That flipping NI increase - was going to cost people what, £600 and that's all the media banged on about. Didn't mention that Class 2 iss being abolished, which saves a lot of that £600 anyway... Or that the dividend allowance is being slashed from £5k to £2k, just a couple of years after the tax on dividends was upped 7.5% That has cost people an awful lot more than the attempted NI increase.

Wow.... The NHS is incredibily inefficient. The media and lefties bang on about not spending enough on the NHS but that's complete bollocks. My local NHS Trust (or whatever they're called now) spend 52% of their budget on admin. That is absolute lunacy in my view. More money on admin than medical staff. Also, your point about tax is just ridiculous. Yes my job as an accountant does involve a lot of tax avoidance as that's what we're paid to do - identify legal tax breaks etc. I presume that you are fully utilising your personal allowance each year? Well that saves you tax, perhaps you'd better ring up HMRC and say you don't want that either. People with high incomes don't get it, so why should you enjoy that legal tax break? I'm with Ekona - top policitcians should earn 2-300k in my book. You might attract people who are competent then

I actually think solicitors should charge more as you might get decent service then. I think the reason they're generally crap is they have no time to do things. think about it, an average bill to sell or buy is what, £800 ish. That's likely 4 hours of the solicitor and think about the amount that there is to do in 4 hours. Add in a few assistants and 4 hours goes down to 3 or maybe even 2. Nowhere near enough imo to do things well.

Absolutely worth upgrading - the OEM one comes with a tape player FFS! I've done the swap in 2 of mine and found it fairly easy, albeit I am fairly confident with vehicle wiring. The speakers/woofer aren't too bad so I've always left them standard.

Louis: ALL built-in 350Z sat-navs are completely rubbish. I have a double-DIN after market stereo with sat-nav built in. And whilst Coldel is right in that there isn't much in the cars performance wise, it is a more powerful engine for pub bragging rights And regarding oil usage, neither of my Zs has had much oil usage at all - the DE was 120k too. Also, PPod, at the risk of sounding like an HR fanatic (I like all Zs), that's not really comparing like with like is it. I could mod my HR to beat a stock lambo probably, but not really comparable.

My DE was fine; maybe you drove bad HRs I don't drive 10/10s all the time so find the extra revs make it a more useable and enjoyable beast to drive. Agreed though that internal clutch slaves are a modern monstrosity. Gaskets can be an issue, but on DE the spark cylinder seals are also a widespread PITA. Going back to the OP though, I would get the best example of a 350Z that you can afford and not worry about HR vs DE vs DE rev-up. They're all similar and not having owned one before you'll enjoy whatever you get.

My old 350Z took about 6 months, 3 windscreens and 2 replacement B pillar covers to be sorted by Autoglass before I was happy with it. Don't get me started on their atrocius customer "service". Enjoy!

Having owned both a DE and now an HR I find the HR far superior. This is largley due to looks, smoother, more powerful engine (with more revs too!), the dipstick, a nice interior and, perhaps most importantly, the traction control isn't a complete dick every time it's slightly damp. Granted the rev-up covers most of these points, but I feel the HR is worth the extra. If you're worried about £200 a year in tax though, the 350Z is the wrong car for you. I'd also say that £7k isn't going to get you an HR, certainly not one you'd want to own. Rev-up is probably the one to go for.

Usual suspects would be alarm and stereo/ICE Pulling fuses isn't the worst idea in the world once you know what the draw is and can compare when a fuse is out.

I don't think my S6 edge did... The module is so out of date now, I'd be surprised if much that's new would work with it Great phone though - I'd get rid of the godawful OEM stereo and put something decent in! Not a difficult job

Yep, my HR can do it - but Jez only did the main map on mine, so I can flick between the different maps, but they all do the same thing.

Do you need one?? Wheel off, caliper off, release/slacken off handbrake shoes (through the rubber plug in the disc there's a cog to turn) and then pull the thing off (might be a screw holding it on, can't quite remember)

My last Z did this, and that was the reason then windscreen cracked too. I got autoglass to lift the screen out one day, then I ground the rust out, put some killer in, then painted it. A few days later, once the stuff had set, they came back and fitted the new screen. Of course, being autoglass they made a complete dogs ear of the admin side of things and bookings were a nightmare, but ignoring that, the only way to get rid of the rust is to cut it out. No point putting a new windscreen in without sorting it really as the rust will just crack it again

Mileage isn't as important as condition, but mileage does give an indication of what may go wrong soon. Personally I'd stump up the extra £2k for an HR (and I did). Engine is much smoother and more refined, not to mention stronger, should you ever wish to boost. If £7.2 is absolute top end for you, then the revup is definitely the way to go, the interior is so much better than the early DEs. I paid £9k for a 60k HR about a year ago, for reference. Having had a brief look on autotrader, for £7-8k there seem to be lower mileage HRs than that revup...

Done through insurance, that was never in question. Don't know what the price was as I didn't see the quote, but one of the other places I suggested to the ins co was just under a grand, so I'd guess £8-900? But don't know. Had the use of a brand new (as in 200 miles on the clock) C220d AMG-line, which, whilst not super quick, was rather a pleasant hire car to have. Was still good to get the Z back mind

Had the repair done by TGM last week, and very impressed with the results. Silver lining is there was a tiny dent in the arch before (from when I bought it) that has now gone, and Will appears to have sorted the wonky fuel cap out too

I'd keep persevering - my Z has just come back from TGM and the job was done brilliantly.
