  1. It took you £2500 to find that out!? yikes. All in, including the recent stay brace thingy, I've spent about £3K in repairs...over 5 years. Mind you I have spent about £22K just running the damn thing lol
  2. I don't either but sometimes it can look not bad. I suppose the shooting brake cough estate cough look helps sometimes. Eg. Audi estates usually look better than saloons IMO. I'd rather a Vanquish S than this Zagato but still think its pretty good lookin', just not....650 good looking considering the underpinnings
  3. I'm still waiting (as if I could buylol) on the new Vantage being revealed. Looks way better than the DB11 from the patent drawings I posted about.... and didn't get much of an opinion.. you bunch of modders you
  4. http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2017/10/23/Aston-Martin-Breaks-The-Internet-With-New-Vanquish-Zagato-Shooting-Brake-7741667/
  5. Do you know... I completely forgot about the N/A Turbo side of things my bad! I do however think that manufacturers are making specials...then adding these bits to lesser new models to an extent, a bit annoying lol
  6. Wasn't the 'R' supposed to be a manual back to basics type return to the joy of driving?? This looks to be similar if not less powerful and more...available etc (I've not read the full details on it)
  7. Aye awrite, my theory, his theory.... hehe. I just remember getting told it by someone (I'm sure it was Alex ) Does seem to work if I recall, I've been through every damn bit of suspension (short of the shocks) you could do... not had much luck lol
  8. When you get bored and you mess around on the US Autotrader... two Nismo 350's? For around £16K... Look lovely too! Wish they'd brought them over here https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=467912207&zip=33018&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D33018%26startYear%3D1981%26sortBy%3DderivedpriceDESC%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26endYear%3D2018%26modelCodeList%3D350Z%26makeCodeList%3DNISSAN%26searchRadius%3D0&startYear=1981&numRecords=25&firstRecord=0&endYear=2018&modelCodeList=350Z&makeCodeList=NISSAN&searchRadius=0&makeCode1=NISSAN&modelCode1=350Z https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=462194636&zip=33018&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D33018%26startYear%3D1981%26sortBy%3DderivedpriceDESC%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26endYear%3D2018%26modelCodeList%3D350Z%26makeCodeList%3DNISSAN%26searchRadius%3D0&startYear=1981&numRecords=25&firstRecord=0&endYear=2018&modelCodeList=350Z&makeCodeList=NISSAN&searchRadius=0&makeCode1=NISSAN&modelCode1=350Z
  9. I can't keep up with the variations of the new 911 for crying out loud. I saw this car advertised on the car new sites and thought... if this is the most purist...what the hells the point in the 'R'?? Fair enough this doesn't have a limit on supply but then doesn't that make 'R' models look a bit redundant, even if more power. Bloody Porsche... lol
  10. There's a technique Alex told me a while back to try and identify it, for example if you go over some rough road or potholes and brake when doing so. If the noise stops or continues it eliminates if its a ball joint or drop link or something lol I can't quite remember, maybe he'll see this and be able to help out.
  11. I really do hate modified cars..... lol (to an extent since mines has an exhaust but you know what I mean). I thought that first Zed was smackin' the barrier.... Love a bit of Fiat Seicento Almost had one as my first car...good god.
  12. The cat picture made this post lol I wasn't expecting a car...in a Zed haha
  13. Yep thats the grill lol. I'll keep an eye out but I must admit never seen any blue ones driving around and I'm around wishaw/motherwell/hamilton a lot. Looks good in blue, I nearly bought one but the one I went to see had a bad paint job repair..shame
  14. If you've got the different mesh like grill prob was, I don't think they'll be many of a blue Zed with it kickin' around these parts lol
  15. Turns out nothing wrong with the end bracket, was solid except for the usual surface rust, they just simply couldn't get the bolts off lol. Stay brace thing fitted, end bracket fitted, passed! No advisories, still going strong! lol
  16. Ah I see. Well apparently, cos that was my first point...the other side is ok. (tbh I'm not forking out all that cash just now lol so one side will be done and the other when needed ...although I will have a detailed chat when I go back and maybe ask to see underneath to get a better idea). Just wasn't sure what this other bit would be. Good times.... god almighty the amount I spend on this car it better bloody last me for at least another 2 year as I plan to keep it and see how it goes lol Thanks for the info Alex!
  17. Ok so at around 99k miles the old beast has failed an MOT for the first time. The stay tunnel bracket 'W' shaped thing at the rear. Not surprised, I know they rot away.....so parts in price fine, went to fit it today then got a call from Infiniti advising when they took it off theres another arm or sumthn that was falling apart anf that needs to be replaced. Apparebtly the other side is ok. My question is what other arm or thing thats connected or near the big crossmember brace thing? I cant be bothered to hunt but they said the part from them would be £160. Anyone shed a bit more light on this? I will speak to the guys when I go in as I get on with the master tech fine, its jst the front desk that called so I'm a bit unsure of what it is lol cars now in til' Fri or mon depending on part delivery.
  18. Thanks! I just didn't look hard enough it seems lol
  19. I found the help thread thing but I can't find the 'edit signature' thingy? help lol
  20. Ooft, just seen the servicing costs you posted for the GTR thats not bad at all, bit scary when you get up to the 7-800 odds but 400 not bad at all. Lot of chat about these Golf R's... god I hate them lol. Fast but lets be honest, if you were looking at a GTR, even if you could spec a Golf R to be faster, you'd still pick the GTR... cos' you want the experience and drama, I doubt you get that from a Golf. I'm pretty sure a lot more slower cars will make you feel happier than a Golf R... IMO anyway. Nice to here about some personal experiences of the GTR's cos there is a lot of horror stories about early cars and you kinda wonder... how many people ACTUALLY experience all these problems.
  21. There is a point now, they do look cheap as for the performance but on the other hand yeah... smaller, less expensive things with AWD are getting damn close and even beating supercar or expensive sports car performance. It makes you wonder where it'll stop as hatches catch up to sports cars, sports cars/GT's now becoming old skool supercar fast and supercars...well there going insane these days with the likes of 720S etc. The GTR is a very expensive thing to run..... Oh and on a random note since you mentioned 5K a year running costs, which to most will be ridiculous money.... I do on average around 17K miles a year (work and toy), insurance not that dear - around 400-500), tax, full set of proper tyres, MOT, inbetween amount for servicing cause it can range from 100+ to 400. I worked out with my mate and his corsa not too long ago, (excluding the cost of the car)...it cost him £1000 a year to run, maybe less. My Zed.... costs approx £4500 a year to run.... (admittidly half-ish of that is fuel).... Scary amount for a Z and I've owned it for 5 years... It's also had around £2500 of random repairs and updates (including the cat back exhaust cos the old one developed the usual hole at the back box pipe). All these things add up. All that over 5 years is like £25,000 to run the silly thing. I cannot imagine running a GTR and things going wrong along with normal maintenance.... oh and btw my servicing and repairs were all done at discounted labour rates! (I did once check with Alex Noble Nissan and their prices were double what I pay). Cheap sports stuff can be appealing as hell... thats how I could buy it but by god you better have pockets full if your gonna run something of a GTR nature.
  22. Was a not bad turn out, always packed the TT meets, but once it started to P*** down people just left. Would have been good to see your GTR lol. Swing by the next one... if its dry lol Think they'll be stopping soon for the winter anyway,
  23. Passed you this morning when I was leaving the Tartan Tarmac event in Motherwell, blue 350, mesh like grill. I'd had enough when it started to rain and just left lol
  24. Yeah they may not be the most top end of sports driving but there pretty good as Infiniti seem to put sportyness over comfort type setting on a lot of their big V6 engined cars. The 'M' or Q70 as its now called, with its refresh is a bit of a looker IMO, different but in a bulky big luxury 'MOVE OUT MY WAY' kinda look lol Set with the 20inchers you get and it can look the business and is bigger in stance than its rivals, so gives a more meaty appearance. I've tried the hybrid V6 and it shifts alright. Q50 is not bad, I've only ever tried diesels... I can deal with the interior, lets be honest its Aston Martin quality compared to my plastic 350Z's basic nothingness lol I've not tried the Q60 yet but I'll be asking for a go in a 3.0 at some point to try out, certainly looks the business and feels it when sitting inside. More luxury GT with thumping go than out and out sports coupe, which is fine I like GT's. For it to be in for a shout of my Z's replacement though it'll be the suspension and steering. I don';t expect it to be as good as the Z, the 350's really is pretty good for what it is (having tried more expensive stuff). If the suspension holds up round corners and the steering settings (stupid electric guff) can be made to be somewhat weighted and give some sort of confidence then I'd be sold. The 400hp doesn't need to prove itself lol You're right about the Q30 though its crap...also who thought one stalk was a good idea?
