  1. Slight update, she's had someone look at it, in her words: "So the mechanics have looked at the car and they say it is the ‘main roof motor’ which is failing i.e. when it is trying to first lift the back of roof before the front is pulled down. The two other motors deal with things like the flaps etc and seem to be ok." Im guessing this is the fifth bow motor? If this is the case could you let me know a price for one please Alex? And do you have a part number for it as well, just to put her mind at rest that it is the correct one?
  2. How bizarre! Is it particularly complex to repair then, or just diagnose?
  3. Cheers Alex, may well be needed! How much do you charge for one please?
  4. A friend with a convertible has got issues with the roof. She took it to Nissan who quoted her 10k for a new roof (!). They suspected motor as the brake trick and lubrication did nothing and they can’t supply just the motor. Apparently they had it working for about an hour and then it packed in again. ive suggested h dev, who don’t touch roofs, TGM who have never done one, but would look. shes keen to get someone who has done it a few times before. We are in Basingstoke, but I’m sure she’d travel a reasonable distance for the right person. any suggestions/recommendations?
  5. Still got these, re-found them the other day!
  6. I've got non-burnt tips for sale, if that helps anyone:
  7. Having a clear out of a loft - these need shifting. £50 for the exhaust and £20 for the springs - collected from south of Reading - RG30.
  8. Dang, too late. Bought one off ebay now! Exactly the spec you said as well neo. Now with my 1TB HDD added in as well. Just got to prat around with getting the cheapy wifi adapter working now... >.< Works fine by the router so I'm guessing interference from something.
  9. For £250, I'd be biting their hand off. A decent refurb, as has been mentioned, will cost that. Looks great though, glad you could bin the audi
  10. Cheers for your help. Looks like the 9020 might be good enough for me in standard spec anyway, and I can just add in my existing hard drives to bulk that up. I doublt I'll be needing to mess around with the PSU anyway. If I get that into it I might as well do a proper build!
  11. Not a bad idea I suppose. Wouldn't mind building myself, but just wondering whether the cost is worth it for me. Looking at your 9010/9020 ebay suggestions and you can get one for £150-200 which is pretty good. Can then mod that as needed. Are the slimline towers more of a PITA for upgrading graphics cards etc?
  12. That dell is xp! Bought in the the mid 2000s I think.
  13. Nothing high powered, just browsing and the odd bit of work. All cheap PCs seem to only support 1 screen though and 2 monitors minimum is a must for me. I guess I could buya cheap dell and then put a proper graphics card in for the dual monitors, but then wondering whether I might as well build it myself. Is it still noticeably cheaper to build it yourself?
  14. I'm a complete novice at this, but have a question: I've got an old Dell desktop - can I simply remove the motherboard, graphics card, ram and processor and replace them with modern equivalents? Ie keep the case, cd drive, harddrives (would probably upgrade them tbf) and power supply the same? I desperately need a new machine and always fancied tinkering with them and then found this old Dell in the loft and just wondered if it was doable. Might end up being cheaper just buying a new one anyway admittedly
  15. They are actually worse than I thought they'd be. They haven't been blended into the rest of the car at all well, despite what all the pundits were saying last year. Hideous
  16. Mustang Mustang Mustang! That blue looks lovely. Much nicer than a generic grey audi. If you've signed a contract though you could be in difficulty, albeit I'd be amazed if they were to insist on sticking to it 100%
  17. Yes she wasn't in her best dress that day! And the day was pretty miserable anyway. Glad she's back in good health now
  18. The delay is only on UHD though, the rest of the time it's fine, or is there a separate section for that that I've not noticed? All my sound is optical, not HDMI
  19. I'd probably go for the Range Rover sport SVR. big, comfy, fast, practical and sounds good too
  20. Either I think. Mine's all wifi. I'm with plusnet for internet, with a netgear router, very few issues. The main box loses the internet connection once every month or two and needs a reboot but that's about it. I've a mini box in the room above and no issues with that either. Massive step forward from normal sky, mostly because the interface doesn't look @*!#. The only thing I've found is that when watching live UHD, the sound sync isn't right. Normally this is footy or F1 so doesn't really matter as no-one is on screen speaking for the key parts, but still irritating.
  21. Hope the new clutch works! Adam was surprised to see his old car there when we arrived
  22. Slave cylinder is inside the bell housing on the HR - a not so great bit of design. It is outside on DE and a 5 minute job to change
  23. Pretty sure my mate tried a week or so ago and came to the same conclusion
