I lost interest in the job in 93 when the Sheehy report started to change things.I managed another 5 years afterwards but it ruined the job. Lost a fair amount of benefits and my supplied accommodation was sold off with all local beat area knowledge moved to divisional stations and the strategic target mentality was born. GMballistic Posted March 3, 2015 Share Posted March 3, 2015 Some interesting jobs/carers in this thread Wish I had received better guidance when younger to have better realisation of all that was out there, I would have followed another career course, Maybe it's different nowadays but when I was at that age (mid 90's) it was rubbish guidance anyway. At the time I wanted to be a racing driver, gun smith or Police pursuit driver ~ in that order. The guidance I received was rubbish as really the only legitimate job of those three was a Police pursuit driver but she didn't have a pamphlet about that so suggested the Military instead which although I did follow through with to some degree (passed physical tests/sat exams ~ was eligible for REME or the MP ~ my choice) it wasn't the right way forward for me as I liked being close to my family and wasn't interested in seeing the world. Ended up working my way up in a "Brewers Fayre" Pub kitchen (wash boy/starters & desserts/commis chef/sous chef), then did a Toolmakers apprenticeship, then worked in a car garage then probably another 6 to 7 other jobs before finally finding a career I'm happy with so don't give up as it's never too late to try something new. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But then you have 2 sets incase some may hack your home network, which - in honesty - doesnt have a billion $ spent on security and would be V much easier for someone to access than say a data centre /cloud. Currerntly your data is kept on one or two hdd, maybe even 4 or 5 with raid .. where as in a data centre it's across several thousand /encrypted.... and of course "data" isn't that naked picture of an ex ... it's 010110100010010100101101 .... it's incredible really what they (we?) can do now ... so many implications of what's to come... Now about those school designs.... One good one in my last school was the radiators in the ceiling!! I'm a civil engineer working as an architect but my job title is 'Landscape Architect' ... rads in suspended ceiling - yea we do that ! I also own a Company called Architectural Restorations. Will, do you have a website? It's something I have a keen interest in and it would be interesting to see some of the work you do. Also what series of racing do you have cars in? What cars do you run?
