  1. Someones bought it already put it up for sale (I got just over 6K for it). 'Clean' body work... it does have marks...and will likely need work as previously discussed lol. Odd looking at your old car for sale https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201801243038158?onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&price-to=7500&make=NISSAN&model=350 Z&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=price-desc&postcode=g12bp&radius=1500&page=1

    Thank You!

So after my last post I sat and thought about it and did take into account that the Z could be fixed up, still with a good bit of cash, but less than quoted (but I knew that). I also realised it was stuff that didn't need to be done just now but would require attention soon. Given that and its normal running costs and the fact I've now just about to jump into a new flat of sorts, I decided to give her up. Couldn't find anything I wanted at a more reasonable running cost (that I actually wanted and would feel happy to pour money into...as I know there plenty of cheap fast cars out there), so I went for the route of a cheap 65' plate low mileage hatch to keep me going for 2-3 year. House action starts next week so good to get it sorted already. I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone on this forum, especially the 'old timers' and regulars who have helped me out with information, new/used parts and helped me make the Z an easier time to run. I don't earn huge money but enough to keep a Z going ... but it always helps to find stuff cheaper or not spend at all if you don't have to! lol. I spent a good amount of time researching the 350Z prior on this well before buying a Z (as some of the long termers will remember!) and the amount of info that helped me along the way was brilliant. Met a good few people on the forum, from Scotland and still speak to them, everyone's been brilliant and although forums are generally regarded as the 'saddos' thing, the community on here is tremendous and certainly better than some of the others I've viewed/read over the years. A big following and its great to see that its updated and still going strong. I want to thank all the Team and Ex-Team that I've spoke to over the years and helped out, thank you to Cougar Store for sorting out my Scorpion/Cobra set up and also Alex for the parts I've bought of you and for putting up with the endless questions I always had . The Z's been a brilliant car (despite its jerky annoying cumbersome attitude at times), its been proper road trips through valleys and has never ceased to put a smile on my face! Its also been to Crail 5 year on the trot with the best put out at 14.3 @ 103mph (although I think it could do quicker into the high 13's). The whole point of me buying the car was to have a something fast and special while reasonably young and something that'd put a smile on my face every morning, even just going to work... which it did! (except in snow lol). If your on this forum and considering purchasing one I highly recommend it, you'll get annoyed with it but you won't regret it! I won't be disappearing (only just got my 'title' recently ) but I might be on a bit less, as I don't have my Z to talk about now! however I will still be on replying and helping out with any info I can provide from the 5 years of ownership I've had...and still giving my opinion and possibly not agreeing with Dan depending on the subject . For those who might be interested it was a 58' (Jan 2009 registered) HR, left me with over 102, 000 miles on it and had a good service stamp book. I knew I might get more private but tbh I didn't want the hassel so just traded it in. I got just over £6K for it, which I was happy enough with considering most were at the 5-5500 mark. Only paid £15K for it originally with less than 16K miles on it so its done not bad. I know it will likely go to auction but I've no idea where (it was traded into Evans Halshaw), so could be up here or be sent down south. Providing they leave everything I gave them - which they should - the cars got its 3 keys, locking nut, original handbook/leather case thing, the service book complete with 11 stamps, first 3 Nissan somewhere in Newcastle, a jap specialist stamp by the place across from Lotus Newcastle whom I bought it off (as Lotus didn't have a garage at the time...wierd...although they are not there anymore 'Silverlink') and the rest from Infiniti Glasgow. It's also got a yellow folder (below) PACKED with every service document, repair, check, MOT its ever had from me and also includes the original owners service documents/paperwork too (I took all the paperwork out the infiniti folders as it would be too much). Most wouldn't care, but on the off chance someone see's it, you'll at least have a pile of information to let you know it was looked after! (its reg is NC58 MMJ). It will need work in the future but its still running damn good! I took it a last run with a friend the night before and it still goes! Also ...again if they leave it, there's a set of 'AutoSocks' for the rear tyre's in the glove box behind the passenger seat also! (although someone may nick them or throw them out lol) Once again thank you for all your help, a brilliant forum/community as I keep saying and it seems to keep building!
  3. I know, I know, I've been on here long enough to know what should be dear and not and I get the dealer prices. They have told me go look at other stuff or supplying my own parts (they just have to give the prices as part of the service). I've seen under the car many times, I have noticed some things relating to what they've pointed out and can hear the droplinks. I know its not all expensive. (reason I still go there is I trust them to DO the work and get shown evidence where possibly, instead of just a bit of paper lol). As mentioned I think its the timing. I'm looking at the housing situation, potential things in the future with it and just general running costs. I never really cared about spending a fortune on it but now with looking at the house I need to make a bit of a change for a couple of year spending not very much. I would've kept the Z but I think slight paranoia/worry, the knowledge of what I spend on the car and then been given that after spending a fair amount on the MOT has just swung it. It looks like I'll be going for a wee hatch maybe 2/3yr old and run it for a couple of year before returning to something good. Prob 1/4 worry and 3/4 ...house and get on with more life with some more money lol I'm not ignoring advice I'm just... a dunno, I do appreciate it and I like a good moan, but other things in my life will now need money. (was driving down the motorway this morning and had to get into the left, gently pressed the throttle for a second and went past 4 cars ..in 4th gear with ease and got in comfortably. I thought... you'll damn well miss this 'ease')
  4. Probably... I just...don't want it lol Its maybe too low, I can 'just' about deal with a normal hatch for a couple of year but I don't know about a supermini thingymabob. This is horrendous, I hate this position and I hate having to do this. I'm still not sure how I want to go about it either. I'll wait until the beginning of Jan and take it from there I think. Its just gonna be hard to get my head round not jumping in the Z in the morning... If anyone can think of 'reliable' chepo things by all means I'm open to almost any option lol. Dan you do make sense... I just kinda want to ignore it though
  5. Just been to my uncles (hes like a financial advisor / IM TELLING YOU kind of person who is well off.. The kind of person who can afford an expensive luxury but doesn't and tells me the Z is an expensive luxury... ..and I'm 31 haha. Trying to look at what the hell just to do. Example, do I trade in ...and if so he thinks it should be minimum 14 plate but thats like inbiza's, fiestas etc. He doesn't think buying a 6 year old or so car for the same money is worth it incase something goes wrong. Also discussed the point of leasing a new 'heap' for a low monthly cost and selling the Z pocketing the money in the bank... but then can I be bothered with a private sale... will they come back and go...wait theres something wrong etc. Also, as mentioned buy a banger and just run about in it (sell the Z, keep the cash). Aw I don't know. I'm feeling this 'shot myself in the foot' went to high moment right now... cos' they only way is down (the Z is leaving). So whats a decent shed to buy then? (I'd like chain driven but prob not possible if buying an older thing). (also how do you quote someone from their name instead of just using the quote button? lol)
  6. It does when you don't need to spend £535 on tax, £600+ on tyres, tonnes on fuel etc etc. Its all very well if I had extra cash to fly about but I don't tbh. A lot goes into the car, which I've never really bothered about but when it comes to other stuff in life, it might have to take a back seat. And its the same for any car you buy (short of a new one which I can't do), just the same as this, do some research buy on condition/servicing etc. I bought this thing and its a bit of a money pit lol. Lets be honest any hatchback or other car of a 'normal' stature is going to be less than this (providing I don't buy a shed). I KNOW!!! I think I'm just kinda tiring of spending the money on it tbh. I'd never tire of the car (except the akward-ish clutch and annoying jerk) but this year with the house thing I'll need to look at finances and the tax and tyres etc for this thing are not making much sense anymore when other stuff crops up. I'm just thinking of something bit younger, cheaper ...run for a couple of years then see what the hells depreciated that I might want lol. ITs not a decision I'm taking likely and I know a lot of its stuff I could prob get done cheaper but it'll still cost a bit I think for this steering/track rod thing I bet. Kinda half and half. Some friends and now here telling me to keep it etc etc other half saying it costs you a fortune, be good to not spend anywhere near as much for a coupla year... Arrgh. Stuff thats mentioned, stuff needing done it will rear its head later if I just decide not to do it so I think I'd rather just let it go (and you think I'm gonna mention that sheet.. I know they'll have a look at it but.. lol) I will however include the mountain of paperwork, receipts and stuff for the next owner who hopefully can get most of that done prior to buying (although I bet they put it through auction due to the miles/age). Do you know I looked up all 4 discs/pads for a Civic 2011 (yeah its kinda started) and saw you can get the whole lot for £92.00... I was like....wow. And then had a sad upset feeling again lol. I dunno, my heart says keep the thing spend a fortune and love it.... the other side thinks, you've had a good 5 years of this driving tons of miles, been places, but your now looking at a house and needing to spend less money. How much is a lotto ticket again?
  7. Tbh, I just didn't ask much. I usually chat away and get details but when I seen the list I just went...ffs (after spending a good amount for the MOT) and just wanted to go have a think. The headlamp sensor cost is a bit of a laugh as my mate (albeit a Scania mechanic) said it was a cheap bit in itself. I wouldn't bother replacing that but the cost ....ppft. Its just getting to a stage where I'm spending too much money on it either at the time or possibly in the future and its constricting me a bit...which isn't what you want. I think tbh I've made my decision... if not a crap one. Might be heading in January (used car sales wooo *cries*). The housing thing is coming up so I kinda need to see sense. I bought this with the mindset of wanting the best I could afford young and I've loved the damn thing and it still goes like nothing else. I nearly changed it for a Jag jesus... dunno what one would cost more but yeah... I could possibly..quite likely be halving my power/torque pretty soon. As a friend said... you can always come back in a couple of year to something special.
  8. It says spark plugs but there were done not too long ago so I wouldn't be doing them anyway, brakes fine, ...tyres a bit of a worry as front look fine but the edges inside and whatever is causing it etc. Just mounting up costs that will...come at some point. Even I (if you knew me) am considering trying to spend a bit less money. (ignore the backing plate, it rotted and was rubbing on the disc so it got broken off on purpose lol)
  9. Trust me that figure is around correct I worked it out yearly and well...5 years lol. I do want to keep it but even I realise its getting long in the tooth annnnd the fact I'm trying to do the house thing, which in all sensibleness is the main thing. I've been running and never skimped on it but it has constrained me at times when doing so. In terms with what rabbitstew said, thats where we maybe at... buying a regular ...thing and running it for a coupla year then go mental again (except not financing for so long lol). When I say normal I mean like ...hatchback normal... I've even been looking (depressing ...god you've no idea)..and the only thing I found interesting with some sort of 'flair' was a Civic Type S GT. Lower running costs, plenty mpg and for what I might get the Z for I wouldn't have to add much so I'm not paying anything monthly. (2011ish 40K miles). I nearly bought a FN2 Type R prior to the Z so prob why I'm hovering near it and the 1.8 petrol is apparently...the one to get. Again however this is initial thinking. Yes, its passed its MOT and I know tyres brakes etc I was expecting that but I can hear the rattles from the back a bit and I can see the tyres wearing unevenly on them but apparently not worth doing tracking as the steering/track rod ends or something needs done. Lot of it is labour just removing stuff etc I know that. Its just got me thinking that its took a hell of a lot of money away from me in the last five years, constrained me a bit and I hate to admit it but it may be sensible to just run something cheaper for a while. I'll shove up the list and parts prices they found (I noted they had to go to macklin motors or something for certain items...#ripoff. I'm not blaming Infiniti they do check around for me and also recommend I find it cheaper elsewhere but they do need to provide me with the stuff too I realise that. Then the looming issues of clutch in the future and that oil gallery.. I know I've discussed it before but if something of either happened and I was in the middle of the house thing next year I think it would stuff me right up. (I am not a rich person... lol prob cos of this car but hey ) Also warey of the MOT place if passed without advisories (after the big brace replacement etc) yet I get this list lol.
  10. Well after wanting to keep it for a couple more year and then buy something decent, sh**s hit the fan and all change. Two things contributing to this... house related and car related. The latter being I've just put it through its service and asked for extras...which were not done as not deemed worth it as further things needed (joy). I've just replaced the brace underneath and a plate for it and it has literally just passed its MOT without any other issues. However... took itto its service and got a list back into two pages. I was expecting it may need new tyres and brakes soon but oh no... much more, seals, slight leaks, etc etc labour blah blah. The car works fine, still goes without issue and again passed MOT, but ...get this... the parts alone for the work that will likely be needed in the future are over £2000 (I know dealer prices but still!) So this, along with possible future issues of clutch/oil gallery gasket and of course me moving have now pretty much made me think and the costs are starting to mount...and will likely mount for the next MOT. The cars been great, I've kept it well maintained (some chips etc with age), its had a fortune spent on it (servicing, fuel, some repairs, replacements) to the tune of around £25,000 over 5 years! I've loved every damn bit of it but its age and it being kept out in all weathers and driven high miles yearly has caught up with it. It absolutely kills my soul that I'm now making the decision but the Z has got to go. My issue now is (possibly shot myself in the foot buying it) I can't afford something faster of a newer age...at the moment and anything lower I don't want or don't like and would not wish to spend the money unless it was something special I REALLY wanted. I'm now considering just trading it in, whatever I'm able to get I then purchase a car with that and save some cash for a couple of year then come back to something damn good. This leaves me with two ways (in my mind).... do I buy something totally crap like a small hatch with a tiny engine and just 'enjoy' the savings until I want to change or do I try and find the fastest decent thing I can for the price of a 350Z... with 101, 000+ miles on it. (what should I be expecting?....would hope at least 6K! I got offered 7500 in the summer for it). Makes me depressed just thinking about it. 5 Years of this and now possibly for a couple of year in something.... nowhere near the Z. So... my question is.... what kinda figure should I expect/aim for from a dealer for a trade in? ....58' HR, paint work wheels have some marks, 101,000+ miles. And also what could I get thats decent for that price that won't cost a fortune. (so I'm not looking for low 20mpg, something with a chain driven belt, no major common faults (I will likely buy off a dealer). Any help or suggestions much appreciated. I could go cheaper for the parts etc but I've made the decision and shes going (life sucks).
  11. They do some manuals on the Q30 and Q50 but most are auto, there crap at manuals ...trust me I've tried. They suit the autos well.
  12. Ok so car was in gettin a service and I was very kindly given a 2.0 Q60 S to play about in for the day. First impressions... damn pretty car, turns heads no doubt. The interior is usual Q50 but with the different door designs it flows better. You feel you are in something special most certainly. The seats are very comfy and supportive and the heating function works a hell of a lot quicker than the Z's lol Steering... ah.. no matter how I fiddle with the sport or dynamic settings I could not find any decent weight to the steering. The lightness is good in town but otherwise odd feeling and does not give you confidence at speed, but again if you bought it you'd get yourself used to it daily ...maybe. (tbh its more sporty drivers who will notice this). The flappy paddle 7 speed was ok, although slow to shift in the first two gears but at speed mid-range was changing quick enough. I don't think it needs 7 tbh. The sound from the 2.0L wasn't that good. Seen some reviews saying it gives a nice snort..but I couldn't really hear anything..just the tyre noise etc. (Which for the record isnt too much a concern from me owning a Z, but the exhaust could be better). Speed wise I didn't really do anything (as I have to fill her back up) but its quick enough for most I would assume, it doeant feel sluggish if you're in the right gear. Suspension is a bit bumpy, quite a hard ride but its damped better than a Z so I'd take it anyday lol Fuel economy for a 2.0 in 2017... its meant to be around 41mpg...so I would expect 35 at least... nope 26-27...on a 2.0!! I hope the 3.0l's 31mpg is closer... Overall the steering feel and economy for the 2.0L are its worst 'flaws' but most won't bother about the steering it'll be the fuel if anything. Otherwise its a damn good car and I'd happily have a 3.0 AWD...if the steering was any better. ....and on another note the Z went through its service and got...quite a list (despite passing its MOT) of stuff that may require doing or in the near future... the Z's future may not look so bright and I'm having to mow think about downgrading (house etc)... and I'm not even remotely happy. The costs are just getting annoying if anything with things now starting to go wrong with age. Still works, still feels fine, goes like a train but obviously under neath things are happening.... thinking at this stage... (I'll maybe put a further post up in the future about this bit...hum)
  13. Glad to hear your all ok! Hope everything works out
  14. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsKDGdcb6BQ I'll let you know one bit from the start of the video... repainted the car... £250,000!!!!!!
  15. http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2017/12/14/Nissan-Uses-A-Mini-Car-Wash-To-Test-Paint-7742465/ I still wouldn't use one.
  16. Probably is but I've never bothered, Infiniti have done me great for the last 5 years and still help out with reduced costs on parts, repairs etc (even when they don't have to - More so the reception/parts girls that I know reasonably well). Still gonna be dearer than a local but I trust and know this dealer and they still continue to show the qualities you want even down to simple stuff like letting you see what was taken off/repaired to show why it was needed etc. Little things. Plus I usually need a courtesy car which is a bonus lol.
  17. Meh, fair enough lol quoted around £438, which I'm happy enough with. ...again though Nissan HPC in Edinburgh... around double... insane. Some of their prices for Z stuff with extras is near specialist GTR ones.
  18. So my cars going in to get a service next Monday, I'm happy with Infiniti and will go to them regardless. They did put their labour and discounted rates up not so long ago as I don't think many go now (selling on etc) so they weren't making too much money from the Z's. Just wanted to get a feel for the cost to see how it compares to what I've been quoted out of curiosity. I've checked with a Nissan HP dealer and they were pretty much double Infiniti's cost but I'm interested in what people consider decent or would expect for the below: P2 Service Gearbox Oil (doing for the simple fact I'm at 100K+ miles) Tracking I won't say my cost until I see what people think, just to see lol. So what would you expect to pay (incl VAT) approx?? (no home servicing costs, decent service place or thereabouts etc I'm looking for in opinion lol)
  19. I had just switched it on lol Don't worry it goes back down, still doin' its 60 at 60 etc.
  20. Really surprised Lanarkshire up here hasn't got any, we usually get it all especially where I am. All seems to be central UK....aka England ...muahahah. I hate snow so bad. Apparently temps picking up next week to like 4 or 5C etc May it hurry up. Getting plenty of ice though... Took these this morning lol I love how my drivers door always freezes every damn year and I have to jump in and out the passenger side. Water or something is getting into the lock. Happened in my last car before the Z too.
  21. I've seen some front angle pics and it looks ..ok. I'm not expecting beauty but some form of appeal. Doesn't matter if your going on a track a large appeal of cars is usually...through your eyes! I think its more the sharp shapes, like its just odd panels added together, there's no 'flow' anywhere in-between. The rear and the rear side profile has to be the worst. I like the see through door gimmick, but depends where your driving and if you bothered to get dressed that day More importantly ....WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CENTRAL DRIVING SEAT THING?!! McLaren even advertised a test car not long ago with Chris Goodwin in the middle. I'm gonna guess (and hope) this is for another car due to come soon?
