  1. Nope no spacers Edit: After those pictures were taken, I did subsequently go up to 275/40 245/40 tyres and lowered it a bit to improve things (now less gappy).. along with the other go-faster mods.. Good wheels, but polished do need care as road grit quickly ruins the laquer over time.
  2. that is genius - they must have had a barrel of laughs making that
  3. My Aussie wife, through jealousy, named my Zed 'Precious' due to the unnatural obsession* I got when supercharging. Since last May, she's emigrated back to Oz without me... the idea being I follow on when the time is right, leaving** Precious behind.. Pwwrreecioussss.. * perfectly reasonable - blokes need projects, no? ** virtually impossible to import into oz modified post 1988 cars anyway..
  4. 2016, the year that keeps on taking.
  5. Well I've got standard sized Khumo KW27's on a spare set of OEM touring 18" wheels for my SC, replacing summer's MPS2 18/275 and although they were initially good, I must admit I seem to get a fair bit of greasy rear steer after re-fitting this year (last Sunday). I've had them three winters and 10800 miles (last couple of winters FI), and although there is loads of tread still, I'm not so sure they are that sticky anymore. Stuff ages I guess - it is still warm though.
  6. Money is a bit of a pain - it is expensive to FI etc a 350Z - and never refundable. However, if you approach it from a perspective of 'project is fun because #project', whilst doing most of the work yourself and turning a blind eye to the money pit cost as far as you can, then it's worth it (in a few of us drive-way spanner monkeys' opinions). Zeds are much better at 400+ and pretty reliable in my experience. FI comes after the brake/tyre/suspension/service basics though.
  7. Here you go - the definitive guide on weight loss and what's involved.. after the epic turbo upgrade.. http://www.350z-uk.c...eekend +project
  8. I've got one of these with a supercharged zed attached to it - sounds great
  9. Speakers on.. Bit of the legend Phil, bit of street lights dancing down a black Ferrari Daytona Spyder, bit of heartbreak, melancholic menace and crazy urban driving.. ^^ after pressing play, pops out bigger if you select the bottom right picture in picture tool (next to 'vimeo') Saw this when first aired on TV as a youth.. left a lasting impression
  10. Excellent work Hodaka Highly industrious! Great pics and write up
  11. ..excited.. might keep the zed after all.. Australia may no longer be calling

  12. Donking weird I call it
  13. Great pics - beautifully exotic - congrats
  14. HFC (Fast Intentions) on my V3 supercharged - no sign of burn out and passes MOT every time De cat always runs fail risk or swap required at MOT S/C or not.
  15. I'm in Wendover. Closest club recommended independant / Z friendly garage to High Wycombe is Japex in Kings Langley (A41/M25 junction then back a bit). Else there is Horsham if you go out on the M4 (A34 junction M4 then a bit of country offset) or Abbey if you go round the M25 further to Surrey. I've used all 3 for non-DIY servicing/MOT and I'd vouch for all
  16. Soft spot for Subarus here too. I had a MY97 Twin Turbo Legacy GT (aka Lunacy) for about 10 years, which looked very similar to your blue one - except longer of course. Great to see a Subaru in it's natural habitat - snow
  17. Yeah veterinary latex doesn't seem to cut the mustard on cars. I should upgrade
  18. Loving your progress again Andy I have such welding skills and garage envy of you
  19. Cheers Gareth. I know, lol.. the plug literally crumbled. I've changed oil a few times with it before, so no idea if the aluminium has heat cycle aged somehow. Seriously, too weak.
  20. Sigh. It's always the simplest things that spiral into madness. It's been pretty quiet on the car front since I permanently broke my knee ligament in March, so I thought I'd do a quick service to loosen/tighten the belts and check that all the pulleys go round without resistance, top ups, catch can drain and engine oil change, having changed the supercharger oil a few months back. Nice day (absolutely stonking summer BTW).. So off with the magic cover (Dynax looks so grubby in photos, but at least it's doing it's job) to reveal the magic catch can in which the bronze filter is still fresh as daisy - and its been over 15K since I fitted, and the can still really works - lots of goo in it I drained the oil and changed filter, and then checked my oil cooler hoses for any damage.. whoops.. rubbage so I padded that and made it snug (this particular packaging foam is made from magic plastic it would appear - seems not to melt and is really abrasion resistant) ...which brings me to the crimp in this little tale. Seems the metal in my Mishimoto magnetic sump drain plug is made from something other than real metal. I am in no way ham-fisted, but the slightest of tightening resulted in... noooo... Ugh-oh.. Well I can't just screw a sump plug in behind it, and I can't access it to turn it, and drilling would result in spinning it through into the sump - plus a load of drilling gunk in the sump - really don't want that So, off with her ..sump long sockets engaged Clarkson tool activated (hammers required ) ..and (after emptying and wiping clean).. Bar steward Months later with the gasket scraper and de-greaser (on the pan) Oem sump plug back in, loads of Permatex get-everywhere-gooby stuff.. in hindsight, it wasn't a good idea to squish it but I've lost my applicator honest guv.. ..and back on with bolts finger tight, wait for an hour then nip up 1/2 turn. Need to wait 24h for it to properly set now before putting oil in. Mmmm.. ice cold cider
