  3. i'd have the ings front over all of them. saying that i haven't seen it for a long time and cant' remember what it looks like exactly. but i remember last time i saw it thinking, .... nice bumper. i have a feeling if i hadn't gone v1 i would have gone ings.
  4. GLWTS Ian, its one of my favourite Zeds on the forum, all the work has been done to a high standard and all very choice parts. someone is going to get a lovely car.
  5. yeah sorry, we don't tend to get electrical faults with our cars, so not the best people in an electrical crisis
  6. sorry don't like it, not the worst bumper in the world, but can think of many better out there
  7. Rich Where are the pics mate?? Being a techie chap, you must have the alignment specs for the Z?? Searched all night on forum , no luck Ace sig btw! Bradders i don't have the alignment specs, but most cars vary; they will all be close to the same settings but each car is individual. so if your going for a full Geo setup, then go somewhere that knows their cars and knows their stuff. if you just want a general alignment check any where will do as they'll have the cars details on the system
  8. ah but husky was in charge of umm... well.... eeer... electrical maintainence i was just fitting the knob
  9. yeah husky fitted that bit, not me, possibly worked loose if not fully engaged. might have been my fault; i forget now
  10. tyre design is not my area of expertese. they know what they are doing, i go on the reviews and professional feedbacvk on tyres to base my decisions on. admittedly on my new car and the new wheels i haven't put the sessantas on i fancied a change and have given the falken 452's a go, and so far i'm quiet impressed.
  11. ok that would explain why i felt that movement, maybe the directional movement is a happy medium. if the tyres ran in the same direction owuld they then try and pull in opposite directions and there fore make the handling odd. at least if they track diagonally the steering input would be the same regardless
  12. never really questioned it, i knew the sidewalls were right, but it did bug me that the pattern run the same way on both sides. my therotical guess and also partly based form having them on in the snow is that if they ran the same direction on both sides you might end up with a kind of archemidies screw effect and the car might slightly crab sideways across the road. the reason i suggest this is that in the snow i found when pulling away the car felt like it was moving slightly diagonally across as you pull away. the tyres bite nicely into the snow but with the deep tread it felt like it pulled the car diagonally like an archamedies screw. this maybe why they alternate the pattern to reduce this sensation in normal driving conditions. this is theory though, not based on fact.
  13. new tyres and wheels went on last weekend, this weekend i'm off to DMS racing to have a full laser alignment check and a fast road setup done to the car. not cheap at about 75.00 but it will address toe, camber and castor settings. this should make the car handle at its most optimum and also improve tyre wear and maximise grip available form the car/tyres.
  14. some would say the best time to change tyres is at about 3mm from their down to about 1.6 they arent as effective (some brands) as when they are new. from 1.6 mm down they can be way off the mark in the wet (most brands) i would say with cheaper brand tyres replacinng at 3mm is not a bad idea. with more expensive tyres you could easily get away with taking them down to the wear markers.
  15. scotland seems to be the spiritual home of the Zed, more neds buy them up there than any one else lot of money up round the highlands, several are rig workers etc, makes sense that where the money is you'll find the cars. Its good to see such a good community up that way, in some ways its a shame i don't live closer or i would have got more involved with them.
  16. all fair points i retract my last statement
  17. bloody hell you lot, its not even winter yet, what are you all playing at??? you shouldn't garage a car until the first frost. same as soft tops, you don't put the hardtop on until first frost. there will be loads of days in october when you could be zedding. i drove to cov with the roof down on sunday and back again. even had it down while it was raining. just kept at 70 and didn't even get a little bit wet. i can maybe understand if its freezing, but this is a zed not a ferrari no different to half the RWD BMW that are out all year round or the merc's etc etc. all i can say is ... bunch of garage queens
  18. no worries husky, glad to help and good luck with the venture. my bill for consultance fee's is in the post
  19. you pays your monies, you takes your risks. to go on track thinking nothing could go wrong is very nieave. i track my cars but i must admit i don't like to push to the limits; it is my daily driver and i'm by no means the best driver in the world. so i'd rather play it safe and have fun, than be riding the limits and **** up. fo rthat reason i feel comfortable with just a crash helmet. the standard protection in most cars is adequate for my needs. i'm lucky to see 1 trackday a year. its just getting so expensive. if your a more serious track warrior then either a dedicated track car, or fitting a cage would seem like a good idea. i'd love to have a track only car, it would take the worry out of the back of my head thats always there, but then that same thing is what helps keep me sensible on the track.
  20. he turned his zed into a KA good to see the roll cage doing its job,
  21. looks very lambo/fezza stylee, but i like it alot. whats it designed to compete with? i sthis audi r8 territory or gayardo 360 territory or bigger cars or lesser cars???
  22. Personally i'd save my money, winter is coming and the wet paint is going to take a beating and possibly look a bit rough in the spring. save up over winter and have them done properly by a powder coater in the spring. then they will last alot longer. i've go tnew wheel and they need a refurb, but i'm not going to bother until next year as the crap weather will ruin the new paint
