  1. are there any specific problems i can expect with the 2005 model? All zeds are pretty much solid in terms of engine. Am i right in thinking the engine specs were better on the 2004 model onwards etc? earlier models have more torque, but less BHP. lots of info around here - check the FAQs Also, do the UK models have electronic folding wing mirrors? Yes
  2. Get a P3 service on it (thats the full one with everything). Then you'll know where you're at. Keep it going every 12 months (at most) or every 9k miles (at most).
  3. The charity works by not paying for the ride. It's a loophole that is perfectly legal and has been for years. Basically its like this; "If you donate X amount to our charity, I will see if one of our drivers can give you a lift free of charge". Its not illegal to offer anyone a lift or ride pending no cash was passed to the driver as a taxi service - all the dough went to charity and the drivers received nothing, not even for petrol. Example pricing was: Caterham @ £30 (i think) My zed @ £30 360 MOdena @ £45 F430 @ £60 R8 V10 @ £65 Atom @ £45 (i think) XJ220 (£100) I think next time I will price my zed at £25 so people would be more tempted to go for it. When your up in the £30 people then naturally think "screw it...£15 extra gets me into a Ferrari". lol.
  4. Hey all. I signed up to be a member of the Sporting Bears motor club earlier this year. Basically the club takes people out for cash donations to childrens charities so its a win/win situation. I get to drive my car, passengers get a 10 mile blast with smiles on their faces and money ends up with sick children (every penny). Never done this thing before but gave it a go and mingled with the likes of Ferrari, Lambo, R8, Aston owners and I felt very welcome. Such nice people and everyone mucking in together. This was at the NEC motorshow last month and gave four rides @ £30 each. The Ferrari's were obviously very popular - never stopped all day and there was even a Jag XJ220 (£100 for a ride btw). I know you all like pics and with VIP driver access I got to walk around all the cars and chat to fellow owners, so here you go: The day was very wet (unfortunately), and driving around NEC with no clue where to go is a little daunting. Especially since plod was out everywhere in patrol cars and under cover cars (I find this discusting catching with mobile speed guns when we are raising for charity and being sensible and knowing the limits). Thankfully no one I heard of got a ticket. One poor bloke went 40 - 60 - 40 on a road in his Exige last year and plod gave him 3 points (huge A road) because it was a 40mph bypass. Makes me paranoid beyond belief on the day! However, all's well that ends well and collectively raised well over £30,000 during the weekend. Had good fun and would definently do it again.
  5. Don't do it. Had bad experiences with French cars - they really do fall apart and cost a small fortune to fix such silly little things that drive you mad - you'll end up hating it. You'll look at it in the show room and think "thats a good looking little car and feels right" - after a few months it'll still be good looking but it won't feel right because it'll forever be in the garage being fixed. You might get lucky, but everyone I know that's had a french car has had to go through a lot more pain than other brands - can't be coincidence. Why not go for a Focus ST or even an RS Four seats, enough room for luggage, etc and still got the performance of the zed (especially the RS).
  6. Obviously going to say Azure. However, I think the zed looks good in all colours when modded right and tastefully. I think the next colour would have to be banana

    Winter Time

How to do you make sure everything is ticking over and the battery doesn't die, etc?
  8. Just wondering what people do during the winter months. I know a fair few of you keep on driving every day, whereas some (like me) keep the car tucked away until sunny days.
  9. Amazing. Just makes me think how small our shows are in comparison.
  10. I'd of gone for an R8 or a 911 GT3 RS if I had enough dough. I wouldn't get a GTR after hearing about the crazy maintenance / fixing prices
  11. Just out of interest, how does the R34 compare to the zed? I know they are totally different machines and in my eyes the R34 is superior in almost every way (esp tuning aspect). It's an older car, but a well looked after examples are amazing (the sheer presence of the thing is awesome). Have you thought of importing one if you can't find one already in the UK? Goodluck with the sale.
  12. I use a Nikon D40. Check out my pics here > viewtopic.php?f=11&t=27950 It's the first Nikon in the range (although the D40x seems to have taken over). Great DSLR with more than enough for an amateur to start with. It's not the camera that costs a lot - its the lenses with SLRs. You can point and click with this and get it really crsip, but as time goes on you figure out how to do effects with the light, etc. The D40 feels solid and is light enough to carry around with you for a few hours if need be. Plus with a Nikon, they are 100% reliable. Canons are good too. Go to a local Jessops and ask to try a few out (for a starting point your price range with a lense will be about £350 - £500, depending on what model you get). Don't be fooled by the "it has 20 million pixels and this one only has 6 million", etc - unless you're gf is going to print the picture out in poster size (i.e. A3 or bigger) then 6m pixel or higher is more than enough. Its the camera's ability to focus and produce a crisp image that you want. A 4GB card will store 1.5-3k pictures (depending on quality settings) and battery life is amazing on the Nikons (mine lasts all day no problem and recharges in 1-2 hours tops). As with all digitals, you can simply transfer to PC and start again.
  13. Your spot on there mate. Seriously, what if some punk decided to boot the front of the car knowing full well the owner will have to pay £11k to fix it (beats keying it).
  14. Jeez! £11k repair bill because of tiny crack in the front bumper - making the safety bonnet mechanism fire and causing all sorts of problems. If I had a GTR i'd take it back like what most of the GTROC guys have been saying. You'll forever be on pins driving it and even the slightest accident will make you really hate yourself and the car - all because of Nissan's pricing. I find it appauling that the most common damage to a car in a crash would be the front yet Nissan have designed such a system so it can't be easily reset - and there is hell no chance I'd pay £11k repair bill (you could buy a zed for that). It's metal and rubber at the end of the day. All the talk about "replacing ECU's", etc indicates Nissan developed the GTR with top dollar maintenance profit in mind. Its a hinge on the bonnet (why can't Nissan design it so you can just remove a latch and push it back down, take it to a Nissan dealer and reset the ECU - job done). Very worrying...
  15. Do this to it instead: Possibly the most stunning "orange" zed I've seen.

    Total noob

Plenty to choose from. YouTube "350z exhausts" and you can hear all the different types. I have a Nismo - it's the most perfect sound ever and the Dartford tunnel was designed because of this exhaust. Its one of the most expensive one's though (over the £1k mark). You can get much cheaper with still a great noise - have a nosey around. Induction will be single and although no performance gains to be had, will give more noise. A popular choice is the JWT popcharger, although there are many more. Check out the modifications section...
  17. I heard this was around £100k mark. Basically a street legal racing car - hence the price.
  18. Mine is a JDM. I pay roughly £100 extra for the honour through Bell.
  19. I've got a Nismo exhaust and it is the most perfect sound. However, with the windows up it doesn't have the roar as everyone loves outside the car (summer with windows down is awesome). I've got a JWT popcharger coming through soon, so I can continue to hear the noise inside the cabin even on wintery days. Get one!
  20. I've got it too - serious improvement and is much more refined. If you have Vista, get rid of it and go to 7. Vista = makes you do what it wants to do Windows 7 = it does what you want it to do Plus nothing was incompatible when I upgraded and I have a lot of dev software on their too.
  21. You have a virus. Run a scan or go back to a restore point: > Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore Select a date when this problem wasn't occuring (earlier this week) and restore it to back then (it deletes anything added to the PC since thsi date - including (hopefully) the virus)
  22. Its set to rain on us. http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/ And I spent 5 hours cleaning it last weekend!
  23. Nice idea. MK is very central to a few places with the M1 passing right by it. There is often a big meet (or was) around the Hockey Stadium every Sunday, although I've always avoided it - squad loads of police and ricers everywhere! If your into hanging out with 17 year olds with "well banging" Saxos and Corsa's then its alright. Sometimes a few nice Jap cars turn up though, but from what I gather the "i've got my mums car" brigade have taken over the scene.
