Keep the standard RAYS: 1 - refurb them in an alternate colour 2 - fit some 20mm spacers (Eibach Hubcentric) 3 - lower the car a tad (25mm here) 4 - when your discs die dont buy Ni$$an parts, speak to a trader on this forum about getting some better looking EBC discs for half the price. 5 - get the alignment re-done. Notice that my rear tyres are sat at a slight angle. Re-alignment sorted this camber issue out easily after the lowering (sorry no pics at hand)

Dammit! I supposed to be over in Leicester this morning getting CS's mate to fit the DS2500's, and i wake up to this sh1t ! At least next doors kids are enjoying themselves! Shame my Zed isnt After taking a few pics i tried to drive out of the driveway and up the street.... didnt get very far in a straight line Had to admit defeat and bring the car back to the driveway. Next doors kids were amused at all the sideways sliding tho

Can i be the first to say it? *ahem* "We are all California-Sage-green with envy" Thankyou

106000 miles on mine now - typically with Silkolene Pro 5w30. Am i anywhere near catching up your mileage Doc?
-
I think i top-up with about 250-500ml of oil between changes (4k-5k miles). The car has 106000 miles on the clock, and is both a daily-driver and weekend warrior Given that Honda think 1000ml per 1000miles is 'within tolerance' for their S2000 engines, i think a max of 500ml every 5000 miles or so is fine. No idea where it burns it/spills it. No puddles on the drive so i reckon its the way i drive ...... quite a lot of "off the throttle" overrun listening to the exhaust pop and burble

Stick myself and Lydia down for this one mate. I'll try to sort a room out at the hotel today. Ta! EDIT: I've managed to book a double room at the Heaves Hotel for Fri and Sat ! -

Paul at RS Tuning had the car on the rollers this afternoon to sort out the Up-Rev ECU tune. Sadly i dont have a scanner to show the graphs, but the basics ended up as: Standard Torque - 250lb ft from 2500rpm thru to 5500rpm (fluctuated a little) WHP - 230bhp (peak - and it was a wierd peak at 6500rpm, 500rpm either side it was down at 225bhp Fly - 283 (again with the odd blip at 6500rpm) otherwise peaks at 275bhp UpRev - (13th power run) Torque - 270lb ft from 2500rpm thru to 5500rpm (fluctuating a little) WHP - 241bhp with a much flatter peak across 6000 - 6500rpm Fly - 293bhp with a much flatter peak across 6000 - 6500rpm So the gains are in line with what the UpRev is said to deliver, whether my other mods help or hinder it im not certain. I guess on the rollers the K&N Typhoon is probably going to struggle even with the gargantuan fans that RS Tuning have! Air/fuel mix was the more sinister element - noticably running lean beyond 4500rpm. Paul managed to tidy this up loads, with the AFM line now a nice, almost flat line from 3000rpm to 6500rpm. The results were most apparent on the road. The car now has an eagerness to pull that it didnt have before (and i thought it was fine previously!). 2nd gear at 3000rpm now unleases over 260lb ft torque which grows a little towards 270+ around 4500rpm. Even higher gears seem to want to pull quicker than before, with sharper throttle response across the board. Knowing that the car is fuelling better above 4500rpm is also comforting ! Given that she has 105000 miles on the clock now, i think these are impressive before AND after results. I'll get the print-outs scanned and uploaded here or in the rolling-road results section next week once i have access to a scanner. Paul said that the UpRev basically ends up with him changing my base map on the cars ECU, and that unless Nissan re-flash it, this it what it will always be running from now on. Im not certain if an ECU reset would ever be needed ever again (i need to ask RS or Abbey i guess) but doing so wont reset the settings to factory, instead anything the ECU has 'learnt' since the UpRev will revert back to Paul's map if i do an ECU reset in the future. 460 quid well spent

Yeah i was thinking of doing that, or getting a mate to help out with the oil change. But im lookin at nearly 60 quid delivered from Opie for the Fuchs oil and filter that i normally use. Nissan arent charging much more so for simplicity and a service report, ive stuck her in at Nissan. (Only an oil change, they cant get that wrong...can they?) lol
-
I've finally decided to sort out the awful throttle restrictions in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears ! And for safety-sake, the car is getting oil and filter changed at Nissan the day before the Up-Rev work. With the plenum, K&N, uprated Y pipe and exhaust, i'm hoping that i see a nice improvement in throttle response, and maybe a few extra HP and torque. With 104000 miles on the clock, i figured she was probably due for a re-map session to at least make sure she isnt starting to run lean/rich etc. Sparks were changed at 65000 miles (2.5 years ago) and were the slightly better Denso ones, so these are good for another 10k i think...? I will post up before and after RR results to see if it makes much difference to an aging Zed EDIT - this should perhaps be in the Tuning section, sorry mods. Move it if its in the wrong section - sorry!

Top event - thanks to all involved for organising this! Myself and Lydia had totally forgotten about the Zedfest weekend (and we are localish too - doh!). I ended up in Calverton buying some dining furniture on Satdee and stumbled across the signs and then a nice 240Z parked in the industrial estate nearby. When i finally found the "Farm Furniture" place the owner assumed i was a lost Zedder and suggested i pop back down the road a few hundred yards lol 6x dining chairs and a table wont fit in a Zed - which surprised me. Thankfully, the bloke was able to deliver same-day. So after a few hours chatting to regulars and oogling the nice motors (and a ride in the 370s) we had to leave to take delivery of the dining room stuff Lydia tore a ligament in her foot the other week playing footy, so im not certain that we were exactly prepared for the event foot-wear-wise....but she managed to limp around quite well i thought Apparently i now need to buy a 370 Coop. The Anniversary one. Dammit Chris!

Just popped over to 'Furniture Farm' in Calverton to buy some Harvey's ended-line dining room furniture....totally forgot the Zedfest weekend was on! Drove past the entrance, then popped into the furniture place only to be told by the owner that we were the forth Zed to have taken a wrong turn into his place lol! Had to remind him i was there to buy a table and chairs Popped back down the road to Zedfest for a few hours - great turnout! Lots of 350's, 300's and several older Datsun's already. Also a few 370s AND some lads from Nissan were there with two 370z demo cars - free passenger rides and drives (for those with ID and paper licence on them). Back home now waiting for furniture to be delivered ! Back to Zedfest later tonight and tomorrow all being well. If you are local get over there - excellent crowd already gathered!

A38? I was on my way back from Stoke (curry night with some old mates). Dropped of the A50 and thought i ought to slow down as i joined the A38. Slipped onto the A38 in front of another car (odd cos it was nearly 1am and i didnt expect traffic!) and lo-and-behold there's a Zed behind me Shame you weren't going further on mate - we owned that stretch of road!

The biscuit car is gone, long live the biscuit!!!!

I nearly bought one before the Zed - test drove a few AP1 models. Then test drove an 06 in summer last year. Really liked it - not very quick until VTEC then quite mad i thought So, after weeks of ownership, give us a decent comparison write-up on the two cars mate! How is the S2K better then the Zed? Where is it worse etc? -
Had the same thing happen to myself and Lydia earlier i the year. We did a Wales weekend in late March. Fluked some awesome weather and went zipping around the Snowdonia roads/EVO triangle etc. Didn't see a single Zed in wales, nor on the Mways to and from Wales! My Zed must be the only one that *didnt* come with the factory-standard cloaking device

An utterly spot-on weekend IMO. Excellent organisation from all involved, even down to having a bloke with a clipboard handing out name tags for owners cars (great idea Colin!) The only thing that i think we need to agree on for next time is somekind of obvious "arm out of the window" signal to let other sheep/350z drivers know that you are not following the course, but are instead turning off to go home/back to the hotel etc. The amount of times people followed other Zeds in a sheep-like fashion was comical - i did it twice, with both myself and Lydia checking then re-checking the course-notes to work out where we had gone wrong! (We hadn't, but when several Zeds all go one way, we *assumed* they knew what they were doing - turned out people were following "the Zed in front" who was on his way back to the hotel lol)

Looks like Halfrauds Ilkeston have only just started to stock it! I bought the only pack they had - one of the girls behind the counter remembered putting in a draw underneath one of the shelves cos there was no designated area for it yet, lol! Cleaning on Satdee morning i reckon
-
Looks like i am off to Halfrauds tonight after work then. Cheers all
-
Hi all - i noticed in my pre-Wales checks that my K&N Typhoon really needs a clean. The filter is pretty dirty. I think K&N sell those "clean and re-oil kits" for their filters? Can i pick this stuff up at Halfrauds/MotorFactors or will it need to be purchased from somewhere like OpieOils/Envy etc? Ta!

Yeah was good to meet you and the better half fella Sorry Lydia and myself missed you leaving on Sunday! Hope the trip back was ok.

The three who finished day one + the Hillside Zed

Massive thanks to Beavis, Colin, Martin et al for organising this years event. And also many thanks to everyone else who had a hand in the organisation. Excellent route on Saturday and stunning weather all weekend! I think only myself, Heath (Pimms) and Ken completed the full day one run....what can i say, our cars were made for driving not detailing I will pop some pics up later in the week - did anyone else see the massive letter 'Z' cut in the heather later on in the Sunday run... Lydia got a pic of it. Brilliant coincidence!
-
Excellent colour choice. Suits the car!

looks good Bless 'em. The exhaust is normally enough to warrant a double take, now the rims seem to be snapping necks even at 20mph. An old fella in a Merc at the petrol station commented too. Hmm, Corsa drivers and old Merc drivers. . . lol
