i also dealt with nissan uk; who are so far up their won ar$e i'm suprised their still in business. biggest bunch of loop whole finding, excuse making lying thieving twunts. i've dealt with toyota and honda both have always been great, regardless of which branch i go and see. when visiting BMW i've been made to feel almost like royalty, as if nothing is too much. even peugeot have always been pretty good. chris i don't envy you; what i would say is try Falcon perofrmance i know they have done warranty work and have an outstanding service record. its a bit of a hike, but you know you'll get treated like a proper customer, and it couldn't be in better hands. -
i get mine done every 2 years and i always wear my glasses for driving, have prescription sunglasses as well. i'm a good boy

poo! stock brakes should be fine, you may need to change your brake fluid at some point soon after as you'll most likely boil it. pads and discs should last, might need some new ones sooner. but you won't be punishing them that badly. if you were greekman i could understand

hopefully Rik will be delivering my front end any day now lol i forgot about that,

accusations in the teaching proffession and anything linked to it can be a career killer. its my worst nightmare. thats why i make sure i bury all the bodies at least 10 feet down on the school playing field joking aside, i'm very careful all the time how i speak and what i say, and that i make sure i don't put myself in a dodgy situation.

Looks very nice but its desperatly calling out for a something at the front

nice choice, i do love the cayman
-
good write up, what did you replace the Zed with then?
-
if it looked like that and had 4WD i'd probably give it a try, i prefer the interior in that to a scooby or evo. but they won't do 4wd, so i will never go and look
