  1. No. Alcantara doesn't come in widths of 50cms - it comes in widths of 150cms. So it's either been cut down or it's replica. I'd be very surprised if that turned out to be genuine! Also, only two of the colour codes match anything listed in the Alcantara brochure I have in front of me. So that fills me with doubt as well. I know people want to save pennies here and there but seriously, this is one fabric that it's just not worth scrimping on... buy the proper stuff or buy it twice
  2. You can buy it on eBay: here - that listing's for a 0.5 metre length. Or you can get it from UK Hide: here. Both of those suppliers carry the genuine article. And it's not cheap - usually around £100 per metre length. Anything other than the proper stuff just won't last long inside a car... the sunlight will start to fade it almost immediately!
  3. Buy genuine. Anything else just won't last in a car cabin!
  4. I had to use Paisley recently to shift an Escort interior for a friend. I had to use "pallet delivery" to get the quote but ended up just sending them as 3 separately labelled parcels. Think it cost around £62 from memory. It's a pain that PF have changed their pricing structure this year!!
  5. What's up with the existing covers on your armrests?
  6. I'm genuinely confused here. Has the issue now shifted from the original "group buy / angry trader" one to this "who badmouthes who?" debate...?
  7. Ok, here's my opinion on this seemingly thorny subject. Here, as on so many other car forums, there is a usually misguided belief that modifications add value to a car. So if you buy a £5k car and spend £1.5k on a bodykit and another £2k on paintwork, your car is now magically worth £8.5k! History shows us that, 99% of the time, this is completely untrue. I'm not familiar with any of the threads that have been specifically mentioned but, generally (and in my experience on various forums), a seller will only get comments on an asking price if it's either too high or too low (based on general opinion and current market trends). This could be because of something like the scenario I mentioned before, or something else entirely. I've commented on for sale threads, usually saying something like "I wish I had the money!" which, as has already been mentioned, is a nice free bump for the seller. I can't see a problem with it and, if someone said something along those lines on a thread of mine, I wouldn't have a problem with it. If someone commented on my for sale thread saying that my pricing was way off the mark, I'd have to assume that there was a reason for the comment; perhaps they'd seen something similar on eBay or PH that was priced lower than my item. I'd go and investigate. Whilst I wouldn't necessarily be over the moon at being told that I was pricing something too high, I very much doubt I'd kick off about it. I'd probably respond with something like "Thanks for your opinion" and be done with it. The very nature of forums is that they are built and based around discussion. The For Sale threads on here are exactly that: threads, not Classified adverts. Change that whole section to classified ads if nobody wants there to be any discussion around what's on sale. Thing is though, most people like there to be discussion about these things as every single new post just bumps the item for sale back up the board...
  8. A very small update to this thread: I finally got around to retrimming my very manky-looking handbrake handle last week! Just a remodelled gearknob to do now...
  9. You mean the ones on the doorcards? If so, then they should be exactly the same - although I'm not sure if there's any difference between the pre-facelift ones and the facelift ones.
  10. He also brought the driver's seat to me to have a repair done About time you actually posted something on here, mate! Not long before there's some new changes to document either...
  11. Anyone interested, by the way: click on this Facebook link and click on the "My Band" app on the left hand side
  12. I've been in numerous bands over the years - the last "band" I was in consisted of just me; writing, playing, singing, recording and mixing everything on my own! Trimming leaves me with little to no free time nowadays so the music's fallen by the wayside, sadly
  13. Another Mondo? This may get confusing at some point...
  14. I'll just trim yours for you as you're a local lad, Mikey I'm the reason Graeme was selling this wheel anyway...
  15. My question is simple: should anything bad happen to that car and, say, the rear quarter-windows get smashed... how would anyone replace them? The kit looks like it'll partially obscure them! God knows what he's got planned for that Celica Convertible next to it....
  16. I'd love these for my 300! No way on earth it's gonna happen though Someone's gonna get a nice upgrade here! Good luck.
  17. I suppose it can be argued that anybody can suffer some sort of medical episode whilst behind the wheel, but I then guess you have to wonder if there's any underlying medical condition that this driver suffers from which might cause blackouts... Personally, I agree that the "elderly" should by and large be prevented from driving. There's an elderly guy lives very close to me who has reaction times that can be measured on a sundial, yet he's regularly driving around (albeit infuriatingly slowly!) in his very big Mercedes.
  18. As a proud owner of one of these 90s cars, I've found that the value of mine has pretty much doubled since I bought it last year!
  19. I had both my wrists broken at the same time when I was younger (got a thorough shoeing off a gang of lads!) and it was awkward having them both in plaster, to say the least!! I was, however, able to wipe my own backside, thankfully
  20. I always fancied trying my hand at this sort of thing, but I genuinely don't have the time (or spare cash) to learn how to get a great end product out of the moulds! Everyone everywhere wants real carbon goodies though, so this is perfect for anyone wanting to carve their own little niche in the (after)market
  21. Thanks guys Here's a couple from the Nissan Experience at Donnington earlier this year. I had the good fortune to spend most of the Friday night with a few members from here - twas good!
  22. Automotive upholsterer. Prior to that, and alongside it for a few years, I worked for the Tax Office investigating fraud! I can safely say I've never been happier than I am now I'm working for myself!
  23. Nowhere near finished with her yet - the underside's to be stripped, sealed and painted over the winter, along with a completely refurbished rear subframe. The wheels will be getting refurbed in the next few weeks as well as they're letting the visual of the car down down. And, ridiculously, I'm thinking of redoing the interior as well... even though it's cost me around £1k in materials alone already! There are a couple of bits inside that I want to redesign to make it stand out a little more. But she's a good solid car, which is pretty rare for these things in itself. Had her first MOT under my ownership a few weeks back and she flew through.
  24. I think I actually remember yours from the forum - didn't the engine pop due to an oil cooler line or something? Aww, don't be like that - I have to show off a little, Lexx I'll do you a nice deal on a retrim when the time comes, how about that?
