Anyone got any recommendations for a bodyshop along the M4? Berkshire works best, though I guess West London, South Bucks, Surrey also work out OK for the right place. Only after a quick respray on a bootlid but either getting silly quotes (£500+) or places with terrible Google reviews (which are a pain cause people only review when they're not happy)

Windows need resetting, I had this issue when the battery went flat and needed a jump start. Can't remember off the top of my head but basically need to hold the window up switch for 5 seconds after the window is at its highest point.

Can't remember who it was but someone said it's actually better to "remote buy" as the law makes it easier for you to hand it back if you find a problem with it, in the first 30 days. I remote bought my last motor and was a lot easier getting the dealer to fix things. Usually get told "if I fix it, then I'll just up the price and sell it to someone else" But, no never driven a Supra do can't help. Look forward to the pics of your next motor lad!

After spending time and money modding a few other cars, I'm missing my Z. The cost of the car and the aftermarket parts is small change compared to doing the same on German cars. This mod is a prime example. GLWTS and I'll be keeping an eye on your build thread for any more updates.

How these have not sold is beyond me. Even importing them from US isn't this cheap. This and a new gearbox mount and you'll get more hurses getting to the rear wheels.

Interesting height - think you were parked next to a 4x4/crossover type vehicle? Looks like a door corner has nabbed you. Hopefully it's repaired quickly, cheaply and easily.

Was watching this earlier - seems like the competition is heating up. Also got watching the all season tyre comparison from last year.

I'll admit, in recent years, I've had zero luck with the specialist insurers. Does get frustrating after a while because there's only so many times you want to put your details into a quote engine. They also did the disservice of hiking up prices (though assume that's no longer allowed) at renewal time when they once beat Compare and Co.

Yeah for that sort of price, it's a no brainer. Everyone's context is different, some daily driver, others have garage queen's, some exclusively track etc. Like I'd hate to be the guy who is evangelical about a tyre brand, only to see someone running bald tyres or running tyres 8 years old etc just so they can say they have Michelins. Just think we Z owners are overkill - if some of these tyres were so bad, they wouldn't sell em, Heck they wouldn't fit them on brand new 400bhp+ cars as standard. Zs are cool but they really aren't that powerful of a car. Still think the biggest failing on the Z is the diff bushings - that's worth sorting out. One time fix and a lifetime of satisfaction.

Mehhh, I understand what you're saying but I wouldn't class them as budget. They are just not a premium make from a premium brand. As much as I'd love to say spend £1k on tyres and fitting (add the worry that you need to replace a sensor, or that a tyre gets punctured a week after you've fitted it), you also need to spend a little on the diff fluid and replacing the diff bushings. Staggered setups are also a killer because you buy 4 tyres but need to budget for 6 (I keep mentioning it because it happened to me, replacing a new tyre crushes a part of your soul). I've done silly speeds, in the dry and wet on the Hankook and never felt in danger. The bigger issue on the Z is the crap bushings and the old fluid. Once I did that, the difference in the car was night and day, no more hopping and skipping from the rear end and the traction control kicked in with more assurance (no on/off/on/off/on/off within 3 seconds). Again, if you're driving your Z in the summer or don't really push it to the limit then the money on the Michelin is overkill. If you had the money for the tyres, then you're probably looking at high end German cars not budget Japanese sports/GT cars. Only other caveat is if you turbo/super charge, then the kick in of power at 4k rpm needs the respect of premium tyres. I've moved onto an M3 with considerable more power and a immense DCT. I've done all the fluids and when the time comes I will likely go Michelin but that's because I'm rocking 100bhp more than my Z and a gearbox that will kick down mid corner. If you can afford it, then definitely do it, if you can't and like me you have bills to pay, don't be afraid to buy Hankook (or the other mid range brands).

Value for money, the Ventus Evo2 were good, think they now make the Evo3 which I'd hope is a step up in terms of technology. I'm running Pirellis on my M3 (not a great comparison) but they are pants. The M3 is supposedly well suited to MPSS or MPS4S - when the time comes for a tyre change, I'll see if I can afford them else I'll be back to Hankook.

This is a useful nugget that I did not know. Should we expect any other decent windfalls from the rule change? I've saved 20% on my insurance which was already pretty low. A few friends have also seen similar drops and we are different ages/professions/locations.

I know shopping around helps and looking early (20+ days before renewal) is also a good way to save but has everyone else seen a decent drop in insurance prices for the last few years? I've got an M3 and it's now cheaper to insure than any car I have ever had 😏 actually feels economical to run when all the bills are considered lol

Do it right or do it twice. I've had a trusted garage touch my old Z and get it wrong. I ended up taking my car to Horsham Dev in Berkshire and paid again for the same work to be carried out. Don't mean to be an ass but if you're asking for advice and people are replying, it'd be rude not to take it. Nobody gets a payout for these referrals and if you enjoy your Z, you're better off leaving in the hands of people who know what they are doing. I own something German now and I travel 40 miles for a specialist. They are also kind enough to either promise to get the work done before I leave or offer me a courtesy car for the week. It's not uncommon.

Gonna have to ask whoever mapped it to tell you. Valet mode will only let you rev upto 3k and I'm sure a 95 Ron map will only let you rev upto 5k. That's the best info I can offer you.

Are the wheel studs the same size front and rear? The only drawback for RWD cars is the logistics of a staggered setup.

If you've got the time, money and patience, try the GT86 (or heck even something really different) but you know what you get from the Z and if you're a fan, you're likely to always be a fan. It is so cheap and simple to run, I've not owned another (half decent/powerful) car which has been as hands off as the Z.

Are they the original sensors? Ever been replaced before? Any concerns about wiring? Tyres been recently fitted/refitted? Original alloys? Have they been knocked or incorrectly reseated? Any issues with moisture? Is the cold throwing the sensor/pressure off?

TPMS error code? If there's a check engine light, it's an MOT failure and would be "an unsafe and non road worthy car" which is covered by the consumer rights act. You bought a car and you expect it to work, if there was a problem, it should have been discussed before the sale and if it appears within 30 days of the sale, then the problem was likely there before the sale. If you bought private, then I'll let everyone else chip in with probable problems and fixes.

Give yourself plenty of time next year. I've always found quotes to be cheaper 20-30 days out from the policy renewal. You can always get insurers to compete with one another too - grab a screenshot or copy of the best quotes, it will help you no end when trying to drive down prices.
