  1. Merry Christmas boys and girl's! Small update, the lovely other half treated me to a set of GTR crystal clear map lights for the Nismo. As you'll see from the photo there's a marked difference between the two. Here side by side for comparison. On the right, the GTR map light, and on the left the opaque white standard 370z map light. Again super shocked at what a small addition can make such a big change to the interior of the car. Light output is now super crisp and bright. Much like the GTR stop / start button. Other then that I've barely driven the car, with one show back in August And there I took a good friend's lad to his first prom. really hoping I'll get out more this year, and more mods!
  2. What's the difference between them?
  3. Am I being daft or are those headlights morimoto? I'm struggling to see any difference even down to the wiring needing to be extended for RHD vehicles?
  4. Sent this to the Mrs last night as she's a huge F1 and Hamilton fan. I @*!# you not I thought my life was over, pretty sure she broke the sound barrier chasing me 🤣
  5. I'm not overly keen on a smocked design just simply down to personal preference. I like the blacked out front headlights the Nismo comes standard with so that's not an issue. But for me I like nice clear OEM colours. Until someone produces an aftermarket light that isnt smoked I won't be changing dude
  6. Drop me a WhatsApp when you pick the new one up mate, would definitely be up for a meet up weather allowing in the spring! Glad to hear you're getting back in a Z again. Funny you should mention the morimoto rear lights, I've actually been chatting to them and have said if they make a newer OEM+ style then I'll have a set. I'm just not keen on the current clear funky style You're right, that's a big question. Remember that the 350z was a GT, and this is a Nismo. They are similar in places, and as willsy says night and day different in others. They're both pretty raw, especially around town. I actually prefer driving the girlfriends Audi A3 around town and it gives me an excuse not to indicate 🤣 But get the Nismo on a twisty B Road, a motorway and that's where you really see the difference come out. Cruising, it's probably the most comfy car I've owned. It's power, presence and road holding make you smile ear to ear. I've lost count the amount of photos taken as people pass because you just don't see Nismo's. Oddly, as nice as the recaros are, I miss electric heated seats. I've never owned a car where the slightest change to my seating position screws me over a treat, taking weeks to find that sweet spot again. Any time it goes somewhere, I tell them explicitly do not move the seat. Interior is definitely a step up, however it baffles me how such a new car does not come with better infotainment, like DAB radio. Again, another point for the Mrs A3. Power delivery is silky smooth in the nismo. You can town drive without it getting rowdy, and know when you want the power you need to hold on. It's connection through the steering feels light and agile, yet enough feedback to know its not all computer assisted. The gearbox is like cocking a rifle, with every change gliding in. The rev match feature is a cool touch, making those down shifts sound all the more cooler. I could ramble all day, so I'll summarise here. Do I think its better then a 350z as its also a properly "Jap" car? Yes. Do I think there are newer, better cars available for the same price, 25K? Also yes. But its charm for me is that its a "New Car, based on an old car". You have enough quality, toys, features and driving style to know you have a new car, but it feels old enough that you can be connected with what it's doing, without warning sensors beeping for beeping sake. I miss my 350z for sure. But would I want to go back? No chance
  7. Can confirm the DVLA are idiots, this is my 2016 370z Nismo and yet they think it's a 350z 🤔
  8. An easier, cheaper and more grounded test would be to swap the bulbs round and see if the fault moves from one side to the other. If it does, you know its the bulb failing. If it doesn't, you know the issue is somewhere on that headlight
  9. Brilliant, exactly what I wanted at the wrong time, Doh!
  10. Thats the issue, how long will this wash take! What I was getting at is in simple terms is that the OP is now royally stuck in the middle, between his insurance company and the garages liability. The insurance company will say the garage is responsible as the car was handed over to their care, the garage will say its the insurance companies responsibility as they chose to send it to them, a whole street away from where it was recovered. Using my own garage where I work as an example, there's been a serious breakdown somewhere, and that's what is fishy. Personally I feel the garage are entirely to blame. We have coded key cupboards, retinal scanners, 18 foot high fenced compounds, CCTV covering every square inch to name a few security measures. But then we're a multimillion pound Dealership Vs Big Ken's auto repair shop on the corner. I feel for the OP, we're about to find out how good his insurance company is.
  11. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but i feel this is about to get extremely messy for you. Technically speaking from my understanding, the garage the vehicle was recovered to are now also liable for the car. As it was stolen from their premises and I'd assume private property, there will be serious questions asked by the insurance company. All sounds extremely fishy
  12. First show done in the Nismo in over a year of ownership taken at the GermanVsJapanese meet last weekend by bluepigphoto And then of the engine bay clean up I had in a little detailing session
  13. I love this 300 so much!! Seriously good work saving her and getting her back on the road. Youve got a real gem there which I'd swap my nismo for in a heartbeat!
  14. Not much of an update but for the first time in my car ownership I treated myself to a private plate. Got the old ones off as they were seriously stuck on, and cleaned up all the rear bumper and plinth. Photo below On Monday this week I dropped the car off at my local Nissan who did me a cracking deal as it was service and MOT time. They gave me a Nissan leaf as a loan car, eww. Full Nissan P3 service, supplied my own oil Oil & filter Air filters Cabin filter Brake fluid Clutch fluid Coolant Gear oil Differential oil Spark plugs Aircon re-gas New wipers Passed everything with flying colours, I've known the master tech there for years and was very happy to hear him say its immaculate underneath and probably the cleanest one he's ever seen. Felt weird as got ganged up on by all the salesmen who offered me a pretty penny to let her go, I was nearly tempted.
  15. Let me know a time and place with decent weather and I'm there, a MK1 & MK2 would look ace together for photo's especially as I've still not gotten any decent ones of mine. How you finding the nismo life? Something about them feels very, very special doesn't it driving them down the road?
  16. Welcome to the Nismo Gang matey. I did the same as you however went with the MK2. Looking forward to seeing it as I know you're localish! She looks smart
  17. A spirited drive isn't whats required as they will cool down in-between, you need to literally hold it at x amount of revs for several minutes so they are HOT and then test the emissions straight away. High flow cats are never a guaranteed way of passing emissions though. You're other option is find a friendly tester or leave a box of beers in the car? Mine used to always look the other way providing everything else was safe
  18. You don't need to remove them to test them, removing the air intake will cause its own set of issues particularly if you disconnected the MAF. You mention the car is hunting, do you mean rev hunting? To test them, all you need to do is unplug them one at a time at the coilpack. You'll see the engine loom that runs around. With the car running and everything where it should be, unplug them at the connector one at a time, a long nose screw driver helps here. You will hear the engine note drop noticeably as its essentially dropped a cylinder. If you hear the difference, reconnect and move on. If you don't hear a note change, that is possibly your culprit coilpack / spark plug
  19. An intermittent coilpack failure will be near on impossible to diagnose without specific diagnostic equipment, however what Alex has recommended will work providing you get lucky and it decides to misbehave I had a similar issue back in 2018 on my DE in which a coilpack was failing resulting in a totally random misfire which would come as quickly as it cleared, and I finally bit the bullet when it went into limp mode on a busy roundabout leaving me stranded. Euro car parts do (did, this was 3 years ago) a OE equivalent coilpack called Bremi. When I pulled all my oem packs these were identical even down to the mould lines. I replaced all 6 and plugs at the same time as I wanted a definitive answer. These packs were around £70 quid each, against Nissan who wanted £120 + VAT each and it worked like a charm. The car never ran so well, increased performance on the butt dyno and improved MPG. Obviously I can't guarantee this is your issue, however most misfires I've seen reported are coilpack / spark plug related. I'd advise checking those as your first response as they can be a relatively cheap fix
  20. Paid the Valeted due to an operation last week, not been driven in a month so thought I'd let her sit out and bask in the sun.
  21. Yes, I fitted a similar kit to my 350z and it worked a treat. Certain kits say you should notch the subframe for greater adjustment but I never bothered. I was pretty low on coilovers and once properly aligned never had any tyre issues. Must've done a good 15K on them and they look good as new, see photo I recommend plenty of rust buster to soak the nuts / bolts in and a long extension bar. Not the type of job you want to be doing on the floor as you won't get enough leverage and end up stripping the nuts
  22. The rear is adjustable, I'd imagine your toe bolts are seized hence why you still have toe on one side. Maybe time for a freshen up on the suspension
  23. Do not manually adjust the throttle bodies with them still attached to the car. You'll bugger then instantly. I suspect your hesitation on idle is not related. Hesitation on pull away is a symptom of low oil pressure which HRs are known to suffer from. I would suggest taking it to a specialist, Horsham developments or Abbey Motorsport for a checkover. At least that way you'll get a very clear picture of the cars health without incurring an eye watering bill needing two throttle bodies
  24. They're pretty slow stock, they're getting pretty old and more and more are becoming a spotty teenagers wet dream meaning there are some absolutely horrific examples out there. That said, they have one of the biggest personalities on the car market and that character will keep you smiling and turning back around to see where you've parked. Probably the best motorway cruiser I've ever driven while doing 30mpg with the cruise control on. On a B road they're nimble enough to have some real fun with enough poke to to give most things a run, but they will step out on you if you're not careful. Routine maintenance is easy enough with knowledge and like any car if its that complex then pay someone to do. Modifications are plentiful to choose from Do I miss my old 350z? Absolutely. Do I miss keeping a old car on the road? Not so much Do I regret sticking with Nissan and getting a Nismo 370z to replace her instead of a big characterless German bargepole? Not a chance
  25. My man! Don't ignore warning signs like that again! I'm glad to hear you went to hospital and they've managed to get you back on the road to recovery. I wish you a speedy recovery and back to full health, we've got lots of shows the natter at !
