  1. Definitely. Nice looking though. I know some seats do seem to demand a premium even in used condition though. Recaro RS4 wingbacks are one set that springs to mind as they're usually at least a £1K each in used condition. Link: http://www.ebay.co.u...-MAAOSw6oBXEoam You could pick up a pair of the seats the OP posted secondhand, have them trimmed and have seat heaters fitted, for less than that. But you're not wrong about some seats costing big bucks - I do a lot of work on old Fords and the Recaros out of RS Turbos are starting to climb in value quite considerably. Even a tatty pair will easily go for three figures nowadays!
  2. You'd have to modify the Bride rails to fit the Nissan's floorpan. Recaro Speeds are superbly comfortable and the bases are a decent width. I'm not sure that any bucket seat like those is designed for massive people (not saying you are, by the way!) but for something of an average or slim build, there shouldn't be any problems. I have a pair of Speeds in my 300ZX and I simply wouldn't change them for anything!
  3. I recently sold some leather on eBay. The auction ended with a winning bidder and, by the end of that day, I'd heard nothing at all and received no payment so I sent him an invoice. Three days later, still no contact so I sent him another invoice with a note attached asking him to pay so I could send the leather out to him. Two days after that, he sends me a message saying he gets paid in three weeks' time so he'll pay then!! No contact prior to bidding to ask if this was ok... he basically just told me that's what was happening. I replied saying I wasn't happy about it because he hadn't asked beforehand and he replied (again, a couple of days later) basically saying "Tough!" So I relisted it but, without thinking properly, I didn't cancel his original transaction. Imagine my surprise when he made payment before the second aauction ended, meaning I had to end the second one and then send him the leather. The worst bit is that, as a seller, I can't leave with negative feedback. I can leave him positive but with a negative message attached, but that's not really the same thing is it...? It really winds me up that sellers have their hands tied so much on there... eBay's argument is that, without buyers, there'd be no eBay. But surely, common sense has to dictate that it would be the exact same scenario without sellers as well...?
  4. I'm looking forward to seeing how 70-odd cars (at present) are going to fit onto Millenium Square....
  5. I used to be a civil servant until a couple of years agao. The upholstery was just a sideline that provided some pocket money at that point, although I was slowly building it up as a bona fide business. I was on a "reasonable" wage with the government - far higher than minimum wage, for example. But I really didn't enjoy it one bit. The commuting was a killer and I can't say I wholeheartedly agreed with the ethics of the job I was doing, so I basically wasn't happy in my work. When my health took a downturn about 3 years ago, I found myself pondering what to do as myself and work were at loggerheads over how to help me. Push came to shove 2 years ago and I exited the Civil Service, which meant that the upholstery had to replace that wage from that point! Basically, I've taken a huge pay cut. But I love my job and I always find a way to make the ends meet. So personally speaking, I'd say it's better to be happy and poor than to be rich and miserable...

  7. You must be absolutely tiny if Sam's looming over you in that picture!!
  8. With my old 300ZX, I find a lot of people either ask me "What is it...?" or, if they're slightly more clued-up, "That's a 350Z, yeah?" Both of which make me chuckle. Once I've explained things, there's a fairly standard raft of questions that subsequently get asked: "Does it really have two turbos?" "Is it thirsty?" "Is it expensive?" "Is it really 24 years old?" "Why didn't you fancy a Skyline...?" There's a small handful of people I see around where I live who actually know what it is without being told, and they seem appreciative about it's comparative rarity and street presence. But most people simply have no idea what the hell it is. I think the best one I ever heard was when I pulled up outside a local shop on a nice day, so the roof was in the boot. A couple of youths were loitering outside and one asked the other "That's nice. What is it?" His friend gave him a knowing look and said "It's a kitted MR2 - the roof gives it away!"
  9. The really awful truth in this is that she obviously doesn't want to give you those things. As much as we may all wish otherwise, you can't change someone's feelings or make them feel how they used to - that needs to come from them. I've been in your position in the past and I know how badly it can hurt... I know how it can feel like absolutely nothing else matters other than getting that person back in your life.... that feeling does pass, I promise! It's the time between right now and that point that leaves the emotional scars... All you can do is ride this out and, if need be (and it helps), keep turning to the membership on here. It's a bit cliched but there is truth in the notion that it can be easier to open up to strangers (or relative strangers) than to your closest friends and family.
  10. Question: what happened to your old Celica?
  11. Not as yet, Mick. Best option looks to be getting a pair (plus discs) from Emperor
  12. Are these the 345mm front discs or the 325mm ones please?
  13. Okay, I'm potentially looking for a pair of front Brembo calipers off a 350Z. Nothing definite at this point... more a case of seeing what's available and at what cost. Anyone able to offer any insight please?
  14. Which, as we all know, completely defeats the point of the first referendum and would set a dangerous and destructive precedent! There are plenty of humorous petitions doing the rounds at present - my personal favourite is the one asking to replay the Battle of Hastings! - but, if another referendum happened due to this current pressure, then virtually any voted result could be contested in the future, just because a certain faction in society weren't happy with the original outcome. Good or bad, I hope last Thursday's vote is the only vote on this subject.
  15. Fixed that for you, cos God did it need it!
  16. To be fair, my Facebook feed this morning was brimming with Remain voters spouting that 52% of the UK population are racist bigots, so HaydnH's comment is based on fact. I'm in no way suggesting, of course, that all Remain voters think that way!! There is however a vocal contingent that are cheerfully labelling Leave voters as racists and bigots.
  17. That spoiler looks very similar to the 99 Spec ones found on a 300ZX!
  18. Just to add to what I said about my refurb experience: it took the guy three attempts to get them to the state they were in the photos and, to be honest, I don't think he knew what he was doing (despite coming highly recommended!). For starters, he heated the wheels then applied the powder primer. I was of the understanding that powdercoating involved an electric current, but he did it differently. The first time he tried them, he applied 2k paint over the powder primer, then a powder lacquer. But the heat needed to cure the lacquer bled the finish out of the paint, so he tried again. Same result. After some to'ing and fro'ing (where he asked me to pay extra for more materials!), he agreed that he'd have the wheels reblasted and then paint them at his own expense. When I went to collect the car, the first words out of his mouth were that there were some runs in the lacquer but he didn't have a fine enough grade of wet'n'dry to remove them. It was also dark and raining when I went to collect, so I couldn't properly examine them. When I looked at them the following morning, I took those pictures. When I sent them to him, he initially tried to blame the shotblaster, but he later said that he couldn't spare the time to flat the primer down to ensure a smooth finish. I asked him what he was going to do to rectify this and that was when he told me that I'd need to pay a further £250 to have them redone and that he would then only do them in a single colour! I wasn't happy with that as I'd specifically asked for them to be two colours and he'd told me that that was no problem at all. He made it clear that he wasn't prepared to offer any money back or to sort them at his own expense, and told me that my ideas of a "poor finish" differ from other peoples!! I asked him if he'd be happy if they were his wheels and that was the point that he said "for the price you paid, yes!" I ended up getting brand new wheels for the car as I couldn't live with the hatchet job he'd done on mine, which completely negated the cost-saving of having my wheels refurbed in the first place. I left a factual and polite review on his Facebook page, detailing every single message and interaction between he and I. His response? "Wow, really?" You couldn't make it up... For a while, if I saw anyone locally asking about wheel refurbs, I just posted pictures of mine and let people ask me which butcher had done them. I haven't gone on any kind of smear campaign against him, but I've told people (privately) when they've directly asked me where I had them done.
  19. My biggest issue with the EU is the simple fact that it can override the UK's courts. I cite the case of Abu Hamza. Here was an individual who contributed the square root of nothing to the UK - he didn't work, his family didn't work, they all simply took and took and took. And how did he repay this astonishing generosity...? By publicly venting his spleen about his hatred for the West in general and the UK in particular! By calling for hatred and murder on the streets of the UK and praising terrorist acts, both here and abroad. The man was, quite simply, a drain on society and an absolute danger to this country and its citizens. So, the Powers That Be decide that enough is enough and he is to be deported out of a country that he openly despises. But! The EU Courts decide that we aren't allowed to do this because it'll breach his human rights. Never mind the terrorist bile he's spouted for a decade... never mind the call to arms he's issued to radical Muslims... never mind the fact that he was a complete parasite... no, we have to continue to tolerate his presence and his hatred because he might receive some rough justice back in his home country! How can a court in a foreign country have the arbitrary right to tell the UK who it can and can not have living in it? How?! I notice that Brussels didn't once offer to put him in one of their prisons. That would've got him out of here and also protected his "human rights" at the same time. But no, he just stayed here at their insistence and continued his hate campaigns, safe in the knowledge that we (as a country) were completely powerless to do anything whatsoever. It must have stunned him to the core when the deportation order finally came through and he got on that plane, but look at the hoops we had to jump through for that to happen! Hamza wanted nothing more than open warfare on the "infidels" in a country and culture he had nothing but hatred and contempt for. He'd already plied his trade in Jordan, then fled here when his actions caught up with him, where he continued to be a literal menace to society! And yet some nameless, faceless entity in mainland Europe decides that we still have to suffer him in case his feelings are hurt...?! Balls to that. That is my main issue with the EU. What is the point in the UK having any kind of justice system when it can so easily be overruled? We might as well defer every last thing to Brussels, if that's the case.
  20. I had the old wheels on my 300ZX refurbed a few months ago and... well... I was told that the quality was good for what I paid (£250)!! Also told that they wouldn't be put right and done "properly" unless I paid again.... To date, I've cost the guy about £6k in business by telling people who were looking to have theirs done to avoid him at all costs!
  21. As if by magic...! The good news is that embroidery on the headrests is no real problem. The bad news is that you'd need to have brand new covers made, as the 370Z headrests (at least, the Roadster ones) are injection-moulded into the covers. Any attempt to remove the cover from the headrest itself will destroy the foam underneath and leave you needing to buy a complete replacement headrest. When you say you're wanting a "3D shape" what do you actually have in mind.....?
  22. Mrs Mondo and I were discussing this last night as she genuinely doesn't know which way to vote. I'm "out" however, and it's as simple as that.
