  1. Hey Terry welcome and congrats on the purchase of your Zed. They're not intimidating, just a hell of a lot of fun. Enjoy.
  2. Congratulations on the purchase of your Zed. They say that good things come to those that wait and it certainly seems like you've waited.
  3. I doubt you'd be able to see much if you were to drive in the dark as i've never seen such rough headlight lenses. I know it'd only take a bit of work to clean them up but its another example that this car has been unloved and probably never serviced.
  4. There was an article about this exact problem in Blue Print Magazine a few months ago (trade magazine) and the problem was traced to a missing seal which after time had allowed water in and causing corrosion and the problems you're encountering. This may not be the case and as Sam Magoo mentions have you tried the throttle position reset? This may solve your problems although I'm not sure why you're encountering the other problems you mention. If you want i can send you a copy of the article i mentioned which may shine some light on the problems you are encountering and help rectify your problems. PM me and let me know if you need a copy of the article.
  5. Yeah I hope the rear ones are easier to remove as well as mine are due for replacement imminently. Just need to contact Clark Motorsports for a competitive price.
  6. I totally agree with Ekona but just out of curiosity what CC injectors have you bought?
  7. There is a good chance your alignment is out, especially if you've not checked it since '04. A mate of mine had an old 180SX and drifted it into a kirb (only kissed it) after that every time he drove over 30mph his tyre started squealing, this was down to his alignment being out. An extreme example i know, but just goes to show how bad alignment can affect your ZED.
  8. I'm in agreement with Nodge, I'd have a go a cleaning the throttle body first off. There is plenty of info to read regarding this so as you don't **** it up, as long as you don't do anything daft you should be OK, plus the sense of achievement will give you confidence in attacking other jobs.
  9. Yup, Redditch is a little bit too far from Southampton.
  10. I've also been looking at the Nengun site and compiling a shopping list. From what i understand as long as you don't take the p**s then you can usually get away with not being charged with import duty. On the USA site quite a few guys have found the same thing. Its only when you order large or a large quantity of parts that you get hit.
  11. As Hooch mentioned, i have an even cheaper fix that cost me 99p and consisted of a spoke key for a bicycle. If you fit it so that the slots for tightening the spokes are face down you can't even notice them and with the chrome finish fits the the gearknob of my Zed a treat and it looks like it was an OEM fitment. I love it and it counts to be the cheapest original looking mod I've fitted to my Zed.
  12. I feel for the aftermarket company's that sell tax disc holders as there is going to be a huge pile of these things going for melt down in the near future unless some enterprising entrepreneur can come up with a wonderful use for them!!
  13. I'm so glad you managed to get your problem sorted out but I'm with 350zedd, I'm surprised you couldn't smell he burning brake pad or at least smell burning as you walked around the car. Regardless I'm so glad you've managed to sort out the problem and that you're butt dyno is happy.
  14. I've never heard a bad word said about these guys, just a shame they live a million miles away from me.
  15. Hey John, I know this might sound a bit daft but have you thought of going to Blacks or Millets and buying some small Carabinners as a mate of mine used four of these to secure his rear cargo net in the boot of his Zed, they worked a treat. Just a thought.
  16. Welcome to the forum. The buyers guide that Jud mentions is invaluable, read through it a few times just to acquaint yourself with what you need to look for and what probing questions to ask. Good Luck.
  17. Welcome to the forum. I'm of the opinion of the answers that you've been given above and that its either a JDM car or has been fitted with an aftermarket alarm (little point on UK models as the alarm is rated as Thatcham Cat 1). A little more searching of your car may help source the beeping although if it poses no problem i wouldn't worry about it.
  18. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. There is plenty of info in the relevant section, just have a read through and you'll find all of the answers to your questions.
  19. Hey Glen. welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. Not quite as quick as your Hayabussa but just as much fun in other ways. Happy motoring.
  20. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. I bet you can't wait to pick it up!
  21. Welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase of your new new Zed.
  22. This is the one part of car design or progress that really winds me up. The days of mechanics being fitters & mechanics instead of "technicians" who just throw pre-assembled parts at problems have gone because the manufacturers have designed parts to be sealed units and as a result in a lot of cases being unrepairable. Consult software is plugged in and whatever part it says is faulty is thrown at the car. I suppose I'm a bit of a Luddite but i get an immense sense of satisfaction when fixing something as opposed to fitting something that costs a fortune. I agree with you Bacon ts a con, an outrageously expensive con. You have a PM. Have you tried; Dewsbury Auto salvage (on ebay), FCS 0121 3278214 (I've used these before), Intapart 01327 310511 (used these before also), Easy Jap Parts 01214590077, Nippon Spares 0800 031 9915. I've a few more breakers numbers if you don't have any success with any of these.
  23. I've scared myself, Halfords are looking into it as an urgent safety issue and i've got to admit I'm just looking at the old fashioned ones with holes and pins. They don't give you much adjustment (about three or four heights between eight and ten cm apart) but they look to be the safest on the market. It'll take quite a lot for me to get under a car if its held up with the ratchet type. I appreciate that there are a lot of them out there and they're all probably safe, its just that it only takes one pair to fail and i hope that one pair was mine as i got out OK.
  24. Dicky, the method Lexx mentioned does work, I've used that method myself on more than one occasion. What you need is to get a lump hammer and really belt the socket onto the lock nut. If you have any old English sized sockets that you don't mind knackering up and that are an interference fit then use one of those. Put the car in first and the handbrake on tightly and with a nice long breaker bar slowly rock backwards and forwards and then suddenly give it a good wrench and the offending lock nut should come free. Use an old wheel nut until you can get down to the dealers and free the lock nut from the socket with a punch. This does work!!!
