Ask and ye shall receive. It's actually no more advanced to the chemicals found in Fairy Liquid, which is at £12 cheaper for the bottle... (which is also the stuff that'll get [wrongly] recommended to strip off old LSPs too by the way). As Ricey says, the surfactants merely facilitate the loosening of dirt making it easier to remove. Except you're still left with the task of physically removing that looser dirt. It's a similar theory (although different execution) to pre-washing, except with pre-washing you tend to rinse off rather than wipe off so that loose dirt is washed away with the water rather than (ideally) lifted off with a cloth. ONR is one of those products where people who like it swear by it and claim anyone who doesn't get along with it isn't using it "properly". As Ricey says, fillers masks a lot of the sins inflicted, at least for a short time. If you do a test make sure you check before and after doing an IPA wipedown after the test to check for those fillers. As with anything detailing, there's a technique to getting the best out waterless washes in general; that technique seems to be to use a lot of product, a fresh microfibre cloth every 2 inches and apply no pressure at all. Preferably on a clean car. That's white or silver. With hard paint. And a bad light source. For the record I've tried ONR and a few other waterless washes in the past and put it this way; I don't have the option of washing the Z with water where I currently live so it's not been clean in months. I'd rather live with a filthy car than not wash it properly.

It all goes downhill after page 5 too....

We know, as a community we've even tried to raise some bribe money! Alas, no one is that rich...

They're typically Oxalic/Thioglycolic acid based and utilises ammonia.

Auto Wheels isn't exactly a pleasant scent, that's true - you certainly wouldn't want to use it as an air freshener! But it's still a lot better than some.

Not according to the tests in my thread, no. Revolt is currently my go to and I'd be surprised if anything that's not Bilt Hamber beats it... should I ever get round to finishing that test

Exactly, the kit by its very design looks half finished so why not carry that on with the paintwork too?

Excuse the filthy car... I don't have an excuse, I've just not cleaned it this year.

Also stop pedestrians existing. And cheap tyres too. And changable weather. All to save lives.

What's this "or" business? Surely it's just a question of which format to see it in first?!
-
"Pre-existing conditions, Mr Kane, are not covered..."

...and don't actually cover any modifications.

... and the first thing he's done that's been anything more "adequate" in the last few months.

If at all possible, opt for a corded vacuum as like for like it'll be better than its cordless counterpart in almost every way. And if you're going corded then what Ricky did gone done say. If you are stuck with a cordless options then I've found that Dyson tend to be the better options if your budget can stretch to it.

And used, what... 5ml? 10? Great product for IV protection but that's a lot of waste! Nearly as expensive as a coating too. Nearly!
-
^^True. Just be careful to avoid the paintwork with that though.

Good to hear that you're getting somewhere with it. You could try a stronger APC mix or perhaps a degreaser like Bilt Hamber Surfex HD to make the job a little easier. You'll still need some elbow grease but it might just save you RSI

Ah but, how often do they replace parts? I'd quite happily run my Impreza with full on rally spec because the pros did in WRC but I can't afford to replace the engine every other day like they did
-
That will mostly be dirt, by the way. Clean it, thoroughly, with any APC a detailing brush and a load of microfibre cloths, several times until no more dirt comes out. Dry it then dress it with your choice of trim dressing; Gyoen, Nanolex, GTechniq, CarPro, or for the less durable but cheaper option, AutoFinesse

You'll likely find that no one other than the Admiral group (perhaps even just Elephant, because insurance companies!) recognise that as a full year year's NCB, because it's not to anyone other than Elephant. Many places offer the accelerated NCB on a 10 month policy as a means to tie you into their policies for the long term knowing this.

Either the cat(s) is/are breading down and need to replaced, the sensor(s) aren't functioning properly or you've got exhaust modifications that the standard sensors don't like (such as decats, for example). If it's only happening when the engine/exhaust is hot and you've got no modifications, it's likely to be the cat(s) are on the way out.

Alright Dan, do you have any witnesses that can account for your whereabouts last night? It just seems a little too suspicious if you ask me....

Interiour plastics cleaner/colour restorer?
ilogikal1 replied to Tricky-Ricky's topic in Car Detailing
Just a word of warning, C4 (and other coating based trim restorers) whilst very good may be a little too shiny for interior plastics such as the dashboard. -

For cleaning the plastics, a magic sponge (unless they're gloss then don't use that! ) and a mild dilution of APC to clean. To dress would depend on what sort of finish you want, some people actually like that horrible shiny finish.... Fabrics, HubiKote fabric cleaner is very good. Wet vac if you have one will do wonders, as will a steam cleaner.
