  1. So I've got my little 4 year old nephew up today, and hes been sitting at my desk looking at cars on youtube, so just fire in supercars leaving for him and let him click away. Until I clocked this video... skip to 27:31 and I can only assume this is someone we know lol. https://youtu.be/dCLV-7L_mwI Think I prefer the Gallaro Sounds good mate but ...THAT wing... lol
  2. In reference to the XKR I've driven both XK's and XKR's, 4.2/5.0. Was determined to replace the Z for a while but gave up last year/early this yearish and decided to keep the Z. My nieghbour also has one which I've had the luxury of firing about in a few times. For the money you'd be looking at the 4.2 XK's with decent mileage but there about same performance or slightly slower than the Z. The XKR's for that money would be higher mileage but still worth a punt. Big V8's are reliable, its comfy, steering light (maybe too light) but precise, paddle shift/auto and a lovely noise. They don't rust as such but get bubbling from the aluminium in some areas, early models suffer a 3/4 window panel issue which needs replacing. The only major thing I found with them is battery and electrical issues but it seems to be from leaving it for a while and not driving it, although sometimes even for a few days. I think if you actually used it daily and decent runs the electrical issues would not rear their head as they seem to stem from the battery health. You can tell I did some research, I'd still love one but they are getting long in tooth. Still look amazing though and have presence as they are ..like DB9 size. EDIT: I'm talking about 2006 onwards btw, do not buy one prior to this the old shape... it will rust...to its death usually unless you wanna spend some cash
  3. Sorry for your loss Celia. My mums fighting a battle herself which we know she won't win, so I can understand how difficult it can be, still getting to grips with tbh.... its great to see true petrol heads, no matter what the age! My thoughts with you and your family. Great pic.

haha Adrian, .... arrows and all! I also think the same of the wheels being a size too big, with a short wheel base it can look out of place. I wouldn't take an R8, they look pretty dull. I like McLaren just not 540C McLaren... used 650/12C... (mind you the GT makes the base McLaren look better with its roof). I think I agree (can you believe it) with this and see why you'd think that way, good point Dan!

I do get it as I pointed out its a bit exaggerated but I'm going to guess they don't want to live in the past with flowing lines cos' then it'd just be a repeat with slightly different looks. I can see why they are doing the change and I'm glad they are seperating the looks between it and the DB11. My fav Aston would be a 2013 model year in grey, curvy but still has some modern touches. This is still an Aston, still a decent looking car it just maybe a bit more modern...or should I say futuristic than expected. Bold... shall we say. I'm still not digging the DB11... I'd rather, if out the two... pick the Vantage. Certainly over an AMG GT or 911. Perhaps seeing it in the flesh will enhance my view ...or ruin it lol

I ... I don't like your opinion Dan.... I agree there are messy parts as above but I consider it better still than the DB11, theres just something about the DB11 I can't like... mostly its arse.

http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2017/11/21/New-Aston-Martin-Vantage-Revealed-With-Athletic-Looks-And-AMG-Power-7742111/ https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2018-aston-martin-vantage-unveiled VIDEO - https://youtu.be/GqFb0ssFM1o Been looking forward to this (raids piggy bank.. and the pensioners next door ). So lets get to it, I'm 'hefty' design orientated in my 'opinions' so stay with me... it is an Aston after all so it should look good! (and it does). Scroll down to ignore the luminous yellow one... and you'll find other pics of a grey one LIKES: - Overall shape and profile (it has a tail!) modern but still looks like a small GT, def Vantage when you see it. You can't be curvy forever, bit of modern design comes with some sharp styling it seems. - Rear lights. I suspect they'll be subjective with people but I think they work, especially with the rear haunches... gotta have hips to create a squat impression (and low roof line) - Bulge in the bonnet... who doesn't like a power bulge? - Big front end, looks imposing (however... see below*) - You can't argue with 500+hp - £120K? Not bad considering money and cars are moving 'up' the way and the amount of tech in them these days. Think the original was £80K odds? - Prob will sound ok... I'm guessing - The position of the PRND and start buttons, look well placed if not perched on fussy surroundings. - The way the grill surround sticks out separately around the front (like they have done on some of the last Vantages/Vanquish) DISLIKES: - The way the exhaust pipes look tiny cos' of the over-sized bumper design, could have been a bit smaller or I think, if you brought the pipes into the middle somewhat it'd maybe help? - The front lights, ok with the shape and proportion but I thought we'd have some sort of fancy DRL's but you get these crappy side light parts that look a bit rubbish IMO - *The grill.... yes I like that its creating a statement but the whole mesh look, I'm not so sure, could have been done smaller to reduce the 'impact; of it but I dunno.. whole lotta' mesh goin' on there... - The 'Aston' side strake... quite large, and the yellow car doesn't help it with being all black, but thankfully it seems (from the grey one) you can have it body coloured, which works fine. - The interior - IMO Aston's should have a nice uncluttered (I know they've had button fests before) dash that flows, loved the waterfall ones, this one looks a bit fussy and stuck together..trying to hard almost. - THAT bloody screen, I'll admit they've done a better job nestling it in than Mercs terrible looking 'stuck on' screen but I think that could be hidden tbh. - Same goes for the Merc finger touch scroll control thingy in the middle, tried it myself, just a bit of nonsense. - They persist on putting seat controls at your knee - I've been in a few and I can see why it would be annoying... on the door please!! Overall a good looker I think, just could be doing with a bit less exaggeration in the design to help other parts stand out, but my favourite part is the rear profile (despite the big difusser/bumper effort), the hips and lights work well. I'll have one...in that grey and as soon as Aston Edinburgh have one in, I'll be down to pour over it WHAT DO WE THINK?...
  9. Yeah I've seen lots of that online, saying its one of America's or THE most dangerous car in america for dying in. What are folk doing over there?! haha It's got to be young/inexperienced, it seems to be easier for young people ot have over their, either that or well paid jobs or mummy and daddy helped. Z's not exactly a little hatchback with moderate power lol
  10. I agree it is much but it should work out ok since its the baby sporty aston, ....crucially (for me anyway)...IT HAS A LIP/TAIL! Cars should always have a til or lip, even if its as something small as the Z's spoiler...have you seen Z's without them? They look crap lol. Same with DB11, couldn't care less about its air spoiler... its 'tails' off but...without one. I hate that. When they facelifted the DB9 in 2013 with the lip and other bits I loved it. To me the 2013 DB9 with the 5 -double spoke wheels is the best looking car period. (I know E-Type , muira etc but I'm picking my modern fav) So yeah... it has a lip. I just hope the face is not too bad as it seems to be more finished than the DB10, which I didn't like, despite it being so close in design.
  11. MODS CAN THIS BE MOVED .... my bad, wrong area
  12. https://youtu.be/vfN4xqZs_Ys Not long til' the reveal but seen this video, looks and crucially sounds not bad at all considering all the turbo wuff and nonsense cars are turning to these days. This should be much better looking than the DB11.
  13. I'm just gonna leave this pic I've posted before... says it all and it came with plenty of noise going through the twisting roads I doubt I'd have as much fun in ANY Tesla...
  14. Having owned mine for 5 years now all I think watching that classic vid is...... my god man.. look after your ball joints and bushes!!!
  15. I've always hated 911's and I'd never want one but even I love the look of the classic Singer ones, they seem to look better with age and a bit of tinkering
  16. I was 26 when I got mine many moons ago now but I agree with Dan its about the type of person, you can get young mature or idiot and you can get old mature or ...usually crap at driving (I know that's a sweeping statement but you know the people, not looking, randomly making turns, wheel shufflers...etc), Some people would be fine with it yet I know some people miles older than me that'd crap themselves trying to drive and prob be frustrated at its clutch and jerkiness. Even though I was...mature I still hooned about in it and still do but the diff was I understood what it was what it could do and what could potentially go wrong. Winter and high powered RWD is a good test of getting you 'mature' I feel. Tested me a good few times and its survived for the last 5 year lol. Ignoring the mindset I'd say for high powered anything 23+ (making my own judgement) Since its been mentioned also, which I thought was novel, my last three steps haven't hung about... 59bhp.... 141bhp ...309 bhp..... (I'd like the next to be on the 400 mark)
  17. ....I hate Tesla, good looking saloon but ...wheres the noise? Wheres the fun? (you need more than the feeling of speed for that). I've seen a few interiors on cars in person too and there awfully bland. I don't like the look of the future for cars...
  18. To eliminate that jerk that happens at around 1k revs? If you can could you tell us or even PM me what it cost to have that smoothed out? I've considered it but never really wanted to spend a fortune in getting it done.
  19. Enjoy! I love that you still have Avril as your icon pic lol
  20. I'm never wrong... in my mind What an awesome wee forum haha
  21. I've literally while reading other posts noticed my request of a 'title change' has happened to Mr. Opinion I feel honoured that I've been on long enough and 'created' a personality of posts to warrant being given such a thing. I'm never leaving... and I will find something to ...give an opinion on (usually aesthetics) Cheers lads!

    Too much worry?

So I can change this thing without the clutch etc needing done and how much is that roughly?? lol (feel the panic in my typing.. love discovering new things)

    Too much worry?

As all have said in the numerous replies, don't worry about 'little' things that come with a reasonably high performance car; servicing, tyres brakes... a constant thing. I've spent (due to my annual mileage) around £22K over 5 years running my HR and then (including the recent W brace and end bracket) a further £3K in repairs, replacements over those 5 years. I also now worry about the oil gallery gaskets, tbh I only found out about it a year or so ago I think, having done lots of research but that one eluded me it seems! As long as your sitting at 60mph,6th gear, 60psi approx...starts from cold 120ish your all good and I just need to keep an eye on it as I don't have the cash to fork out for it just now (some say 6-8 hours to do it some say 4...meh). My clutch is also fine over 100K miles and its been through 5 years of drag racing (once a year, numerous times, but I kept the launchs neat not just dumping the thing). So I have that too where you would do the flywheel... so two big expensive things that could be looming! Although I've heard someone on here at 150K on the original clutch! Can't mind who it was. Oh and speaking of new things... what the heck is the deal with the concentric slave thing??? I've not heard that one before! (see always picking stuff up from forum and I've been on it for years lol) Enjoy it and just keep it maintained, if something happens just deal with it, its always gonna be better than financing or purchasing a new thing. Thats how I look at it... £800 odds repair to keep it going for ages or years of finance again lol (I'll do that when I'm considering the Q60 redsport... if I don't hate the steering and noise too much)
