  1. I was not supposed to work - seriously the school I attended was to Bring up Young Ladies, who married where the necessities where to be able to host the Dinner Parties that my future Husband required for his Business associates. Yes, I did all the walking with books on your head to make sure you asked tall etc. I have a trail of elocution certificates.!!!!!! Most of my peers followed this course. I was working from the age of 12, in restaurants at 16 and pubs from 18 much to my headmistresses horror.!!!! My school projects were often car related and I ended up marrying a mechanic !!!! To be fair to my schooling, did however, give me the confidence and teach me the ability to knock on doors and walk into the unknown, no matter how scary. Somehow I have done ok despite working all my life and mostly on my own (Hubby did not last long !!! : ) I am just chuffed with myself, did not think I would ever get to the stage of being able to own 2 cars, let alone travel to some amazing places. I do not have regrets, but do feel, I could have had a more challenging career and something significantly more interesting than accounts. Next time around - I am coming back to Race Rally cars................
  2. Some interesting jobs/carers in this thread Wish I had received better guidance when younger to have better realisation of all that was out there, I would have followed another career course,
  3. I have been teaching the Scouts for the last 3 years all about good cars. It has been really funny when their Dad's state the cars I own and they tell me their son/daughter now points them out on the road. An essential part of upbringing I reckon !

    which wheels

    Gold looks tons better !!
  5. I loved the Interceptor, brilliant engine/exhaust sounds from that car if I recall correctly. There used to be a Jensen garage in these parts years ago, so you would ish often see one on the roads. Was only talking about Jensens at the weekend when at the Race Retro Show in Kenilworth. Some brilliant Group B rally cars on show and having a blast !!!
  6. Low miles, low age, low number of owners - Surely ??
  7. Wow, that was a good 20 minutes reading. I really hope this gets resolved certainly deserves to with all the help from here. Nice to see a community working so well to help another Z Forum member. I used to prefer to buy privately, I hear more and more of this though which is very off putting.
  8. And bringing this thread back to Topic............................. Looking forward to the Welsh Trip and a weekend Trip to The Ring, then deciding where to take my main holiday - so many Countries to explore. Hoping someone is organising a Europe Trip this year - need a decent Car Trip this year ..... to look forward to.......... Anyone ?????
  9. i would say while its wet, dreary and generally miserable, apathy is the general mood especially for a Soft Top. So generally people are sat at home, some dreaming about what they would like to own and some looking at what they will be purchasing when the weather improves. Re price, I will leave that to others more in the know. Good Luck though.
  10. A population of 469 in my village. I had often wondered, nice to know. Good thread idea. A pub that is sometimes open !!!! Latter days of the week and I don't think lunchtimes even then !!! A small shop in the Campsite on the outskirts of the village, which has next to nothing in it, apart from a good range of sweets for the kids as they get off their school bus there to walk home in the village. I love it here though, so quiet and great views and a fairly decent driveway - essential stuff !!
  11. Even with trusted garages, I clock my mileage before my car goes in. Guess taking a photo is better still and at least proof rather than the spoken word.. Shame we have to think like this. There is so much disrespect in the world today, seems like you have to spend so much of your life covering your back side for the just incase scenerio's !!
  12. That does sound like a fab trip, too many miles each day without a decent rest for me sadly - even with a heavier right foot. Sadly my back just says Noooooooooooooooo !!! It is annoying when you plan your trips around your body, but then it could be much worse. I agree, Florence is stunning. Duccati factory sounds interesting.

    Cayman GT4

Stunning, stunning, stunning. ........... Always been a Cayman fan and I would really like one of those.
  14. As you have already been given loads of advice, the main thing I would say is - Be Careful not to cut off your nose to spite your face. You do not want to be to be main loser in all his and just leaving with nothing to go to would be doing this in my opinion.
  15. Price will depend on what you are after. If you pack yourself- costs are reduced, but then be sure to check the detail in the Insurance wording. Your Estate Agents should be able to guide/reommend you for local removers, as should Google
  16. Argh yes, The pub - which opens - sometimes !!! I don't know exactly, but I believe it opens in the evenings latter part of the week and weekends lunch time too !!!! It is mighty strange place though !!! I wouldn't go in alone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. No snow here and I bought a new Sledge - in hope it would. Also think I am going to have to move to somewhere with better snow conditions in Winter !!
  18. Still waiting for mine !!! But then I guess I live soooooooooo far away - Delivery costs ?? !!! Please pm me payment details Ian
  19. Porsche in Towcester also give you the keys. They Insure you for 2 hours at a Cost of £40 to you and off you go. I know he area well,so sorted the route I was going to drive. Great Fun !! If you are not getting a Test Drive before you have bought the Vehicle- buy elsewhere
  20. Lucky you going to be located so close to The Ring. I have friends who live 2 hours drive away, they spend many weekends there, plus often trips after work. Last time I asked he was nearing 400 visits/runs on the Ring. He makes an excellent Co Driver !
  21. I think the same, but then...............some of the things you chaps do and spend on your cars !!!!!

  23. Hope this all works out well for your Dad and as said earlier, Remember to take good care of yourself too and ask for help if its needed.
  24. Which will be either 5 or 15 minutes from me !! And yet, I oh so rarely see one, Wasso's parked up sometimes. Braver than I would be Ian ! I couldn't bear to watch that happen to a car of mine. Does look like there was plenty of fun in the process though.
  25. I also do not think you will have any problems with the questions you have asked. However, I would add, I think the car better handles in a slightly higher gear than I would otherwise have initially thought. Re - Additional Driving Courses - No harm in doing these anyway, all add to your ability, confidence and enjoyment of driving. Personally I would have everyone do 'The Advanced Drivers Course' - IAM - In the main - you will be taught to look much much much further ahead and according to conditions. - which actually allow you to drive much faster but in a safer and more controlled manner. So many brilliant tips in this course. You can tell on the road pretty much who has and has not done this course. Skid Pan - Well why wouldn't you - Loads of Fun - whether you will ever remember any of it - the day you need it on the road though - is another thing. More than anything you will gain the knowledge - you really have to push a car hard to loose it - again tyre dependent. Winter tyres are a big consideration for the colder months, especially good in the wet and essential in the snow - or for the latter - just get a lift or a taxi !!! Perhaps for now - go find yourself an empty car park when wet and from standstill gently accelerate off. Continue to do this until you get some wheel spin or not. Will give you a good indication of how much wellie you can give the car before it wants to let go. Most of all drive it lots, best thing for giving you the confidence. Enjoy !!
