  1. I don't see anything on the inner black strip of the lights, were the DRL's halo lights? Were they circular/ring like you get on the older BMWs?
  2. Wonder if the doorsill sticker would have the Nismo badging on it? Easiest way to marry up the VIN with the Nismo trim but get the dealer to validate it with Nissan for you. With the Nismo tachometer and trim, I doubt its a "fake". I'm sure the DRL's are technically a MOT failure. If a car has had DRL's, it's meant to keep them permanently, removing them is a MOT failure. Not sure when DRL's became a legal requirement on newly registered cars?
  3. It's a wax based coating, everyone has it and whilst it looks terrible, it's functional. So don't remove it unless you plan on replacing it with something a little more transparent.
  4. Question is, does it feel as good as the other Z you drove? Feel like you've been on an eternal mission to get a more direct feel in your Z but to no avail. Has this finally solved the issue?
  5. @ZMANALEX is your best bet. Curious though if any Nissan/Infiniti key will work? It's the same fob across the range and years. I'd also bug everyone at the dealership, it's an item that could easily be discounted if you find the right person.
  6. You have to prove any import is in line with the manufacturers guidance - emissions is one of those things, with the different fuels and maps used outside the UK/EU, they wanna make sure you ain't jamming the rules. Won't ever get a discount, emissions are emissions, VED is VED.
  7. Tried and trusted I assume?! This would be a cheaper alternative and one I already have in the garage lol
  8. Question is, what is everyone using to protect their exhaust tips? As much as I love cleaning them, I'm not interested in cleaning them often.
  9. Check the spark plugs and coil packs. Known issue with the Z. See if there is any oil or burning. How much engine oil are you getting through atm? Maybe a compression test is in order too?
  10. Really mugged me off. Tried buying a loaf of bread with my 0.00005 bitcoin today but when it tanked by 25%, I had to cough up some more. Now it's turned out to be an expensive loaf of bread. Dammit.
  11. Can't lie, I feel like such a mug trying to tell you what to do 😅 your taste is epic, hell I know it's better than mine. Can't wait to see it in the flesh! Amazing car.
  12. Need to black out them taillights - maybe a rose tint? Maybe a smoke tint? As usual what a gorgeous car and amazing photos!
  13. Rust seems about right for a 12 year old car that's spend a lot of time outside. Part and parcel of it all, you'll want to check the rear arches, lots of crap gets in there and I think that'll be the first place it'll start to rust in a few years. Good luck with your hunt!
  14. A friend of mine has made silly money from it, won't lie it's got me kicking myself though the silver lining is, he's got the headaches of the accountant/taxman to deal with and that's a headache I'll always want to avoid - make it sound like I wanna be poor and stay poor lol. As I guess it's been for most of the winners, he recouped some money from his day trade losses and he's had to reinvest so he can cover the tax that he forgot to account for. I do think it's a little late to the party though tbh, like how much more can it rise? Just a game of hot potato.
  15. Probably better off pestering in the GTR forums - Z owners hardly do this but GTR owners do. Mad to think Nissan's flagship car also uses a bonnet stay but yeah, or ping Torqen a message, they sell the kit so I'm sure they will know who's done it etc.
  16. Unless you're the first one to report the hidden copper 😉
  17. Morning buddy, You've done the right thing checking the website for prices - https://h-dev.co.uk/our-services/servicing-and-maintenance/ Jez and his team aren't as active on here, but they do have a landline and mobile/WhatsApp that they are active on. Really recommend their work, but you'll have to get in touch directly with em.
  18. Upto you, I mean if you've got the space and patience then hell yeah, DIY it at home. But I'm sure it'll be fine if you didn't, rust won't be the fatal issue if you're 13 years ahead of the curve.
  19. This was the underside of a 13 year old import from Japan, I was in shock when it was up on the ramp.
  20. All the cars I've had imported, especially from Singapore or Japan have been immaculate underneath. Just sold a Nissan Skyline 350GT that I had imported and it was beautiful. I'll see what photos I can upload later. Not sure if its the weather (or lack of) or how stringent their version of an MOT is, but imports are much better looked after than most used UK cars. I will however say, that for the money you save on an import, be prepared to have to fish around for parts, have silly features (though others are epic) and for insurance to be a little trickier. Have a look at the for sale section on this forum and see if anything is local and within budget?
  21. Basic question so forgive me, but did you connect positive to positive? Only time I've seen sparks when jumping a car is when someone has connected positive to negative.
  22. They just tape on top of the OEM pillar. The clips are so flimsy, you won't be the first to break them. Pretty sure YouTube has videos on clever fixes for them, could also ask ZMANALEX if he has any replacement pillars?
  23. Mehh it's cropped up in conversation a few times, how easy it is to clone a key and getting a Ghost immobiliser to kill power until your code is put in. Unfortunately it seems like the Ghost system is expensive and doesn't reduce insurance premiums. Going Thatcham 5/6/7 gives you a tracker, which is cheaper initially but requires a subscription. This however does help with premiums. Only reason I'm curious is, my car is more expensive than my Z, its also been harder to insure (due to theft in my postcode) and its cropped up in too many conversations to not just ignore.
  24. Random question, has anyone here fitted an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser system? It used to (and as far as I know still is) a market where Thatcham rules. However more and more people are going down the Ghost route which is part of TASSA (yeah I have never heard of em either). I'm interested in getting something fitted for peace of mind but trying to weigh up costs, security and just general ease of use. Google spews the usual biased crap and I'm after 1st hand experience or what turned people off going down the Thatcham/TASSA route.
